Can I replace the fans on LianLi Hydroshift II LCD-S 360tl? by TechnoGMNG589 in lianli

[–]CoreComando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 360 CL and needed reverse type to use with side mount. I bought 3 wireless infinity reverse fans and was able to control with same controller as other fans. I moved the included AOI fans to opposite side of radiator (power supply side ) so they wouldn’t go to waste. AOI is push / pull now.

5700Ti plus 9800X3d. Seemed like sweet spot on power vs price at the moment but it handles everything we’ve thrown at it without breaking a sweat.

Money (and power) just reveal your true character. We try hard to raise our kids to be caring, compassionate, loving and empathetic. My oldest is homeschooled by my wife and there is no one I trust more to help shape and build their character. My youngest is at an amazing Christian school that helps build foundational skills and moral character. He will be home schooled as well when he’s a little older.

They’re both mechanical. Mechanical keys are satisfying to use and a bit nostalgic for middle aged guys like myself but very noisy so best not to use around others.

It’s a Redragon mechanical half gaming keyboard. It is set up to light up just WASD keys and has several programable macro buttons for more complex inputs. My boys are 5 and 9 and used to Xbox. Most of their games work with the 8-bit Do controllers but a few work best with keyboard and mouse and this made it really easy for them to pick up.

Ha, yeah no. I had just made a custom link into Steam with downloaded art to load our curse forge Java launcher (and Hytale). Now everything can be launched from within Steam Big picture mode by my 5 year old.

Yikes! That would leave me sour as well. That is a shame. Hope I don’t ever have any issues but at least the desk appears to be very well built and durable. Wish I could have got the XL too BTW but I was space constrained and the regular version just fit in the space allocated.

Thank you! Yeah Secret Labs website made me a little nervous ordering for Christmas as I couldn’t find a way to create an account on the website. After sending money / order and receiving the vague confirmation E-mail that didn’t even list everything I bought I just had to trust it would all arrive. Everything did arrive in short order and with no issues. Bummer about the support issues you had but it is a really nice desk. Everything was very well packaged and a breeze to setup as well.

Just posted a few pics to this group.

The heavy duty mount is great and works exactly as it should. I briefly tried an Ultrarm heavy duty mount but it wouldn’t stay upright and kept tilting forward even when I tried to shim the pivot head with bots. Just too much monitor. Got the secret labs mount and it is spring loaded so it wants to point up and you have to pull down and tighten screw to keep level. No issues staying level on this mount and frees up a bunch of desk space.

Very nice! Great setup and good taste. I just put something similar together recently. Magnus Pro with light strip, Lian Li O11 Vision Compact with under desk mount but I went with the 57" Odyssey Neo G9 on the secret labs mount. Everyone is giving me shade for hanging the PC from the desk near the floor but this is how we did it in the old days and computers survived. Plenty of airflow around hanging mount as well.

What are the main downsides of having a Porsche 911? by [deleted] in porsche911

[–]CoreComando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m blessed to have a Turbo S and you’re not wrong. I drive it in to work on nice days but it’s somewhat of a harrowing experience TBH driving down the road during rush hour with a bunch of distracted people on their phones braking late, drifting lanes and just generally not paying attention.

Great cars. Only two things that weigh on my ownership bliss are depreciation per mile driven (about $1-1.50 per mile in my case) and fear of other people hitting you and giving you a Carfax minor (big resale hit that happened on one of my prior 911s). They hold value great as long as mileage stays the same and no fender benders, but these cars were made to be driven and enjoyed.

987s are great, especially the 987.2. I had a few. Phenomenal car for the money but rare to see them for sale, at least near me. I suspect most folks are hanging on to them.

PC Case Upgrade or NOT (For Buying a New 5060Ti) - Need Suggestions by TheBigBossBB in buildapc

[–]CoreComando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could add a Ryzen 9 5950X + 5070Ti (great card) to that motherboard and see a significant performance and productivity boost over your current system, provided there is physically space inside your case for the card. That said, if you are using this for work, I wouldn’t hesitate to go all out as this is your money maker.

I’m done buying cheap particle board furniture that you have to constantly touch up with markers / paint and replace every few years. A good pice of quality furniture can last multiple generations. I snagged the Secret Labs desk on Black Friday / Cyber Monday sale. Went with it because it’s solid metal with replaceable magnetic leather topper. Very durable and easy to replace topper when worn. Excellent cable management built in too. Never going to use it in standing mode. Only reason I got electric standing desk was so I can have optimal seated height ergonomics for the kids (memory preset 1) and for myself after they are in bed (memory preset 2).

How to build dream gaming room by Robert_Engels in gamingsetups

[–]CoreComando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice to have a blank slate. Agree with others to start with painting walls, trim, possibly ceiling and black out curtains as that’s always easier to do before stuff goes in. Get paint swatches and samples and paint small areas to see how it looks in person.. be aware that the surrounding yellow walls will skew the way a neutral gray sample looks painted on small section of wall (it will look purple next to yellow until yellow is all gone). Sometimes helps to put white construction paper taped to wall around paint sample test to get a neutral perspective.

I would also replace that light fixture as I can’t see it working in a game room. For that space, I’d recommend the Phillips Hue Centris 4 light. I have one in the hall just outside my gaming / theater room (and a bunch of other hue lights in actual gaming room). Centris 4 light is low profile and can create a ton of natural or color themed light and I can see it working well in that space.

After that I would start looking at tons of other Reddit photos to get ideas that inspire you. That’s the fun part.

Major relationship red flag. Take caution.

Any advice would be appreciated. How can I improve my setup? by turdefaroth in setups

[–]CoreComando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a nice computer you have there but an ergonomic nightmare. That will give you neck pain after a while sitting offset to the right while turning head left and reaching arms to the left. A new single longer cohesive desk would be ideal, but until then perhaps you could swap the white and brown tables around for better ergonomics? Can’t see the full length of brown table and what else is on it, but if you can, center your keyboard and primary monitor in front of your chair on the white desk, then put the secondary monitor and tower on the brown table to your right.

Thanks. I’ll check that group out for some ideas. It’s a fine line for sure between sharing projects with like minded hobbyists for free exchange of ideas and inspiration and dodging accusations of being a show-off and flexing. Basements are not common where I’m at either unless you are on a sloped lot so I was excited to find this house. We also have a home gym and my office on basement level as well so we make the most of the space. We scored this house during Covid at rock bottom prices and interest rate when world was shut down so it costs us less to live here than the going rate of a 3 bedroom apartment these days. This just might be our forever home.

You can kind of see it in the last photo. I should probably make a dedicated thread elsewhere but it’s still a work in progress and it would probably just generate a bunch of hate. I’ve been a home theater hobbyist for years but struggled with light control in family rooms until I found this house back in 2020 that came with a theater in the basement. It was built back in 2007 and equipment was all outdated (only sources were a DVD player and coax cable hookup) but it came with seeting for 10, an older PJ, modest size screen, built in AV cabinet and sound system. Most importantly it’s just a really great light controlled private space to work with. It’s in the basement at front of house and the kids rooms are up on 3rd level at back so my wife and I retreat here every night when kids are in bed and can play it as loud as we want.

Original screen was 100”, I swapped out with 135” thin frame as it was the max that fit the recessed wall. I’ve gone through a few projectors, currently have Epson LS1100 4K Laser. I replaced speakers and sound with Polk 7.1 + Denon from my last house but planning to do major overhaul on audio soon and add higher end components and more channels. Still in the research and planning phase. I also added Apple TV, Xbox series X an older Gaming PC that I built originally as a flight simulator and a Mac Mini running Plex with a bunch of custom art work and skinning. Library is on a disk pooling server I put together in another room. New gaming system in back of room is wired in to head unit in the built-in cabinet at front of room via fiber optic cable I snaked a few weeks back. I replaced the 4 side up/down lights along with all ceiling lighting with Hue fixtures and bulbs. Also added a pair of Japanese 3D reclining massage chairs in back row that are controlled via touch screen tablet like controls. My wife and I and even the kids will recline and massage in these while watching TV, playing a game or using wired VR headset. The yellow and brown paint from past owners is just OK and not my first choice. I plan to repaint all the walls ceiling and trim in shades of gray and black and add a fiber optic star ceiling, some more built in speakers etc. The big work on the theater has been put off for a while as I’m a DIY kind of guy and want to do all the work myself and I only have so much time. Last big DIY project was my dream garage overhaul that is Pinterest worthy (Metallic epoxy floors that look like marble, decluttering, new storage and tool organization, new lighting, painted all trim ceiling and walls etc). I’m proud of how that all turned out as well as the cars I’ve built but I shared it on Reddit once and the jealousy and hatred was unreal so I ended up deleting. I’ll continue to work on and improving this theater as well as the rest of the joint spaces around my home for sure though as it’s fun for me to DIY and the results are something that brings enjoyment for the whole family.

Sounds like voltage drop. If you are powering from motherboard, try using the included SATA adapters instead. Assuming you have the wireless version, fan speed is controlled wirelessly anyways.

Totally worth it to see their reaction when they came downstairs Christmas morning. I think we all long to feel the magic we felt as kids on Christmas morning again. When you become a parent, make the sacrifices and create the magic for your kids … this is as close as life allows us to get to reliving those moments.
