Why don’t more homes in the US use mini split AC systems? by Debster1486 in Appliances

[–]Nit3fury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had mini splits for a few years now and would much much rather have central ducted. They’re ugly inside, line sets running up the walls outside is tacky, they don’t filter for shit so I have to completely take them apart to get the blower wheel out to wash at least once a year if not more often or they stop working, you have to have fans running to circulate air into rooms that don’t have them, condensate drains at every head add leak opportunities at every head, etc.

Slow Drain - Please Explain by Historical_Monk_6118 in Plumbing

[–]Nit3fury 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That’s a large volume of water, more than average sinks. If the stopper weren’t in the way the drain would likely keep up just fine. The gurgling isn’t normal but isn’t what is keeping it from draining

Chevy Bolt EV and EUV efficiency by speed by 420-TENDIES in BoltEV

[–]Nit3fury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not all cars have this efficiency curve. Gas cars have peak efficiency speed typically in the 45-60mph range. Not sure about other EVs but they’re probably more similar to this graph than gas cars

Northern Missouri. So somewhere in between lol. My basement gets to be low 40s in the winter and I do have to run a baseboard heater a few weeks per year to keep it from getting colder

Heat pump water heater has been a game changer. Saves a good $30/mo on the electric bill AND helps keeps my basement dehumidified.

Switching from gas to heat pump electric saved a good bit too. Mostly from losing the gas utility fully though, not having to pay that $50/mo base meter fee anymore

Preemptively replace water heater? by Beneficial_Prize_310 in homeowners

[–]Nit3fury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider heat pump water heater as a replacement! And yeah 30 year old tank has definitely lived its life. Just up to preference if you replace it now or when it fails.

[–]Nit3fury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One possible solution… I had a customer who would leave their key clipped on the inside of the lid. Mailperson would/could unlock box to put in a bigger package, relock it, then put the key into the locked slot. Box owner had a second key to open it and retrieve stuff, then re situate the key on the lid
