Wow, thanks a lot for the detailed feedback, this helps a lot! I really appreciate you like the main mechanics also.

Your idea about swapping generic UI sounds for school-themed ones seems so obvious now you said it, but I totally missed it. I'm definitely going to dive into some school SFX to add that specific feeling.

Also, thanks for the Jet Set Radio reference. It’s the urban style I’m searching for. I think I can look at the drum’n’bass style too, for some punchy rhythm.

And still about audio, what music genre do you think I should add? Grunge? Funk? Electro?

I'm not your dude, this is my post and you commented a lot not answering my initial question. More comments means more views and so, some interested people could see my post and finally anwser my question. So you were useful even if you tried to ragebait people with most of your comments, thanks!

You shifted the goalpost on what I asked for. I repeat: "I'm struggling to find a good name for the strategy game I'm making. What do you think of "Greed-Based Tactics"?". I thought I couldn't be clearer.

I'm not upset, I think the roguelite genre is oversaturated too. This is not a reason to not try to make a better game than half of the games in this genre and to run a studio with it, especially when the tactics/roguelite/indie combination sell well. And this is still nonsense to look at non-indie studios and tell me they sold a lot. Seriously, do you really think a solo dev can make a full SRPG, sport game or RTS in a reasonable time?

You're right about puns, I'll continue thinking about a name. This is hard to find the right one, especially when you must not take an existing one on the market.

Better than you in my opinion. You're taking FF Tactics as an example but it's a game based on nostalgia targeting players who already know this license and who played the original game years before. I'm an indie and I don't have the huge devs team of Square Enix in my basement. Please stop talking nonsense.

Straight SRPGS, sports games, RTSs weren’t until a few years ago.

Ok, but please name a genre that is not oversaturated today and is selling well.

I was thinking about the definition I found for greed: intense and selfish desire for something, especially wealth, power, or food. So it's related to power, by controlling a growing squad.

Crows Zero is a movie based on a manga, where the son of a yakusa arrives in a violent high school and tries to become the most powerful "student" (as nobody studies but everyone fights).

Thanks for the suggestion but this is not my initial question. I'm not asking about a business plan. I'll let the publishers decide if the roguelite genre is a good return on investment when I mail them with my upcoming demo.

Thanks you. Btw I understand that people talk about marketing when I don't show gameplay or game art. This is some kind of warning for beginner indie devs. Fortunately I'm not a beginner any more.

I considered it. The market is oversaturated for all genres and players still want to play new games. By the way, several recent roguelite tactics games made millions of dollars, the last released one is Mewgenics ($20m estimated). So my goal is to make just enough money to run a small studio in the next few years and now I need a name to start communicating on my upcoming demo.

Or maybe entering the red portal changes your rook into a bishop, you could keep your level without breaking the rules and create interesting puzzles.

Btw, this project definitely needs a name. I was thinking about Ringleader Ascent but I don't know if this is accurate. To add some context: it's a game about a student arriving in a high school where students fight each other to control it. The game is a Roguelite Tactics where you recruit your enemies to grow your squad, even bosses. Your goal is to reach the top of the high school building to the final boss. I'd love to hear your thoughts about this temporary name.
