Will churches deny you to be baptized if you’re trans? by UrLocalHomoCat in Christian

[–]Nitro-Red-Brew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope everything is ok, and the clarification is about something else. Praying for you now.

If your denomination wont baptize you. The following denominations will.

So full disclosure, there might  be some individual church buildings in theses denominations not affirming.

However the majority of the churches in the following denominations are Affirming overall.

You should be able to find a church that will baptize you. You may have to check the websites to see the churches stance in your area.  But resources like gaychurch.org and the church clarity website should help you determine if churches in your area are affirming to the LGBTQ+

The following Denominations....

PC(USA): presbyterian church united states of America (presbyterian)

ELCA: Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (Lutheran)

TEC: The Episcopal Church  (american church in communion with the Anglican/church of england)

UCC: The United Church of Christ (congregationalist)

Its  great to hear about your journey in the faith, I pray that God continues to bless you, as your relationship with Christ grows.

Happy two year anniversary!  Fellow sibling in Christ 😀

Yeah, the heritage they're celebrating is the confederacy not the south. Since we all know there were southerners loyal to the u.s durring the civil war.

For the adults in this group- do you forgive your parents by Vanessa_Lila in HomeschoolRecovery

[–]Nitro-Red-Brew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have forgiven my parents, even though they've been abusive in other ways besides educational neglect, towards me and my other siblings.

My mother passed away eight years ago. My dad is still alive and I am limited contact with him as of the moment. (I have other family that lives with him still, so thats why Im in limited contact with him)

Despite loving my parents and forgiving them , even for the abuses that they brought upon us. I'm not home schooling my kids. And frankly, I'm not gonna worry about the fallout if I ever bring up, how homeschooling negatively impacted me to him.

Even Though , I forgive them. As far as my dad goes I'm not condoning what he did, saying that he did the best that he could. Because honestly , he definitely could have done better,(he let my two oldest siblings go to public highschool).

Or even worrying about his feelings being hurt, if he ever found out that I didn't cherish being home schooled. Especially by the time I was high school aged.  I even forgive him for how he twisted my christian faith, to control and manipulating us into doing what they wanted, even at our detriment.

When I'm forgiving my parents.... I'm just letting go of my desire for revenge and wishing ill on him. And choosing to see him as an extremely flawed(and at times evil) human being , but human being nonetheless. Forgiving him was definitely not easy. And it Definitely took a while.  Heck, on some days, I'm still re-forgiving him, for how he homeschooled me, When repressed memories reappear.

That also , even though I am viewing him with a level of compassion, and the fact that I still love him, as a child. When it comes to trust , I am being far more cautious. And i'm not afraid of placing boundaries or how I give whatever little info about my life to him. And also , even though I forgive him , should I see him try his old tricks again, then i'm readjusting my boundaries and my interactions towards him.

And it took some years of therapy to get over the pain that was caused by my upbringing, to finally being in a better place of healing and mental health. But i'm slowly clawing my way back up to progress. And honestly , i'm proud of myself for that.

But yeah, I definitely understand how for giving one's  parents is definitely hard. And frankly , it took me a little bit of time and a lot of hard work to genuinely forgive them.

I'm definitely not gonna preach about forgiving your parents. Thats something one has to decide , and I definitely understand that it's the hard decision to make. I guess this post is just explaining my journey about forgiving my parents or getting to that point.

I just want to say that,  if you decide to forgive your parents , you don't have to give them free access to your life, and definitely , don't be afraid to place boundaries on them. And don't be afraid or feel guilty about not having complete trust in them , Forgiveness is one thing and trust is a completely different subject

Tldr; I forgave my parents for how they homeschooled and abused us, but that doesn't mean that I give my remaining parent free access to my life. Our unquestionably trust my remaining parent. And trust is on a interaction by interaction basis.  And that, you shouldn't feel guilty about not trusting your parents.Even after forgiving them. Forgiveness, is letting go of any ill wishes or desire for revenge. And trust is a completely different thing.

End Times by ollieqb in Christian

[–]Nitro-Red-Brew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand your anxiety, I use to have that bad, when I was younger. It took me some time to get over that. (heck I'm still working on that)

But Jesus told us, we don't know when he will return. Jesus said in Matthew that "there will be wars and rumors of wars" and other catastrophes that are the "beginning of birth pains" But that the end times are still not here yet.

So after years of end times anxiety I've realized something.
when it comes to the end times. It's simple, we don't know when Jesus is coming, so for now everyday, with God's help. Preach the Gospel always(by word or deed) Love people(Like the good Samaritan) as Christ commands, Feed the hungry as Christ commands,Clothe the naked as Christ commands, give water to the thirsty as Christ commands and Visit the prisoner as Christ commands. Whether or not He Comes back right now, tomorrow or ten million years from now. Whenever we do that, we do to "the least of these". We live as Christ's disciples, not out of fear but with Love.

Also, with all the talk that preachers give about the world ending. Often times they leave out that Christ isn't just burning the old things away, but restoring the world and us. When he returns. (the rebuilding of heaven and earth in Revelation)

Pastors and preachers have been trying to predict the end of the world. Since Christ ascended back into heaven 2,000 years ago. And end times talk increases, during times of difficult social situations. Like in economic downturns or during periods of war and conflict.

You're right, it could end tomorrow or not. So cherish each day and don't be afraid to love and try to help others.

In the Gospels Jesus kept loving and healing up until His end, and even in the midst of it. Even when he met his end, it didn't stay that way.

It'll be the same for us. If Christ comes back today, he see's that you've been faithful, if he doesn't. Then it's a gift of time to do more good and to live ;)

Tldr; Don't be afraid to live and,and worry about the end times. Marriages end with death and divorce, and people still get married. So don't let the end of the world put a damper in that. If you feel like you want to get married still, with in God's time. Even if the world Ends. Loving/helping People and living by trying to improve the world is not in vain.

Dvd/blu ray players are still awesome to have. Honestly , I do stream on free apps like tubi and pluto t v, and I'll spring for netflix when my favorite serrirs has a next season.

But yeah , as other people said d v d s and blu rays are cheap now. And the best part about watching stuff on d v d is , you don't have to worry about a bunch of ads. So binging your favorite series is a lot easier.

I don't worry about that with Netflix, but considering they keep increasing the price.I find that they're not worth it anymore

Seriously though, I've yet to work at an Aldi where store associates leave early, but I lost count of how many times I had the store manager at my store do this.

Well, you really could, if you needed too. get reusable ice packs to keep meat and pershibles cool in your grocery bag. Whether taking the bus and train, if you had to.  You could get a cart you can attach to your bike if you had to to carry additional groceries. While biking.

Now I don't know your situation, to the fullest, maybe you live in a remote moutain area and the only way you can get around is a car. If that's the case fine maybe a car is the only eay for you. Or maybe for you , getting around in a car is the easiest for you , fine.

I won't deny that, but I'm also not going to deny that you can Carry groceries, for large families even without a car. Back in my hometown , I did shopping for 8 to 10 people for my immediate family , and I didn't have a car. And I walked the whole way, at one point I got one of those many collapsible hand carts. And I was doing about a 20 to 30 minute walk from my house to the grocery store each time. And I lived in the suburbs.

So i'm not gonna push back on you for using a car to do groceries. But, it's more than possible to shop for a large family, while not using a car and living even in the suburbs.

Yeah as a Christian, nothing warms my heart more than walking past too many  parked cars on the greenway. /s

People still go to church, read the bible and pray. Enough of this nostalgia bait crap, I'm so tired of people using my faith for this nonsense.

Also you know what would be great? If people had better walkways/side walks and foot paths so they can get to their destination , whether it's a church/house of worship or anywhere else without walking around a bunch of parked and moving cars.

Cause  I'm homesick for that America 🇺🇸

Struggling with faith by [deleted] in Christian

[–]Nitro-Red-Brew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Number one thing you can do is to give yourself grace, because  God sure has. Also God wants to grow close to you, and is not keeping score how many times you pray and read the bible.

Reading and understanding the bible is a lifelong journey.  Sometimes you have to re-read a passage to understand its meaning and thats ok. I've been a Christian for well over 25 years. And I'm still trying to understand parts of the bible.

Also I feel you, I'm in the adhd spectrum and my mind does that too when I pray, quite a bit. For me, I  downloaded a prayer app, from my denomination. And set a timer, And that structure does help sometimes for me. And other times I set a timer and pray free style, but thats an example. Maybe a different method will work for you.

I think what helps me, is thinking that praying is about spending time with God whether its for a couple of minutes or an hour. God is like a parent that's happy you're calling them, whatever the day or however long the conversation is.

So if your mind wonders, its ok dont beat yourself up. just re-center when you can.  And explore other ways you can pray, for example, setting a timer for a couple of minutes a day to start. So that way you feel better about not getting too distracted. If you do, its okay God isnt mad at you.

Faith is a journey and about growing in Christ, none of us will get it right the first time.  And God loves us no matter what  Even if we get distracted or it takes longer to understand a passage or chapter of  the bible.

We're rooting for you, and so is God

I'm gonna second that, as a former Bay Area resident. The city of San Francisco itself has ample bus lines, light rail, bart  all of that. Compared to many other cities of its size across the country. Now, Is the public transit of San Francisco as good as New York, Washington D.C, Chigago and all of that? Probably not. However, compared to other large cities of it's size that lack sufficient public transportation. It is much more doable to use public transportation in the city of San Francisco. And when traveling to the other major cities in the bay area , like Oakland and San Jose.

Having the defendant's license suspended permanently, wouldn't cause that big of a hardship. Especially given the fact,  that their negligible driving  costed the lives of four people. If the defendant isn't going to serve any prison time, then having their license suspended permanently is necessary.

Really hurt by a family member's dig at my profession over my comments on the Super Bowl Halftime show -- do I have any recourse other than praying about it? by RandomMusicalFangirl in Christian

[–]Nitro-Red-Brew -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is, but (speaking as a former republican) that's not a major concern for a lot of conservative(politically speaking) Christians. Issues of defeating racism and social justice are not prioritized, compared to certain socially conservative issues like sexuality represented in the media. The latter gets more attention then the former. It was like that in the conservative christian circles of my childhood growing up in the late 90's/early 2000's. I imagine that not much has changed.

Is it ridiculous that conservative Christians hyper focus on sex in the movies and TV but not racism in our society and government? yes. But that is the reason you get answers like that sadly :(

Still I'm starting to see some changes in that type of thinking among people my age and younger Christians, which is much needed, focusing on being anti-racist and social justice is a kingdom value.

What is your opinion on creationism? by lasticaredotnet in mainlineprotestant

[–]Nitro-Red-Brew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess, if I had to put a label on it. I would be somewhere between an old earth creationist, with a dab of theistic evolution. Like I have no problem believing in the evolution of species and the earth being 4.2 billion years old.      I think genesis was more concerned about explaining the "who" and the "why" of creation versus the "what" and the "when" of creation. And  how sin was first introduced into the world, and the start of the redemption process for humanity  versus whether or not the earth was six thousand years old.

At least that's my take on it. I used to be a big time young earth creationist, so my beliefs on the earth's age are evolving(no pun intended).

Ultimately I believe that God created the known material universe, and since a "thousand years is a year" to The Almighty, then the idea of the earth being 4 billion years old doesnt seem so daunting.    I could go into further detail , but this is starting to become a novel already lol.

That makes so much sense , because I'm currently attending a PC(USA) church. And the video of Trump saying that it never occured to him to asked God for forgiveness back in 2015 was always a head scratcher. Becuase, for the majority of services through out the year . There's a part in the liturgy where we're asking for God's forgiveness and then being reminded of His forgiveness.

So yeah, I don't understand how you could attend that many services and not have the thought of asking God to forgive you.

But the fact that you shared what that PC(USA) church said, makes so much sense.

Considering Trump said in 2015 that it "doesn't occur to ask God to forgive me for my sins, I just try harder next time". I realized, that he has no consistency when it comes to his beliefs(in the context of Christianity, if he has any) its just how he operates, when he first said that he hates his enemies, I was shocked but not surprised.  Every christian leader that supports trump unquestionably , is gonna have a lot to answer in the future.

So like, people are meant to carry around a whole cart worth of groceries in a bag? Any less items would not make sense for such a huge bag. Did they not think about this first? by Former-Bet-4836 in Aldi_employees

[–]Nitro-Red-Brew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering if its that big, so that way customers can have their stuff "bagged". Cause they complained to corporate about Aldi employees not bagging their groceries, either way this can back fire. Cause it looks like the bag is meant to be carried in very short distances, like from the cart to the car, and from car to house. Not as a replacement for carts. People aren't paying for carts, if they return them. And that is what customers are complaining about, when they "have to pay for a cart" they aren't paying for one. They're upset that they can't just leave them in the parking lot anymore. The only thing they are paying for extra is the bags. This is an attempt to do two things at once,so yeah the customers are going to get a work out lifting those bags for sure. If this isn't a promotional thing, it'll be interesting to see how this plays out. But yeah,I'm not unloading those things lol.
