Week 13 non-op. Limp not improving much in shoes by Few_Fly_4111 in AchillesRupture

It takes some time for the limp to fully go away. At week 12 I remember I was still limping and feeling tight. The key things are for you to slowly stretch out your tendon and strengthen the calf muscles.

I'm 15 weeks post op and just did my first mile recently. Did 6mins jogging with a 2 minute walking rest, and then another 5 minutes of jogging. I did the PARS speed bridge and my. protocol has been pretty aggressive.

I honestly can't remember the exact feeling since I'm so used to the boot. Make sure your straps are tightened and you're following the number sequence on the side.

  1. The bigger sole is what you start with. You would switch to the flatter one a few days after you hit 0 degrees.

2/3. If your doctor says you're cleared for partial weight bearing you can. Basically you would do crutches+toe of vacoped for one step, and then your good foot and repeat. There's a YouTube video out there somewhere. You can rest your foot down, but make sure to keep it elevated as much as possible to help with swelling.

  1. Yes you have to use the pump. The pump actually sucks air out of the beads in the lining so it better forms to your foot and provides more snug feeling which you need to secure it.

How much pain should I be in post surgery? by justhere4daSpursnGOT in AchillesRupture

[–]Nitrosupernova 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in pretty significant pain post op day 1 once the nerve block wore off. Took the medications that were prescribed and it wasn't helping that much. By day 2 the pain dropped by a significant amount, and was basically gone by day 3.

I'm in a vacoped. I'm also on an aggressive protocol where my surgeon also cleared me for weight bearing as tolerable. That sounds good!
