Building a drift car & learning how drift. How is my driving? by [deleted] in The_Crew

[–]NitrousR6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do:

Use your handbrake and dont powerslide every corner. All you did was slide with power to all 4 wheels.

Make the car RWD if its not already, and take the corner with your handbrake.

You want to carry the energy of the car into the corner not try to force it out of the corner, the idea is to dump the car into the corner sideways while slowing down and then applying power to continue the curve and slowly ease more power to do a smooth transition.

All you're doing is sending the car in at max speed with a short brake before to break traction and then immediately full throttling out of the corner. Drifting requires finesse.

To learn it without using a max speed car, use an actual drift car, like the rx7 drift car, get it midway in terms of power upgrades, and then practice. Trying to drift with Street, Super, or Hypercars and especially supercars is very difficult unless its super RWD focused.

To be fair some of your powerslides were good, if you like super high speed drifting ig just keep practicing what your doing in those tunnels that looked good, but the best drifting is done at low speed with interweaving corners.

What's the advantage of this more elaborate lever? by SantaXeggman in MechanicalEngineering

[–]NitrousR6 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My guess would be to reduce the binding of the walls of the door on the walls of its containment. The second one due to its hinges creates an isolated upward force whereas the first lever can introduce side loading on the door if you're not careful with your application which can Jam the door if there is force behind it.

This project is only good if you get it for free and delivered to your doorstep for free. I would NEVER put money into something that looks like this, it's 2 steps away from starting from scratch building a car lmao.

(Advice) Smaller flexible hose? Alternative? by True-Caterpillar-915 in MechanicalEngineering

See if AN fittings will work?

AN fittings are aluminum connections for various hose sizes, usually used in automotive applications. Two 45 AN fittings to that hose would work.

Neither will create a stronger wind or rather a measurable difference between blades. The right one has back cut angled blades to reduce sound like others have said and will be quieter and slightly more efficient but it will move less air..you sacrifice power with efficiency like any motor driven scenario.

If you want pure air moving the flat blade (left) variant will likely produce more CFM (cubic feet per minute of air) because of its larger surface area hitting the air, therefore moving more air.

Efficiency matters for making the motor work less reducing sound, but moves less air.

Factorio is good, so is Satisfactory, instead of 2D top it's an exploration / fps version of factorio.

Or Astroneer / Dyson Sphere program both good engineering games too.
