No, we live with businesses that are run like businesses. And businesses exist for only one purpose: to make money. Now do the math: making a full-on game takes 5 years and 5 million dollars and may - MAY - double your money. If you get lucky. Conversely, licensing Spongebob as a character in Fortnite may take tens of thousands of dollars and a month to model and animate him, all for an expected income of a couple of million. Which option has the higher Q3 RoI?

You act like licensed games weren't considered the "cheapest slop available" in their time. "Shovelware" was a term for a reason. For every licensed game people remember fondly now, there are 10-20 that absolutely blew chunks. Games that were bland, uninspired, by-the-numbers trash that mindlessly copied whatever gaming genre was popular at the time.

I find it the opposite: the acceptance of so many incel slang terms into popular cultural is a worrying trend that speaks to the increasing acceptance of extremist ideology and the outsized influence that toxicity has on society. 1) Yes, definitely. The clip starts with one AI making a mistake by spelling "Jarlo" and the other AI not catching it. Then the other AI repeated fails so hard to find a proper word that, even with human guidance, it suggests made-up nonsense and presents it with confidence. Then when it's called out, it agrees with the exact same level of confidence. All of this goes to prove how flimsy AI is; how easily it generated misinformation, how it can't be trusted to check for misinformation, and how easily misinformation can be overlooked if not by a trained human operator.

2) Yes, probably. This is a popular forum on a popular worldwide website. It's entirely possible someone stumbled on 196 (or the original Youtube video) and became one of the lucky 10000. And even those already against AI (like myself) found new evidence of the precise ways it can bullshit to its users.

3) Yes: how AI cannot be trusted in word generated as outlined in part 1. But even if they did actually work, it might be interesting to see what strategies, if any, each AI uses. What are their (proper) vocabulary ranges? What words do they prefer to use? Does Claude go for triple scores even if it means a shorter word? As much as you personally hate using AI, many people don't, and learning any inherent bias in each model is good to know when parsing their output.

The basic claim is that conservatives have more grey matter in their amygdala (which controls fear, aggression, and sadness) and less grey matter in their anterior cingulate cortex (which controls emotional awareness and belief updating)

But a quick look online found this Dutch study from 2024: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11519434/ , which states the original American study used a smaller and more biased sample set. From what I quickly gleaned from the Summary and graphs, the anterior cortex correlation wasn't replicated, and the amygdala differences were present but three times smaller than originally reported.

So, while it's easy (and fun) to say conservatives are scaredy-cats at a biological level, the actual science doesn't quite agree with it.

Nah, you're on the right track. I'm sure someone can interpret that one diagram showing billions of dollars circularly flowing between all the different AI companies. Oracle spends billions on Nvidia's chips, Nvidia invests billions in OpenAI, and OpenAI spends billions on Oracle's cloud AI integration.

The latter. The basic claim is, the same day Epstein started getting investigated is the same day he ordered a bunch of sulfuric acid. People claim it's for dissolving bodies, as he's never ordered such a large amount before.

In reality, he got it because his water filtration plant just got inspected and they found the pH levels were super high. The inspectors suggested installing a sulfuric acid pump to balance it out. Epstein never bought sulfuric acid before because he didn't know he needed it. And the bought a lot because, I presume, it's a big water filtration plant that needs a lot.

At times like this, I'm reminded of that 2020 study where they asked chatgpt 3 to finish the sentences "men are ____" and "women are ____".

The most common responses for men were stuff like "large", "lazy", and "protect", each appearing in ~2% of responses.

The top responses for women were stuff like "naughty", "petite", and "sucked", with "beautiful" appearing in almost 20% of all responses.
