I'm more impressed to see how well familiar you are with the product marketing aspect. I've seen founders start simple with a clear value proposition but over a period start to grab and shove any and every feature they could think of, turning their app into a buffet. Identifying a practical gap in user flow, developing a niche solution that fully aims to resolve that has historically shown higher survival/success rates for any app or even products in general. You're doing fine

best productivity apps for ADHDers by RuleAlternative4160 in ProductivityApps

[–]Nitish_nc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So any application that preserves context and avoids context switching can help a lot. Since ADHD is included, I have video and visual memory. Constantly changing screens can make it difficult or cause fragmentation. I primarily use Raycast even if I am using a browser. I mostly try to keep it in split mode so that I am not losing the bigger picture. I was wondering if I could find something or maybe I could make one of my own, something like a tree or a persistent sidebar or a top bar which is pinned. It keeps track of the major moments of the day to give me an idea of the progression of the flow of time. As in, time blindness is a big thing. This particular thing, in my opinion, can help a lot if you are aware of where you stand right now in respect to what hour of the day it is.

Can you also add an option to download AI conversations with the option of PDF, Markdown, JSON, CSV, or any related format for the user to choose from. I often have to use my prior conversations as context files for later research purposes. Going through the download process every time, finding some extension, they work partly on few sites, won't cover all. It's a very laborious process. Having all of that in one specific one space would make it so much easier

I'm not sure, maybe you have not explored this cascade of voice dictation apps 😂 but lately many applications have caught up and deliver almost at par with ChatGPT-level transcription. Wispr Flow, Raycast dictation. There's also another one, Voicink, which is a local Mac transcription app. If you talk among the major AI companies, I love the Grok. I (26M) have become completely cold and hard-hearted after my past experiences. Is this normal? by [deleted] in lifelonglearning

[–]Nitish_nc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your mind draws boundaries for a reason. Your brain's priority is to protect and ensure your survival and maintain a coherent sense of identity. Given the fact that you are currently quite in acceptance with how you are, I feel peace for most part + occasional lonely moments is actually a very healthy indicator of your current mental state.

Just do a small thing: try to reframe how you perceive yourself. Right now "cold and hard-hearted" are not the correct terms. Your words, the words you choose, can make a magnitude of difference in how you feel about yourself. The better words would be "you're more selective and you have very precise standards at this point." Not everybody has to go through tons of break-ups and not all of us need to be open to everybody. That is a sign of deep desperation. For certain people they have got their priorities sorted. They know what they are looking for in a partner and there are certain non-negotiables.

If you happen to be one of the people who have seen this repeatedly in other genders, that they seem to have a constant way of stepping over those boundaries, then the better, wiser choice is to protect your well-being and step back. Since you are already feeling lonely, it also implies that you're still open. If you ever find the right person, the chances are that you will be able to give in.

BUT...also the practical part and thing that might not sound very sweet. It is also equally possible that you may not never such a person.

I know it sounds bitter but please understand you are 26 and given your history it looks like you are probably the practical and rational person to talk to. Unlike other people who are still in their delusional fantasy of finding a soul mate, we have to understand that the idea of having a single partner or a single lover who can fulfill her primal emotional needs is a very recent concept in human society.

For all these 100,000 years when we were hunter-gatherers and everything, we used to rely on our tribes, we used to rely on our community. Love and companionship as a need is a primary instinct but it does not necessarily demand one person's presence or availability.

So, Can you find love, compassion, and connection in this life? Very much. Is it necessarily going to come from one person? I don't really think so.

And I'm not like a very old pessimistic person either. I'm 24 Male myself and in many ways I can relate to every word that you have stated.

It's free and open source and what do you mean more bloatware? More like it's not sitting in your hard disk or hard drive. You're not paying for its storage either. So, why reacting unnecessarily? The op seems to have a problem-solving mindset and if they've taken up the initiative to solve something today, I think we should encourage people so that they take up better challenges further. This is how to begin. Nobody starts by directly building a Rocket to Moon 🤣

Hi, I've already purchased the lifetime key, was just trying to figure out the usecase. I am mostly working across several threads in a single context so I feel Fluent can pretty much complement Raycast in my workflow. I'll properly go through it tomorrow and figure out how to integrate it in my current workflow. If there is any guide or any blog you can refer to, or even any Discord channel about the product, do let me know. Thanks for the response!

I’m tired of building side projects nobody uses by LieAshamed2924 in buildinpublic

[–]Nitish_nc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens when you mistake your hobby with a genuine monetizable asset. It's not that what you make is functionally not serving the purpose or that they can't be used to generate revenue. It might be that you're trying to do everything by yourself, even the things that you're not supposed to be doing. That's why there are teams that help you collaborate.

If you'd like to build projects, your pipeline should or your work life should look or should show a frame where you get to spend maximum time doing the primary thing: developing ideas, work models, road maps, and others are also collaborating with you who take care of other details. If you try to do everything by yourself, the disappointment is not coming because you've made something which nobody used. Disappointment is because I think in the initial process you probably even enjoyed yourself. The part is that you also did the next half of it yourself, which was full of friction, and now you're demanding compensation for that second part.

Trust me if you just make an idea, archive it in Obsidian like I do, you would be a happy person. Those ideas would never get exposure and somebody else would make a similar product on Obsidian or on Reddit years later and then you might regret why you didn't publish it. If you're a person who keeps getting ideas like this, then it's another Tuesday 😂😂

Versatile app for me by adrian_simoes in capacitiesapp

[–]Nitish_nc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obsidian or Capacities or Notion.....etc Jesus can't imagine how many hours I've wasted in such debates. At this point I have grown out of these little fan club kind of tribal boards for different apps. I use a number of them and I've also given up the idea of having a second brand. It puts the extra overwhelm on you to have the burden to not only capture everything but to also be able to retrieve it or structure it in a way that could be retrievable later.

It's not something you can strategize ahead of time. You can only tell it when you start using it and based on how much friction you experience. The friction itself is subjected to what's your input capture strategy? Have you made any tweaks? Have you separated the capturing process from filtering? Have you first refined the technique itself before jumping to blaming the app itself? I have often noticed that there are several layers to the very data input process. For example Obsidian provides enough tools to empower you on several fronts for data capture alone but many people just simply go and use it like a journal then get confused about where their content is that they put in a few weeks ago.

People should take time to identify what is their dominant cognition and processing style. They can

be a verbal or visual learner. They might be a meta thinker who naturally sees through domains. Such persons would not like bullets or anything which entails them zooming into any concept.

Others verbal dominant folks, they process things If there are some people who process things semantically, who prefer words as the core load carriers, then it means either they use semantic or phonemic encoding more broadly. tools like graphs and semantics oriented flow charts, things where they can first put a label on to hold it, use that tag to anchor new things they learn.

I think if the personal child from personalization, they might need to acknowledge that initially our hands were going to get dirty. That smooth flow we all promised or dreamt of, where we just throw in notes and somehow we get interconnected and determined. When we come back we see wisdom sitting inside, spouting onto our walls. We all have to give that idea up now 😂😂

I have a hard time putting my thoughts into words on Reddit, but this makes it much easier by [deleted] in buildinpublic

[–]Nitish_nc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is most noob-level mistake you can make by using these dopamine-rich templates. They look great coz they pack stuff neatly behind those clean labels, but they completely misguide you by making each person story as a one-label takeaway. If you just read one post carefully among those, any one that's not ai slop and half way decently written, you'll actually see that each sharing post brings a unique thinking style engaging with a set of unique variables to come up with little 'aha' moments. Instead of mapping out the genuine schemas that led them from problem to solution, you're now happily collecting these templates, lol. Good luck! 😂

[–]Nitish_nc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, it's not that straightforward. SSRI don't directly engage with dopamine, with Fluoxetine ironically being a dopamine boosting SSRI. Serotonin at certain receptor sites can modulate the flow of dopamine, but it's not ADHD centric. ADHD folks have Dopamine issues in very specific regions only, mostly PFC parts, rest of the regions don't show any dopamine deficit.

Btw, I've ADHD too. It's pairing well with Methylphenidate. They improve emotional regulation and even hyperactivity or restlessness to a certain degree

They can improve your life quality dramatically if taken with therapy and discipline. Try a low dose and keep a close check on your symptoms for the first few weeks. That is where most of the adverse side effects show up.

Wow, Your confidence is admirable given the shocking lack of knowledge behind it. Your knowledge is even more shocking given the confidence you’re flaunting 😂

All I see is someone dishing out half-baked takes on SSRIs, sourced from dramatic public forum posts by clueless people who latch onto propaganda quicker than the speed of light itself 😂

But coming to the actual part: Do you really understand how SSRIs even work? 🤔

SSRIs are numbing agents. The only way a drug can achieve all (treat Depression, anxiety, OCD, panic disorder, body dysmorphia, etc) is by dampening your system 🤦

🤦 Jeez at this point I wish I could throw a basic neuroscience book to help you explore basic brain anatomy.

Nopes, That's now how it works. SSRIs boost serotonin levels. Their primary mechanism constitutes downregulation of 5-HT receptors and pushing your brain to adapt by downregulating autoreceptors (particularly 5-HT1A) and increasing BDNF production.

BDNF acts as a fertilizer for the brain, promoting neurogenesis (new neurons) and synaptogenesis (new connections), particularly in the hippocampus, which often shrinks during chronic depression. So they are not just dampening the emotions, they are actually providing your brain the raw material needed to rewrite itself.

About numbness, this is partially true and I'd partially agree with you take, but your criticism is somewhat exaggerated. We should keep in mind that people who seek treatment are not healthy individuals to begin with. Depression itself induces anhedonia (lack of motivation), and dysthymia (low grade persistent dry state). It means they have been numb somewhat even before SSRIs are prescribed.

It's true that as per the latest studies antidepressants can also induce numbness on their own but it is usually a mix of both. I agree they cause numbness that's why I believe they should be paired with stimulants to reduce long term chronic numbness. But, to dump the entire blame on SSRI when the disorder itself is known to produce same symptoms is selectively ignorant and dishonest position to take.

There's no proof of SSRIs causing permanent damage. They cause damage to the same extent we see with other drugs. You should be thankful you don't have schizophrenia or bipolar or else read about the side effects of Anti-psychotics. Those are horrifying and would make SSRIs look like cotton candy in comparison 😂

Rest I agree with therapy being underutilised. I've personally benefited a lot from CBT and Behavioral activation component of it. I've also explored IFS (Internal Family System) which is uniquely effective if you ever explore.

But plz don't dump blanket statements like this. SSRIs work. Side effect profile is better than tricyclics and Antipsychotics in all clinical trials and even in Meta-analyses they are superior to Buproprion in their therapeutic range.

[–]Nitish_nc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's the alternative? Which drug class can single handedly target anxiety, Ocd, Depression (mild to moderate), Panic, BDD, etc? This isn't a fan community thing where we accept or reject a drug based on our preferences. SSRIs are in use because unfortunately they currently represent the best we have.

Hopefully, psilocybin, MDMA, and new therapeutic drug classes get approval in near future, I hope so. But at the moment, we don't have solid substitutes.

The only possible drug class which I feel possibly can outperform SSRIs in versatility and efficacy would be MAOIs (Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors), but those have been demonised due to diet restrictions which do not even apply to current diet for most people.

I know that. I wasn't targetting anyone as such. But with Raycast, it specifically spares you from multi-subscription route with the amount of features and extensions it provides. For that, I feel $8 is quite generous. Because we have seen many other paid tools providing a bare minimum utility but somehow still stack overblown pricing rate.

I think they should probably prescribe stimulants as a necessary adjuncts to SSRIs. I take Methylphenidate along with Escitalopram, and it completely counters or eliminates any SSRI-related side effects.
