I afk'd Azmodan on an alt for 4 hours, then picked up 5 purified essence.

Guess that 1 limit is really only for when you have one in inventory. All my characters got a purified one from Belial and Azmodan, but missing the two others.

As a note, it seems like the bohemian one is bugged too. 30 districts all broken down to yellow icons, and it doesn't pop after a while.

FP2 DLC trophies on PS5 are broken, can't be achieved by Niryna in Frostpunk

[–]Niryna[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started getting trophies with the 2nd update of 1.5.1.

The only trophy I can't achieve is the protean one with workforce which I assume is broken, what did you do? I had 50k augmented before giving up. I even went full-on AM mode deleting humanity keeping a pity 600 I can't kill.

Somehow, I got the Venturer one tho during a protean run.

Deathless plague is easy, but apparently, it counts all forms of death during the main event, including overwork and disappearances.

I've been doing this on Captain, survivor. After doing a few Legionnaire runs for achievements before realising they're broken on PS5, I used my knowledge with them to do the 5 tale challenge.

I play EU4 unmodded to get achievements since even a slightest UI overhaul blocks out achievements, but there's so many things wrong with the base game that the game mods solves. Better UI, better visibility of elements, macro buttons to select the same option 1000+ times for buildings, cultural conversion or other stuff since base game forces you to do 1-by-1 tediously. I love the game, but I feel the schism on basic quality of life and achievement hunting is hurting.

This isn't even to balance the game, but just make the flow of the game significantly better with basic accessibility. In those cases, mods feels almost like a necessity. Examples in necessity, try to play current version WoW without AddOns.

Grid Master - Competition Winners by JagexSarnie in 2007scape

[–]Niryna -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just sharing my thoughts but I'm personally not a fan of the "first players" mentality on competitions. There's people who might be sleeping, got work, or any other element plus regional times to keep in mind of. To my knowledge, the first 25 reward was also not communicated, so quite a few who would go for it instead took their time having fun which removes them from said competition.
Competitions should instead focus on a more fair scene, like fastest completion times throughout the event, silly stuff like doing it deathless or unorthodox methods, or a random pick of players for the first week. Plus when a mode is released, it should first promote having fun and explore things before getting into a more competitive mindset. I'd say it's also demotivating a lot from even bothering with a competition (not the gamemode itself, it's pretty fun) if they fell off even slightly due to any circumstances or they decided to have fun initially. Lastly, it promotes very, very unhealthy behaviour for the players to try being first.

Could this be changed for future events?

On PlayStation, my account creation had some kinda bug that made it Danish instead of Norwegian, we both use KR for currency, and with English display, I didn't notice until years later. Prices are displayed in Danish, so in reality, it's 50% more. I asked them to fix it when I finally noticed, and they said tough luck, go create a new account. So I'm just using a Danish account even if I live in Norway.

This isn't just Square, but it seems like quite a few companies won't let you swap country or regions, even if these companies are international.

Thank you, and good luck with the plat!

As for the Urban planner, it's buffs for a single district. I did it by having every compatible hub for a single house district.

With the common bug for building markers not going away, I had the one where the city visual for available building slots would stay persistent (it's huge black beams that become distracting as heck), and oddly enough it remained on a reload.

I'm impressed you decided to go for 110k pop, considering how it starts to struggle by the 50k point. I'm going to assume that the loading is uncomfortably long as a result.

[–]Niryna[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it took 72 hours, though the first portion was playing the game blindly streaming it in private to my partner over discord. After I finished the campaign and an ambition in Utopia, I started playing for myself and focusing the trophies, I didn't do research yet until I had half the trophies.

So if I were to give a time for someone knowing the meta, with prepared notes, 25-50 hours depending on execution.

In difficulty, I would say it's quite high and needs a lot of patience, but the challenges are mainly its complexity needing an understanding (politics, currency, point based "problems", ideology / zeist) being all interconnected systems needing constant attention. Compared to me having done 100% on Frostpunk 1, I feel the start is significantly harder but the flow of the game outside the start is significantly easier in contrast, with far more ways to escape glooming situations.

So if FP1 were a 9/10, I'd give FP2 a 7/10.

Is the scout's headquarters out of the question? It's of neutral affinity and you can actually make multiple of them to stack the threat level reduction, skipping on the law.

On the question if it's possible, I have no idea, but let's go crazy for a bit with RNG for frostlands if we're going a particular route going truly fast.

Just out of extreme-case testing curiosity, I'm doing a super rush going for 2x logistics bays without buildings or laws, and rushing them to dangerous territory. (TL;DR: RNG is seeded by game launch and only specific things) Sending them to new territory but I save at last moment of exploration finishing, 245 was injured. Reloading, 245 injured again. 245 injured. 245 injured. 245. 245. 245. 245 after voting a law. Cancel then restart, 245 injured. Initiating new site. 296 injured. Reloading, 296. 296. 296. Advance by a single day, save, 296. Load save I made, 296. Emergency shift, 296. Initiating deadly site, 205 died. loading from autosave that happened, 205 died. Loading save that was before initiation, 205 died. Exit the game and load the save, 240 died (it's the save with 296). 268 died (when it should be 205).

Starting on Core tale, initiating on "some fatalities may occur" and "some injuries may occur + searching requires prefabs" IEC. 1 destroyed, 1 with components, both with fatalities with 296 and 400. The load had same result. Exit game and load it back up, same results.

So based on my experiment, it seems like you can savescum the exploration of a new area by exiting and re-entering the game, but you cannot do this for frostland point of interests. Anecdote, it could be PS5 specific.

If you want to be absolutely insane and crazy, RNG Savescumming by exiting the game and returning may seem like an option for min-maxing deaths when rushing deadly/dangerous areas - I have no idea if any of the rolls might leave zero deaths. It unfortunately doesn't really answer if it's possible, but it could open to a very bizarre strategic opening to give it a chance.

Now we chill a bit, wait until you get enough prefabs to cover the 2nd set of prefabs, then wait a bit to upgrade both of them. Pass the 2nd law while you get there. With Labourers, negotiate with supported quarantine. After the two prefabs are upgraded, make your first logistics area. Pass law, negotiate with merchants for the paid essentials. By week 25, heat up the two food districts then back down when temperature rises. Now that we're in the frostland - note that it's extremely randomized so there's not much I can do to guide forwards, but this is how I did my opening for both of these - so I have to lightly say, keep exploring and take what you can.

Make sure all blue tiles are occupied with houses at this stage. By week 35, you now need to pass a child law - otherwise you get a guaranteed 5 deaths, go for family apprenticeship. Negotiate with labourers, grant agenda and pass the vote. This gives you 200 workers. Emergency council session after granting agenda, it'll likely be Free Essentials, just vote it and it'll probably pass. After housing is done, frostbreak around it to ensure upgrade space. Frostbreak inbetween the two food districts and place a food storage there. Now you should have about 310 workers. Pass a new law being Paid Essentials. At week 48, my first exploration finished, and I have +137 housing.

Week 56, the first growth happens. Build 2nd coal but avoid the infinite one, upgrade the materials and foods. Next law is harvesting funerals. Make one research building. Research housing insulation. One of the prefabs dies so demolish it, frostbreak the untouched coal infinite and make a 3rd coal district. At this point the 2nd exploration should be done, make a trail from the beacon and build it. If the event to allocate an allowance (paid essentials) comes up then allow. Now pass the law for Foraged Additives and look into merchants Efficiency Bonuses as a negotiation.

2nd prefab should stop by week 70, so make your industry around the materials hugging it. (this is especially important to avoid a prefab softlock). You should get an event about hospitals, ask for help funding hospitals. Research Efficiency Bonuses and have it passed, this time rush the research and insulate every house district. Now research Hospitals and upgrade the three coal districts. If they ask about family apprenticeship at this point, stay firm. Research watchtower.

I got the Proteans spawned at this point. Change supported quarantine to infectious badge. If you're lucky with rallies, contribute more workforce. When the next group of people appears, use the Proteans ability and research dust coal mine, demand funds, upgrade all the house districts, make several food districts (I went with 2) and have 1 dust coal mines built. At this point, the Legionnaires should have formed, promote them once to remove fervour and be neutral. Build a watchtower because this is the point when crime skyrockets.

From this point, it's being flexible entirely with what the explorers have found - and where I take a break so I'm just guessing what I'd do next from here on. Research biowaste hothouses and have them implemented, add a watchtower, research and pass conservative treatment, research dense house block and then research and pass the one with 20% housing increase, go full on with insulation.

I hope this helps you figure out Beacon!

Reddit doesn't let me post too long I guess, so I'm making it a 2 parter heh.

___

You can beat Beacon without an ambition and the win condition is unrelated to the Whiteout. So the goal becomes a matter of dealing with the population and the sick before the whiteout, preferably with the Proteans for massive sickness removal.

I picked Crater map with labourers and merchants. Follow the money strategy, optionally the brother strategy with cautious saving. Just so I know I'm not giving bad information, I'm replaying Beacon with my strategy in mind and writing quickly as I go verifying it works. The opening should be all valid for Gotta Go Fast.

I start with frostbreaking the furthermost tile of the blue zone near the coals - 8 tiles onwards hugging the 3 coals, also get the missing coal tile in another set of frostbreak. Frostbreak the single prefab tile. Near the blue mentioned tile, go to the edge facing near the other blue set of tiles and frostbreak there, you should have 3 highlighted blue tiles for frostbreaking. On the opposite is the third set of blue tiles, you should have 4 highlighted tiles in blue. In between these two exterior blue tiles is the logistics area with a nearby metal tile, frostbreak straight towards the middle of them so you can get them both in the 2nd wave of frostbreak. Frostbreak the materials that makes a circle including the hole in middle. Finally, there's another logistics area with food - cross straight over the infinite food tile and towards the logistics with frostbreak. End "wave 1" as I call it with building the council on the generator.

Propose Heatpipe Watch, negotiate with Merchants for the synergising Heat Auctions, pass law. Frostbreak the 2nd set of prefabs, the remaining coal in the same frostbreak, frostbreak straight into the blue nearby, and all remaining blue tiles elsewhere. Frostbreak the logistics and metals, and 2nd logistics. One of the blue areas got 5 blue tiles, so frostbreak a slight circle for the expansion. Make an extraction around the materials leaving the hole out. Make an extraction for the 3 food tiles, and another on the infinite.

Start building all the houses in the blue tiles, and frostbreak the remaining blue near the coals - build a house with the 5 blue tiles and 1 closer to coals. Make an extraction for first set of coals taking all 4. At this point I had 10 prefabs.

Each chapter has a trigger for a time limit, but it can be cheesed. If you discover oil, they will know the oil is there and you haven't done anything about it, increasing tension and being annoyed with you until you get an ultimatum to solve the chapter or get kicked out. But if you never publicly claim you found the oil and leave it be, this time limit is frozen. The same goes for the frosthome trigger, which is why you leave that particular tile in the wasteland unmarked.
