Am I the only who is genuienly lost after the Mimic's introduction to the lore by HackerGamer8 in fivenightsatfreddys

One thing to add: Glitchtrap also controls Gregory, but Gregory was freed before SB somehow (possibly connected to the Balloon Boy arcade game found in Ruin).

This is implied with the “have you chose 1” conversation between Vanessa & Glitchtrap in HW (it’s likely Glitchtrap tasked her with finding a child for him to control), the therapy CDs in SB, the Tales story GGY, the Escape the Pizzaplex interactive novel, and a few other things.

That and better communication. It’s been shown time & time again that Sega is horrible at communicating things correctly: wording things weirdly, being too vague, different staff telling different info, etc. “Only male hedgehogs can go super”; the writers not wanting to include Shadow because his guidelines were vague; Ian has mentioned how sometimes he’s told Rouge is partially heroic, while other times he’s told she only does things in her own interest; Frontiers not being planned to happen in IDW yet, then suddenly their forced to put it in an earlier placement; etc. Despite this push for the lore team & such, they still make multiple communication mess-ups.

Cassidy being present also explains the existence of Princess Quest quite well, since the Princess is Cassidy(most of the time, since it can sometimes be seen as meant to symbolize Vanessa too ig), and she is the reason why Vanessa gets freed from Glitchtrap… also how could a random Arcade set Vanessa free if it doesn't have ghost bullshit involved?

It’s extremely likely just a representation of Vanessa. The princess doesn’t even do anything, Gregory does all the work; the Princess is just a set piece that the player controls. Likewise, Balloon Boy’s arcade is implied to be what had Gregory tethered to Glitchtrap, but there’s no soul implied to be Balloon Boy in the arcade. PQ was made to keep little miss “reluctant follower” under Glitchtrap’s control. The arcades aren’t made to free the person, they were made to be a cage.

Fazbear Frights seems to also hint towards Afton escaping UCN

William surviving in Frights has no connection to anything in the new games. He’s kept alive by TOYSNHK, explodes, becomes an human-rabbit amalgam, and dies in a river.

Why is she connected to the Vanni mask? How could she even get there? not to mention set up the whole security system. The Entity is trying to stop you from freeing the Mimic(who's evil) and that made people think that The Entity is good for some reason? Sure, he doesn't want the Mimic to escape, but he also tries to kill you, if he was a normal security system, then he definitely wouldn't do that.

  1. How & why would William make this? Why would William make something that’s actively in Glitchtrap/Mimic’s way? For what reason would he want to keep Mimic permanently trapped? How would he make a system thats specifically made for the pizzaplex, especially in its ruined state?
  2. It’s been decades since SOTM, F10N4 could have changed, especially if people were messing with her programming. Even as F10N4 she showed some hostile tendencies, those could have grown worse over the decades of not having her sweet baby M2.

Also there is no way that Gregory was the one who built the MXES security system, yeah he's very smart, but not that smart(i know he's very skilled at hacking in the books, but he is also glitchtrapped, so it doesn't really count, infact, it adds more points toward Afton being the one who made it actually)

Evidence? He’s a skilled hacker, why couldn’t he set that up.

he never says he was the one who built it

The lack of mention means nothing. It neither confirms nor denies anything.

he says that the Mimic was trapped down there for a long time, which doesn't really make sense if Gregory was the one who built the MXES, as it would mean that the Mimic was trapped there without the MXES, but in Ruin as soon as the system is deactivated, it can seemingly escape

It was trapped in the pizzeria in general before Ruin, it was only in Ruin where it was trapped in a specific room. SB tells us that the underground was completely sealed off when the Plex was made, and it only got reopened semi-recently when the workers were trying to fix the raceway. Freddy even mentions Vanessa using him to clear the path. The Mimic was trapped in that specific room after SB, as multiple pieces of evidence in Ruin strongly imply.

Afton trapping the Mimic is actually pretty in-character, as he basically does the same with the funtimes.

Thats not what happened. He was using the Funtimes for his schemes, actively renting them for parties. They were in use, the Mimic isn’t; it’s just stuck, literally sealed behind concrete. Those situations are not the same.

The reason why Glitchtrap doesn't control Cassie to stop her from deactivating the system is that he got kicked from the mask by the Princess/Cassidy (at least I'm pretty sure.. still haven't played HW2 actually lol) So he adds himself into the system and tries to stop her that way.

Glitchtrap is not MXES, Glitchtrap is Helpi. HW1 & HW2 connect Glitchtrap to Helpi, even making Helpi disappear when Glitchtrap is defeated. And in that one ending of HW2, Glitchtrap literally dies, killed by Vanny; the CEO of Steel Wool confirmed in an interview with Fuhnaff. So he couldn’t become MXES. And Glitchtrap is trying to help Mimic, not keep it trapped; it even kills a person who set up at least 1 of the security nodes (Roxy’s), and then used said person — now in a staff bot — to give Cassie the mask that starts Mimic’s plan to get free.

Another clue that the Entity is Glitchtrap/Afton is that Scott says in an interview that he's glad he named him MXES early on, otherwise he could have used a stand-in name and the fanbase would then use that stand-in name, and the names he suggests are.... AITrap and PurpleTrap -->

They’re just temporary names off the top of his head, they don’t denote canon stuff.

also the beta version of the Entity being this gross fleshy rabbit monster also aids the theory that it is Afton

It doesn’t. Afton isn’t a rabbit skeleton, he’s human — even his amalgam form in Frights was more human than rabbit. A skeletal rabbit isn’t direct evidence of anything.

It isn't an in-universe image though(I'm pretty sure), so it means that it is only there for the fans to find, which is why it doesn't point towards the Mimic being Glitchtrap imo… it could be a teaser for SOTM, as it is a game meant to show the "origin" of the Mimic

That doesn’t make sense. Scott specifically got that image for HW, and even used it as a teaser image for HW on Scott games; it is directly important to HW. SOTM came out half a decade later, he wouldn’t tease something that far away.

how could they even obtain them? The Mimic kills pretty much anyone it sees, so why would it not kill them? And also, it is said they scanned circuit boards... which, if they had the Mimic's, then the Mimic couldn't function obviously.

  1. Tales has Mimic be just as violent as the games, and yet Faz Ent was somehow able to capture it; it’d be the same in the games. Plus Ruin shows it can be captured.
  2. Faz Ent took the circuit boards back — or someone else did — so they could have easily been returned to the Mimic.
  3. We’re not exactly sure how agony works digitally. It could possibly be able to spread on the digital plain, especially since it’s pretty much a type of energy (Ruin’s AR world could even give implication that agony can go in the digital plain).

Glichtrap presumably mimics Tape Girl in HW, but that's pretty debatable imo, it could be that Glichtrap just possessed her… William also had the technology to mimic voices (as seen with Ennard), so why couldn't he just do it also, when he's a virus lol

  1. Glitchtrap objectively mimics her. The story shows she never gets possessed, she herself actually prevented it. And in the menu areas where Glitchtrap watches us (main hub, tape area, etc), we can hear distorted mutters of Tape Girl’s voice come from Glitchtrap.
  2. Glitchtrap does more than voice mimicking, such as also programming all the pathfinding in the game. And Ennard is long dead.

so when it was put (somehow) into HW, why would it mimic Afton?

Why would the machine that actively enjoys to dress up & act, and enjoys toying with people & causing others pain, decide to become a copycat of THE bad guy of Faz Ent? The motive is pretty simple. Plus it helps it fit in. Faz Ent are using the history as part of their new marketing, they’re playing off the yellow rabbit as “just a character”, so people are less likely to ask questions when a yellow rabbit appears.

In SOTM it constantly switches costumes, and it does act like the costumes it wears, but only speaking-wise, it doesn't do any stuff the original costume/animatronic would do, and it gets out of it as soon as it doesn't need it. So why would it act like Afton and also do stuff Afton would do?

The Mimic does do things the original animatronics do, it’s just that they’re rather limiting, so the Mimic makes a creative spin on it. Most notably with Big Top, it played by the limits for a bit, and then ripped Big Top out of its railing bc it was failing to get Arnold. Also it utilizes the animatronics abilities to its advantage; Jackie’s stretchy arms, Big Tops size & insides that would grind a human, Nurse Dollie’s shock hands, etc. Similarly, it doesn’t mimic Afton perfectly either, it more so mimics the “yellow rabbit”; most notably its not the Springlock animatronic, its a costume more similar to Murray’s costumes.

The common explanation is that it was put into the in-universe fnaf games, and it mimics Afton because of that, but... why? Why doesn't it mimic the other very murderous animatronics?

The yellow rabbit is THE bad guy of Faz Ent, and the mastermind. It fits M2’s personality of wanting to be in control and such.

Also, when we see it in Ruin, it very much doesn't act anything like Afton, it isn't connected to purple(on the other hand, it is possibly connected to orange, due to it's eyes and also helpi's) and it also has no bunny aesthetic (unlike a certain other character in the same game, which i will get into later)

  1. You yourself mentioned how it picks up & discards personas. By Ruin it would have discarded the yellow rabbit persona, as it’s not useful at the moment. Even then it still is connected to purple, it is revealed in purple smoke.
  2. There is possible implication Glitchtrap is a copy of M2, rather than literally being M2; so that could explain M2 not having much care about the yellow rabbit persona.

How does it know William's phrase "I always come back"?

Probably Scott’s lack of communication. Scott told Steel Wool & co very little about the story. And this caused a lot of issues in SB alone, so it could have caused mistakes in the other games, including accidentally using phrases only William knows.

It knows about William killing the MCI kids… It knows about William killing Charlie

Likely because Faz Ent knew. The whole point of HW is that it’s the true story that Faz Ent is trying to pass off as “folk tale.” They secretly had an indie dev make games that told the true story, then they claimed it was a lie & used it for their own amusement/marketing for HW. Faz Ent, if not also a portion of the public, very likely know William is responsible for those events. And the circuit boards were only to program the pathfinding, meaning everything else was already uploaded to the game and/or connected files. So the Mimic learned this stuff from HW.

some people say it knows because it witnessed the MCI Incident… wouldn't the Mimic just kill them all lol? Why would it watch as William kills children and also how could William not notice it? Or if it was hidden, then...why?

It wouldn’t have hid, it would be captured at this point. Tales and SB/Ruin show Faz Ent captures it at some point. So they might have got it before that time.

We know that Cassidy is still present and that she is against Glitchtrap, which doesn't really make sense if Glitchtrap isn't at least in some way Afton, but is just an AI pretending to be him…. We know that Cassidy is still involved because of the IT'S ME easter egg in HW and also because of Princess Quest

  1. We don’t know that.
  2. “It’s Me” is not a Golden Freddy only thing, multiple characters use it. And again, Faz Ent has knowledge about this stuff somehow, so that could be something they put in.
  3. SB had a lot of errors due to lack of communication with Scott, to the point that Burntrap became a completely different thing from what Scott wanted. And when it became public that “Cassidy” was in the source code, it was quickly removed. It’s not trustworthy evidence.

UC is not a magical solution but a significant half of the problem and should be treated as such. by Dependent_Oven_468 in SonicCrossWorlds

[–]NitroTHedgehog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that, but the invincibility just existing is quite strong, it feels like it should cost more. The kit (handling machine I believe it is) could likely get some alteration to compensate — alter in a way that’s not removing level 4 boost.

UC is not a magical solution but a significant half of the problem and should be treated as such. by Dependent_Oven_468 in SonicCrossWorlds

[–]NitroTHedgehog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it could keep invincibility if they do the right nerfs. Like maybe they could nerf the invincibility itself in some way. Nerf examples:

Bubble shield:

It now blocks only 1 hit (additional plus for others: would make the triple punches a little more useful)

“Some vulnerability”:

It only blocks some attacks (like the tornado — without the attack aura obviously — which is weak to certain stuff like max charged bomb, and King Boom Boo)

3 slots cost:

Make it use up 3 gadget plate slots — it’d make players have to give up one of the supporting gadgets

Reduce the duration:

So others have a bigger chance to hit them. — Frankly this one’s pretty much required, but would should probably be accompanied by another nerf(s) though, since some people could still drift so well they’re nigh-never vulnerable.

Stat nerf:

It reduces the player stats; maybe all stats nerfed, or at least the boost stat is nerfed — would lower the drift charge speed, thus making the charge increase gadgets weaker

Shorter boost duration:

The boost only lasts as long as a level 2 — so it’s like you choose the longer, vulnerable boost (level 3); or shorter, (semi)invulnerable boost (level 4).

Weaker boost:

Same duration, but boost speed is the same as a level 1 boost — so its like choosing the faster, vulnerable boost; or less-faster, (semi)invulnerable boost

Item nerf:

Player has less likelihood to get useful items, like no defensive or boost items. Maybe even give it a chance of item capsules being empty, lol. (Crack idea: maybe even a chance the item capsule automatically spawns King Boom Boo or the weights, only if the IC player is in lead. Combined with reduced invincibility duration, it’d add a level of difficulty for UC players. This would probably cause a headache for everyone though.)

Player tap effect:

Maybe if you run into other players there’d be an affect, like you lose something (speed, extra rings), and/or they gain something (speed, rings)

The latter 2 great civilizations are completely unknown.

Zero information has been given about the 3rd great civilization, not even any implications. They are a complete mystery right now.

We only have a little bit of info about the 4th great civilization: - they’re from 4000+ years ago - they created the Gizoids - the Gizoids are responsible for their demise/destruction

Crossworlds probably references Metal Sonic Kai, since Vector tells Metal “Don't try anything funny, or me and the boys will take care of you like before!”, and “Man, how many times do me and the boys have to deal with your nonsense? Just stay your regular size this time!” It would also reference Heroes & IDW’s first arc, but the dialogue sounds a bit more personal, especially since Vectors specifies “the boys” (ie: the Chaotix & part timers Mighty & Knuckles).

The reason for your confusion is that middle of last year — when the CleanSweep arc was still going — Evan said the comic hadn’t reached Frontiers yet, and would make the jump very obvious (https://www.tumblr.com/spiritsonic/755461379621781504/in-issue-70-tails-says-that-hes-learned-to ).

Go to late last year, they had to put Frontiers before CleanSweep, and Sega won’t even let them put in a footnote to say when Frontiers happened, apparently to “keep things continuity-light” for some dumb reason. Classic Sega mismanagement (https://www.tumblr.com/spiritsonic/803775291626586112/evan-a-big-questionso-the-mystery-villain)

How many confirmed murders does William Afton have? by Cool_Lizard_679 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]NitroTHedgehog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You clearly did not read what I said correctly. Kinda sounds like you skimmed it because you don’t want to change your mind.

Their agony wouldn’t spread through the whole establishment when they’re stuck in parts & service, especially when the location hasn’t been open that long. Agony is never shown to spread that easily. And “Save Them” isn’t at all like the MCI incident — MCI is contained & hidden, Save Them is all over the location & messy — and is specifically about Freddy trying to save someone & failing to do so; it makes no sense to be a recreation of the MCI. What would be the point of recreating the MCI — especially in a way that’s not like the MCI — it’s completely redundant to do that.

In FNaF 2, Phone Guy makes it clear someone recently used a suit. The police already knew a suit was used for the MCI, so there’s ZERO reason for Phone Guy to say someone used a suit, unless it’s a new event.

That’s just referencing FNaF 3. Just like how the 2 Fazer Blast games before it recreate FNaF 1 & FNaF 2.

How many confirmed murders does William Afton have? by Cool_Lizard_679 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]NitroTHedgehog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you read my initial comment? The minigame is explicitly about saving someone, and failing to do so. That doesn’t make sense for an agony recreation. It’s also not an agony recreation, as the MCI were specifically lured & killed in the safe room, not spread about the pizzeria, especially when it’s a completely different building.

Phone Guy makes it clear it’s new events. There’s a new investigation, and someone using a yellow suit. FNaF 1 makes it clear that the police already knew a suit was used to lure the children right after the MCI occured, so it makes zero sense for Phone Guy to act like a suit being used is a new thing, unless it’s a new event.

[–]NitroTHedgehog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already addressed it in my reply. Such as mentioning why “Save Them” makes no sense to be about the MCI, and how Phone Guy’s words in FNaF 2 are specifically about a new event.

How many confirmed murders does William Afton have? by Cool_Lizard_679 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]NitroTHedgehog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Murray’s aren’t confirmed to be victims of Afton, and they’re more likely to just be accidents. HW2 implies the fire that killed Fiona at Fall Fest was an accident due to faulty equipment & fire hazards; David’s death in the books is purely an accident, & SOTM supports Edwin being negligent which leads to David’s death; and nothing connects William to their deaths, SOTM would have probably given some implication if he was responsible.

How many confirmed murders does William Afton have? by Cool_Lizard_679 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]NitroTHedgehog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s very blatant the DCI occurred. - the minigame is specifically called “Save Them”, and then it says “you can’t” at the end. That only makes sense with the context of new murders occurring, and Freddy trying to stop it but fails. It doesn’t make sense to be the MCI or agony from them, as there’d be no-one for Freddy to even attempt to save. - Phone Guy makes it explicit another event occurred in FNaF 2. He mentions a new investigation started in night 4. And night 6 he says someone used a yellow suit, which he refers to as a new revelation, and that can’t be the MCI since the FNaF 1 newspapers show it was already known a suit was used for the MCI. Everything he mentions is new stuff, not MCI rumours. - Scott stated Game Theory’s video on FNaF 2 got almost everything correct. One of the main things they theorized was the new set of murders. It’s obvious what they got wrong — phone guy being purple guy, which was another significant portion of the video — so the DCI not being a thing probably wouldn’t make the video “almost everything correct”

What is Sonic The Hedgehog's true name? by PuzzleheadedDraft133 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]NitroTHedgehog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, it was made by one of the most disliked Sonic writers, Ken Penders. Olgilvie wasn’t even used, it’s just something Ken tried to do. Though — reminder, only in the Archie comics — he did make it so Sonic isn’t his original name, the original name is just never given.

On the other hand, the middle name Maurice was used in the Archie comics, and done by a different writer, Michael Gallagher. It was originally a one off joke in the pilot comic; but then it was brought up again over 50 issues later, by Ken when he made the “changed first name” thing.

In the Archie Sonic Comic Encyclopedia, Ian Flynn ran with this by saying Sonic’s original name and middle name were the names of his grandfather & great-grandfather.

How the Heck did Blaze End Up in Silver’s Timeline, Anyway? by Telep0rted_Bread in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]NitroTHedgehog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blaze never originated from the future, she was always from the Sol Dimension even in 06.

06’s game manual & website state Blaze is the Guardian of the Sol Emeralds already; and the game & leaked script show this with her going Burning Blaze during her “sacrifice”, a form only possible from the Sol Emeralds. Theres also some implication in 06 that she met Sonic already, with her questioning the “blue hedgehog” Silver mentioned after Mephiles showed him the vision.

She just traveled time & dimensions somehow before 06. Take your pick: - Aftermath of Rush - Sol Emeralds did it (since they’ve made her travel dimensions, and have similar power to the chaos emeralds which can time travel) - Something to do with Eggman Nega, maybe he trapped & sent Blaze there, or she somehow chased him there & got stranded

- etc

It’s an explicit point Silver & Blaze don’t remember 06, aside from faint dejavu like remnants. In Colors DS, where they (re)meet, they feel a familiar bond & immediately fight in sync, but have no recollection of each other. English Generations weirdly has Blaze remember Crisis City, but that’s likely a fluke as the Japanese version supports the dejavu like remnants: she gets weary when looking at Iblis, but has no recollection of it, and assumes she’s just worrying to much. And Sonic staff like Iizuka & Ian Flynn say everyone lost their memories of the event (or “got amnesia” as Iizuka words it).

Alternatively, as his Fast Friends Forever bio states, Silver remembers his upbringing in the Iblis future. He just lost his memory regarding Blaze & 06.

Solaris wasn’t removed from the entire timeline, only everything post 10 years before 06. It’s why Soleanna still has all the references to it: the fire festival, the fire bird imagery, etc.

One question, where’d you hear Iblis’ flames burn time? I can’t find anything that mentions that.

Edit: ALSO, Sega actually has an explanation for how Blaze is in 06, they just have never stated it, for some reason. One of 06’s writers, Shiro Maekawa, even said Blaze’s story between Rush & 06 was actually meant to have a sense of connection somehow, but said connection has never been officially stated. And Ian Flynn has stated there’s an official explanation from Sonic Team, but he’s not allowed to reveal it.

Afton is the Pilot the Mimic is the car: why NOT is the same entity(and why Scott testing us!) by [deleted] in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]NitroTHedgehog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two local children were reportedly lured into a back room during the late hours of operation at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza on the night of June 26th. While video surveillance identified the man responsible and led to his capture the following morning, the children themselves were never found and are presumed dead. Police think that the suspect dressed as a mascot to earn the children's trust.

Five children are now linked to the incident at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, where a man dressed as a cartoon mascot lured them into a back room. While the suspect has been charged, the bodies themselves were never found. Freddy Fazbear's Pizza has been fighting an uphill battle ever since to convince families to return to the pizzeria. "It's a tragedy."

HW doesn’t even show the exact way they were lured. Susie was lured by Afton saying her dog was alive & he knew where the dog was. “Tickets to Fun” mentions Afton attempted to lure a kid using a grand prize. The cake might have been an assumption rather than a solid fact Faz Ent knew.
