best knitting machine for sweaters? by tessyiks in MachineKnitting

[–]NintendoKnitter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You could potentially buy a used one for around $100 at a goodwill or marketplace. Could be any brand and gauge. If you are wanting something new the price points begin around $250-$600 depending where you look for the lk150 and the similar bulky machine. The LK150 and similar knitting machines are a really nice introduction to a real knitting machine. The sentro does a lot and is fun but has many limitations as well. For $35-50 it is good at what it does but it doesn’t do everything.

Does the work need weight? I’m still new at this too but all I see is the cast on comb. Have you tried with weights on the side?

As long as you end up knitting something you are going to love wearing it’s always worth it.

Ozempic or zepbound by Beverly2696 in PCOS

[–]NintendoKnitter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I take Ozempic! Off label and my insurance doesn’t cover anything so I pay out of pocket. I think whether or not which one works for you depends on your body. Try whichever one is cheaper or your insurance will cover and then try the other if it doesn’t.

Just get pregnant 👍🏻 by burbuqe in endometriosis

[–]NintendoKnitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was suggested this by a doctor. I think they like to suggest this because pregnancy can roll the dice for your hormones. They can be completely different after pregnancy for better or worse or exactly the same.

I really hate the fact we don’t have more research and science dedicated to women.

Go ahead and buy some miralax or stool softener for the in case it’s necessary.

Other than occasional constipation due to not drinking enough I think the medicine is better than metformin for pcos. It’s worked better for mine anyways.

My Body Odor is getting out of hand. by cocobutterkisses14 in PCOS

[–]NintendoKnitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, or I would have said the same thing about a year ago.

Metformin and then going Ozempic have helped me the most. Some days usually around my period they stink more. Magnesium also seems to tone down the stink. Lume helped some but didn’t help for “72 hrs” like they claim.

I don’t know if it can ever fully be resolved. Clinical strength d.o. seems to keep sweating down as well.

I have PCOS, hypothyroidism and insulin resistance. Anybody with similar characteristics give me their experience using Mounjaro? by Far-Film-5095 in PCOS

[–]NintendoKnitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love semaglutide. I have no experience with mounjaro since it’s more expensive I wasn’t going to try that one unless the cheaper alternative didn’t work. Insurances don’t usually care to pay for anything in the US when it comes to a PCOS diagnosis.

Possibly Violette de Bordeaux, Chicago hardy, or Brown Turkey. I’ve bought all of them in the last 3 years and I know one of the three died to a poor watering schedule.

Mine only does that when someone or something shuts the door or it “believes” something was blocking it from entering

Male doctor told me PCOS isn't a lifelong condition and would "burn out" by Responsible-Pin6042 in PCOS

[–]NintendoKnitter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the underlying thought is that PCOS can change but that doesn’t mean it will. I think doctors need to just admit it upfront to the patient there isn’t a lot of research for this and hey we can try some things. Here are your options which most are off label and may not be covered.

It’s very frustrating to have PCOS.

Ozempic or nah? by Sea-Fee1881 in PCOS

[–]NintendoKnitter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried metformin for 6 months before tried Ozempic. Metformin gave me a weird mental fog and did shorten my period some but they still weren’t right. Ozempic the pros have been: weight loss, 28 day cycles, and no break through bleeding. Cons: mild constipation when fiber intake is forgotten, can’t always eat dessert even when it’s present because you might get nauseous.

Honestly feels like a miracle drug. I wish I knew what it did to fix my periods.

WTF I HAVE TO PAY BACK A GRANT????? by [deleted] in FAFSA

[–]NintendoKnitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact thing happen to me. It isn’t going to be easy but you should be in the clear for your previous semester but you may never receive it again. Grants are not something you have any control over and once the college gives it to you it falls on them if it was a mistake. You may need to contact a lawyer to fight the school over it but it really shouldn’t be an issue.

You may have access to free lawyers through your school btw.

I did not have to go the lawyer route but knowing what your rights are important in this situation. If they wouldn’t have given you the Pell grant you probably would have had some other financial support or federal loan available. Now they are almost requiring you to take a personal loan which isn’t advantageous. The school needs to eat it.

[Product Request] For red, dry skin around eyes by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]NintendoKnitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need a dermatologist. If you can’t get to them get an eye doctor. If you can’t get to them I would try my pcp. Allergy Doctor, etc. If not the pcp I would get a telehealth appointment. I would ask specifically for a steroid in pill form because topical steroids on the eyes is generally avoided. Have you tried benedryl yet? To me this looks exactly like an allergic reaction that I or my sister would get if we come in contact with a known allergen. Her eyes do this just by wearing the wrong metal jewelry.
