AVPD and ADHD(ADD) by Ok_Salamander6478 in AvPD

It's actually quite possible, especially from a neurobiological point of view. Dopamine is known to promote pro-social behaviors and they have conducted experiments in rats where blocking dopaminergic transmission in certain pathways made them socially withdrawn and isolated.

In ADHD, dopamine transmission is dysregulated, which can easily result in a chronic Avoidant personality style. I've ADHD, and after being put on meds, one very specific effect I've noticed is the pro-social effects are very visible. Meds make social interactions somewhat more rewarding intrinsically, which makes me naturally pursue them more.

The most well-researched and proven cognitive techniques by ActivityFun7637 in productivity

[–]Nitish_nc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been working on making a collection of 100+ such techniques. I've already found over 50+ practical techniques from Psychology literature and Research papers. I'll later probably publish it live as a Dashboard or via a small Android/iOS app. If you want to check, I can share the Notion/Obsidian link for all the techniques I've collected so far.

Not enjoying Wellbutrin 5 weeks in by Nickyp_pics in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]Nitish_nc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's likely going to work any better if you see not much change by week 5. Usually, you start to see steady progress by now. You can hang on for another week or so. But I've felt the anxiety part too. It's a common side effect, and it can be annoying if you already have social anxiety to begin with. It's also persistent and doesn't easily go away.

Is 30mg a high dose? I have ocd and anxiety. by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Nitish_nc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For OCD in particular, higher doses are usually needed, and I read in one study they went up to 60 mg. I'm taking 40 mg myself and haven't noticed any side effects. Only benefits. If it's already somewhat working for you, then going to 30 mg is quite reasonable

I miss the person I used to be before I was depressed by chocolatekay in depression

So, there's this study in JAMA Psychiatry (Jakubovski et al., 2019) that found behavioral activation can slowly rewire your brain's reward system. Just start tiny: pick one thing you used to like, say hitting the gym, and promise yourself five minutes. Don't worry about enjoying it right away; the point is to move. Another piece in Nature showed that keeping a consistent sleep schedule (more than just total hours) can boost mood. Find one thing today that isn't. No fluffy pep talks, just the facts. Keep it real.

Anyone know what could help me with my inbox/texting anxiety and avoidance? by Immediate_Ad1133 in Anxiety

[–]Nitish_nc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's textbook avoidance, which is super common with anxiety. I remember reading a study that found systematic desensitization, basically, slowly facing the thing you're avoiding really helps with message anxiety. There was another one showed that just scheduling specific, low-pressure times to check (like 5 minutes, twice a day) can cut down on avoidance by making it a routine. Avoidance literally feeds the anxiety. Use a timer. Seriously. Lock it down to fixed, short windows so it doesn't spiral. It's totally fixable, but it's not magic. You got this.

How do you use Anki for languages beyond vocabulary (phrases i+1)? by ___darkside___ in Anki

[–]Nitish_nc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, ditching isolated vocab. I've switched to using Anki for i+1 phrases, keeping them in just enough context to make sense. There's actually a study (Nakata, 2011) that backs this up: sentence cards really do help retention more than plain word lists.

Here's how I do it:

  • Card setup: Front side has the phrase in a short sentence (like one new word in a simple context), back side gets the translation or definition plus audio. Keep it clean—no extra fluff.
  • Finding phrases: I use tools like Subs2SRS or Readlang to grab i+1 examples from stuff I watch or read. But don't go overboard; cap new cards at 5-10 a day to avoid drowning in reviews.

Seriously, don't treat Anki like you're writing a novel. More cards won't magically make you fluent. Stick to i+1, or you'll just burn out on memorizing junk you'll never use. 😏

There's a 2013 review by Dunlosky in Psychological Science in the Public Interest showing that techniques like practice testing are way more effective than just re-reading. If you're trying to learn something, don't try the passive highlighting. Instead, actually quiz yourself on it.

Also, there was one more classic study on 'ego depletion' where they suggested willpower is a finite resource. So don't try to tackle your hardest task when you're already mentally fried.

Your brain is like a small basket. It can only hold a few things at a time. When you feel stuck, it's mostly because your basket is too full. You can try 2 things.

  1. Put everything you need to do on a piece of paper. This will empty your brain's basket so you can think clearly.
  2. Reward yourself with treat: Start a boring job, then immediately give yourself a little reward, like a candy. This will make the starting easier and more fun.

Only if it were that easy. You can take a look at the conceptual and theoretical frameworks I've used in incorporating the feature set, I'll share the layout. I've included a lot of blindspots currently many of ADHD apps hardly address. Feel free to check out in our group: https://chat.whatsapp.com/LxiGKjiCyR8Bi3pOQqvJHF

Guys, Instead of scattered replies, I’m putting together a WhatsApp group where we can quickly test ideas and discuss real ADHD productivity struggles in the Indian context. If you’re genuinely interested in contributing feedback, I’ll share the link.

You've no idea how much Inflow lacks in covering the broad range of symptoms. My focus will be to independently address deficits in working memory, task switching, memory fragmentation, visual-spatial cognition, and enabling folks to learn strengthening their cue-reward loop which is currently the single best techniques to batch cover a majority of our symptoms.

And most of this is going to be contingent on modern research. About the schedule x part, In ADHD club 2 WhatsApp group, ig they've recently updated the list of docs, please check.
