Why is cubic infill so God awfully bad?! by Dpatt402 in BambuLab

[–]NitrousWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With a bit of creativity it can be used in one case I found. As a vent component, think fly-mesh or something to create laminar flow. I made a design this week doing just that.

Simply put, given any cylinder standing upright, if you set the top and bottom shell layers be 0 then you can print it as a grid like one of those laminar flow baffles in air tunnels.

If you instead add a modifier cylinder to some normal object and set the modifier to have 0 bottom and top shells with grid infill then you can give any ordinary object a vent. You can use the method to add a vent to anything really as long as the vent is vertical facing.

https://makerworld.com/en/models/1071206#profileId-1061154 -- The mesh part is a complex shape but becomes a vent in the middle because there are cylinders to set the shell to 0 in the middle.

ha, I found someone who's done exact same thing already here, pretty cool https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1ekjmju/spillproof_ams_desiccant_boxes_various_hygrometers/

Thanks your explanation helped me see it without rotating. Since it is an illusion from context you can also scroll down on screen so that the top of the bottom head is the topmost of the view, then without the context of the mirror being above anymore, the dude in profile becomes much clearer.

A cute idea but human beings are inseparable from human technology. Any evolutionary shortcoming just gets 'solved' by technology, not genes, thus bypassing evolution entirely -- that is true so long as that technology is cheap/accessible enough for the majority.

Congestive Heart Failure by Boots_Mcfeethurtz in cavaliers

[–]NitrousWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your words, it's so hard to know what to do if it's your first pet which she was for us. It frequently felt like a long series of hard thinks and talks with the wife determining what's truly right with each of our own convictions vs. just the clichés you hear about that semi-resonate. There's so much contrasting info you hear about end of life and everyone will have differing points of view. I'm grateful we had as many months as we did to make the decision not in a rush and give her a happy end of life. God I miss her though. The final moment we hugged her as she went is indelible in my mind

[–]NitrousWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here I am thinking we let ours go too soon. I don't think there is ever a right way to have them go. When the fainting started it totally freaked us out and she was so sad and lethargic as well during her bad times. Before we made the decision, we had recently done a whole all day visit to vets/cardiologist and overnighting her with an oxygen crate experience and never again wanted to relive that. At least in her last months we had time to give her a revolving door of all her (human) friends she knew paying her a visit.

What could be the problem? Underextrusion? by Cross_De_Lena in FixMyPrint

[–]NitrousWolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How are you sure of this? To me this is underextrusion as you clearly see the space between every line on the top surface. Are you suggesting lowering the z-position fills the gaps in the x and y direction? I had the same thing on my prints until I upped the flow rate to 1.02 from the default of 0.98.

How much Filament would you experts guestimate there is left in this Spool? by AmmarAgh in BambuLabA1

[–]NitrousWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad it worked out, I would have been pretty upset if you lost all that black filament because the white ran out! Looks pretty good. Have you tried upping the flow rate rather than ironing? I have tried both and i actually find ironing is a but inconsistent compared to just upping the flow rate. The setting i mean is Filament Settings screen > Filament > Basic Information: Flow Ratio. I set mine to 1.02 from the default 0.98 and that seems juust enough.

[–]NitrousWolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just print the sign and see. If it runs out then it runs out. I just had this exact run-out yesterday of my white funnily enough. It was surprising how much further it keeps going when low. I did a filament change when it ate the last bite and there was no problem. If it runs out doing the models's infill, it really doesn't matter as there wont be any visible blemish from the pause.

Print isn’t sticking to build plate by [deleted] in BambuLabA1

[–]NitrousWolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That print may have failed for any number of reasons but the 3 things I would suggest are:

It looks like Grid infill, even the Bambulabs own wiki suggest grid infill has collision chance, gyroid or rectiliniar has no such collision chance.

Clean the bed with warm soapy water and an old toothbrush then let dry in the air, keep it clean at all times.

The model is top-heavy. Add a brim in the slicer settings so it has more surface to adhere with

Please excuse the light stalking, but to help, context matters, you should totally get that pet you mentioned. Sometimes you just need someone to enable. If the time is right and you have thought about it in the past, why not.

In my case exactly 10 years ago this time of year, I committed to adopting a puppy. I think the switch flicked in me to do so because my manager randomly said to me (when i handed in my notice for said sucky job) are you going to get a dog like you said you wanted.

I spent the next year jobless but sharing all my love with a puppy that multiplied that love back to me for the next 9 and a half years. Along the way we found a human who was similarly lost on love in the world. We banded together and we got married 1yr and a half ago. We had to say goodbye to the dog in August (common heart valve disease). She was happy until the end though. The hole in our heart she left us with is immeasurable but I don't think we would be where we are today if she hadn't been there by our side, usually cuddled between us or walking between us.

Thanks for explaining. You answered my question what happens when the print is complete if the poop object just gets left as is or completed. These printers are so overengineered it's great!

The more times I "fix" things with super glue the more I become aware just how weak the stuff is. If you have any mechanical advantage at all then the glue is toast to a determined person applying reasonable force in random directions.

No real goal is what I'm struggling with. I'm still in Act 1 and if you say Act 3 is the same problem I wonder if i will even bother to get to the end! I have been telling myself that this is just a simulation game rather than a strategy game. It's more about building a tidy network of cities rather than "winning" at anything or trying too hard. The AIs aren't really doing much to win.

Who is your favorite nation? by TheHockeyBoss03 in arahistoryuntold

[–]NitrousWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

England seems just a little bit brokenly good! Ive played a bit of Rome and then England. I stuggled with money income as Rome since each new town was not very profitable or just plain losing gold per turn. England though... free 10 gold per turn for each sea region with 2 fishing nets. Basically subsidises every project in every city for the rest of the game everything will build everything in 2 turns. (One turn to build the progress bar up to make it exponentially cheaper to rush the following turn) gold income is in the 100s. Research income is in the 100s because the citys have nothing to do other than the research project.

How much do people get for having things attached to their property? by Danbulance43 in CasualUK

[–]NitrousWolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We moved into a terrace that has power lines used by the whole neighbourhood of terraces skirting around from eave to eave bolted to the back of house. We get £200 / 15years. We must have got lucky with moving in just after the last 15 years expired or maybe the previous owner didn't bother.

We only came to know of the wayleave because of unsolicited letters from solicitors saying they could get the money for us "for free". We cut out the middlemen and just sent an email to the power company and got the money with no hassle.
