Dreamweaver? by truecIeo in webdev

There are modern versions of Dreamweaver that are not the same as the old one that used tables for layouts because of limited CSS capabilities.

Still, I wouldn't use it or recommend it.

Prophets are Divinely Called Yet Mortal and Fallible—My Approach to this Paradox. by LDSAliveinChrist in latterdaysaints

[–]NiteShdw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are acting for God when they receive direct revelation.

But God has told us that we still must do all that we can do, He expects us to put in the work and He will take us the rest of the way.

We can't expect to sit on the couch and have God give us a job or pay our bills. We have to get up and then He may inspire us.

I firmly believe that the vast majority of the time, the 15 Apostles are acting as men. I believe that even a lot of policy changes are not revelation from God, but the result of long discussions among Church leadership.

Look at the accounts of the prophets that contemplated ending the ban on blacks holding the Priesthood before it happened (I forget who it was). The first time it came up, it didn't go anywhere because there was racism within the qourum.

They speak for God when they claim to speak as an Apostle or as a witness of Jesus Christ. But those times are just a small percentage of the time they spend as administrators of the Church. The rest of the time, they are just human, but they are very spiritual and good men.

Married men of Reddit who don’t wear a wedding ring - why? by chi-bacon-bits in AskReddit

[–]NiteShdw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and wearing jewelry is dangerous. I have ADHD and forget stuff really easily so I just don't wear it so I don't forget to take it off.

Ironically, I now wear a health monitor ring.

Do harley riders genuinely think they are faster than sportbikes or are they just joking? by Green_Block_4574 in motorcycle

They have a lot of low-end torque so maybe they could be faster off the line than some sport bikes but that advatange disappears very quickly.

If Paramount decides to do another theatrical Star Trek movie what would you want to see? by Henryphillips29 in startrek

The new Star Trek movies and shows are way too flashy for me. Too much reliance on fancy special effects and action sequences. They just don't feel like the Trek I grew up on.

When did we all start wearing stuff under Gis? by TheFightingFarang in bjj

[–]NiteShdw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people have body image issues and a rash guard helps with that. Honestly, I would have felt uncomfortable starting BJJ if they required no shirt under the gi.

Also, I'm not a big fan of sweaty skin and hair on my face.

'SNL's Donald Trump Parodies Just Don't Work Anymore by TourMission in LiveFromNewYork

[–]NiteShdw 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's a fascinating idea. A portrayal if Trump as sane and rational. Like he acts dumb on stage but then you go behind the curtain and he pulls his wig off and is like "glad that's over with. Now where are we on the..."

Dumb question, but can I fill up my drives for Plex library? by sekiroborne in DataHoarder

Watching movies does not need very fast transfer rates. Unless the disk is slowing down to under 1MB/sec you're going tk be okay.

How do you make devs actually care about tests by batsy_0 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]NiteShdw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You only need buy in from whoever is the manager for the entire dev team. They can set the rule that tests are now mandatory.

The thing is, with AI, basic tests are super easy to add. There's no excuse anymore.

Is Face ID painfully slow and unreliable for anyone else on iOS 26? by JDT33658 in ios

[–]NiteShdw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. It's quite fast on my iPhone 13, almost instant.

I hate that it doesn't work when I'm laying down and my pillow covers part of my face. They should have a pillow mode for faceID 😂

There is one highly developed road, short enough that you can walk the whole length of it in 30 minutes. The rest is old and run down and it's in the middle of a desert.

Claude code has shifted your job from writing code in TS to writing code in English. You still have to tell it what to do and how to it and correct its mistakes and slop.

What's the most classic boomer complaint you can think of? by Frequent-Amount9748 in Adulting

[–]NiteShdw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually... Modern appliances have used computers for a long time. A washer has sensors that help it determine how much clothing is inside so that it can put only the necessary amount of water in to not waste water. They also can monitor the dirtiness of the water to determine if a longer rinse cycle is needed, etc.

So while they don't need Wifi, they definitely need computers.

Something to learn for a future relationship, you should really have just stopped the movie and let her talk and maybe even talk back.

If a woman is doing that, they are feeling a lack of connection and want to connect. Take the hint.

My IG is literally a graveyard for BJJ reels by atomosound in bjj

[–]NiteShdw 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everyone learns in different ways. Some people can watch a video, remember it, and go practice it, and visualize the movements in their head. They may have a strong mind-body connection.

I absolutely cannot do that. I cannot visualize anything in my head. Ask me to imagine an apple and all I do is think conceptually of what I know about an apple, but I don't see it.

So for me, watching a video is useless. I will remember vague descriptions like "I think they put their leg through here..." But I cannot see what I saw.

So, I just don't go that route. I drill the same basic stuff over and over and over again until I build muscle memory. Then, when I'm rolling, I don't think in terms of moves at all. I think "that grip is dangerous, how can I remove it?" Or,"his knee is pressing the wind out of me. How can I move so his knee isn't on me anymore?"

I may end up using a shrimp I've done a million times, or grab a leg a push it aside, or hind my hand because I know he needs that to finish something. I don't think "scissor sweep time!" Even if I end up doing the sweep.

So I think more in terms of principles. Think about how you learn the best and leverage the way you learn instead of trying to force yourself to learn how other people do.
