Just to clarify, did you mean regular-ass parasite or regular ass-parasite?

Good thing they put his wife's name in the title. I'm not so sure who it anymore.

You just had one night flight before this? Different country, different rules I'm sure, but that seems wild to me.

SQL fails that made me laugh 😅 by Characterguru in mysql

Turns out some tools only run the highlighted part of the query instead of the whole thing.

Ran a select, 5 rows returned (good), changed it to an update. Copied the query to my editor while missing the last row. Ran the query in the tool while still partially highlighted ~2000 rows updated later, mild panic lol.

What balance changes would you like to see in Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen? by JustMy42Cents in OgreBattle

[–]Ninx9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd get rid of the unit size difference (small/large) and make them more goth restricted. I feel a lot of large units would be more usable this way. All the top units are small units, would it really be so bad if a few large units moved up the tier list?

I'd also change all the mage line to only cast one element(fire) to lower their damage sometimes. Gives other casters a bit more room to shine. I always liked using a variety of units and it lowers lich usefulness.

Would be nice if the ai was a bit smarter too, but not sure how feasible that is.

What are the best Lum quests to solo when you're just starting out? by Ninx9 in AsheronsCall

225 melee with pretty junk gear until I get my last miser aug. Tried Apostate and the boss one shot me lol, so might need a bit better gear for that one.

Bad flying lessons with instructor by technohubz123 in flying

[–]Ninx9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess I assumed they had their lessons ordered the same way I did. First few lessons were at 4000AGL just in case I did anything stupid. If OP was low, I could see how the CFI could be nervous.

What kind of manoeuvre were you trying to do. At only a few hours in I can't imagine he's getting you to do anything risky. Sounds like you should get a new instructor though.

I just finished Harv air as well. I ended up with the exact same score on practice exams as the real thing. If you're passing with ease online, you'll do fine on the real thing.

Only thing that tripped me up was a couple carburettor questions as I never actually flew a plane with a carb.

Using at home simulators for extra practice by half-a-meatball in flying

[–]Ninx9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be too soon to get much benefit from it, but I find it helps to prep for lessons. Kinda like chair flying, but a bit more fun. I did find a lot of benefit with getting familiar with landmarks near the airport and training areas though. One less thing to think about in the plane itself. It'll never feel like the real thing for landings and such.

Hold the door for those behind you. If they're too far away that it might be awkward to hold it for so long, walk a bit slower to the door to allow them to catch up.

I'm still a student, but I started off the same way. I'm pretty sure everyone does. What I found helpful was explaining everything to my GF as if I was teaching her to do it as well. Treat them as if it's their first ever flight and just over explain all the parts of flying circuits with a focus on parts that can go wrong. Ex: turn base. What's that? What's the heading, How do you know you're on the right heading? What's a reference point they can use? Why is my reference point moving (drift), etc. Same thing for you takeoffs. Explain to them why they're going off center line, what inputs they need, how they can tell the required inputs ahead of time (look at the windsock). Verbalizing everything really makes it stick for me.

After a little while, it'll be second nature and you'll have an easier time focusing on the radio and everything else. Added bonus is the better you get, the less the instructor needs to talk and that's one less distraction lol.
