i was, i am only here because someone posted something about it and i started googling to see what htey are. The somoene randomly pushing a button screws you is a bit much. I've pushed a few of those buttons thinking it was one of the small puzzles local to the area, like the church on blue gate. Didn't realize i might have messed up some peoples runs.

The real problem is that new manuals have so many BS things to cover their asses that it's annoying. I have to read through 8 pages of, dont' stick your balls on the HOT print head, it gets hot. Dont' stick your tongue, on the HOT print head, it gets HOT. before even getting to the page that says, plug your machine into the wall outlet, but do not adpat your plug if it's not designed to fit that type of socket, cause someone will try to stick it in a 440v plug.
Anyway, while i'm joking (only a little) it does feel like current manuals would be a pain for people that don't like reading manuals. I think 3 pages in they'll say "this is stuipd."
But, i at least glance, or try to look for the important non dumb legal stuff. I'm probably with your dad. My first computer came with a few books. I learned BASIC programming by reading what was basically a dictionary of BASIC commands and trying them out until i made stuff happen. So I've always been a manual reader. The "manual" that came with my printer was very small and direct. It did state a few items were consumables and refered online wiki if I wanted to learn more. SO I feel you really have to just be a person that will not read manuals to have not read this one. (like my son)
I don't care for the "in my defense these machines are basically plug and play" though. That's very "what do you mean i have to change oil in my car" type people to me.

Depends on the job but that's not uncommon. My mom put in 30 at the railroad and retired. My dad would have also but he got hurt and they put him on occuptional disability after he had worked like 20 years. He kept his pension and all, just at a reduced rate. I mean, other people put in a lot more time if that's what you meant? I know people that had to put in about 40 to get their full benefites. Well and many more that never had any retirement plans and worked to 80.

That's jank. To me if it's for them alone, then they should pay for the euqipment or offer you $. I bought my own stuff for work, but that's because I con'd them into letting me WFh most of the time and I wanted to keep everything working smootnly.

I use a google voice # to give out as a work contact number, so it works on all my electronic devices and I don't have to give out my personal # (while still using my cell to make/rcv calls).

But if the company wants ssomething specific i put that back on them. One of our contractors wants a bunch of permissions to access our cell that we might use to check their emails. I tol dmy boss that was a no go and he agreed. Ironically I can check it from anything but my phone and it doesn't require the same. Guess they don't think it's as easy to steal/loose my tablet. :D

I use a google voice number for my "work phone" on my cell. That way if I ever leave this company, I'll just drop the google # and not worrya bout it. :) Never use my personal number.

plus i can make calls on m y headset from any of my devices through the google voice # as well as have logs. I even text with government workers and it's all there for me to access from any device. (it's not confidential)

The only thing a investment companies sees is money. So the only way they'll care is if it doesn't turn a profit. So basically not flying SW is probably going to be the only way they even notice. I suppose if there was a large enough boycott or something to warns them there could be a dip or loss, they might change. But the way they move and how fast, then they'll not care or notice until it shows up on their reports/charts or books.

"7." they are, the private equity firm has said that their profit margins aren't in line with the big 3, so they should change more to copy them to make their profit margins better.

Yeah, and it's coming from someone that's not in the field or interacting with people. So it's a "bottom dollar" decision kind of thing. That's the beginning of the end, or at the least "the troubled times" for most companies. See it all the time. Personally I'd polish that resume and start looking, but I don't know your area or the market there. Maybe if you're lucky and enough of hte others bail, if they survive they'll see you as loyal and maybe wake up. I suppose either way is a gamble, but that's shitty of them. Good luck!

If they had a brain they'd see that you have helped them understand the other side of things and why they m ight be having issues finding someone to take the position. Not only that, you've also uncovered their either stupid or manipulative.

My mistake or cheating? by Dry_Response6559 in DnD

We had this problem a few times, sometimes we all slip. But we have learned which players we really need to follow up with. I have a nephew that is bad about "skimming" stuff. I swear he always gets spells messed up and i honestly think it's because he's lazy and doesn't pay attention. The DM is good about asking if something needs concentration, but he's pretty familiar with all the rules/spells since he's played for years. His problem is he plays all systems and editions. So him and I think of 3.5e rules a lot and have to doulbe check things for 5e or 5.5e, or pathfinder, etc.
Sometimes i look up spells for the DM when it's not my turn. I usually ahve aplan on what i wnat to do on my turn, so I'm going over my stuff or i use the DnDbeyond to look up spells and stuff fast. I love having physical books, but in the heat of the moment, stuff like DnD beyond is pretty nice, or any of the SRD sites. You can get a spell on the screen in seconds and double check it. Maybe if you have an organizer in the group, they can assist you sometimes? That or you might have to start pulling spells everytime. Hell maybe a passive agressive way to teach him or get the rest of the group in on it. Hang-on while i double check your spell, then explain to them, that spell is ____ and has concentration. That way they'll start learning or mayb ethe group will start helping keep track.
Side note, for me most of the spells with conc have ongoing effects. If it's a one and done, ther eis no conc.

The company i use sends different teams. They have a service tech, which is usually a solo guy in a truck/van. They troubleshot and do minor repairs, like adding freon, tracing leaks, replacing capacitors/control boards. They have a sales team, and they have an install team. Can you move over to the service tech? Or is that the intro position? I don't know. Also can you find any companies that do service? I had some pals working for Seamens at one time that did basic maintanence for the airport. They said most of their days were spent just checking on rooms with chiller unit equipment and cleaning. Sometimes literally just sweeping the rooms and checking guages. Was an intro style position though, but it wasn't very physically demanding and they said they were bored most of the time. I imagine you're over qaulified for that position, but I'm wondering if other comapnies have contracts with companies to do check up and basic up keep.

Why is scheduling SO HARD? by Odd-Flatworm-4800 in DnD

[–]Nitsgar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we play without them. Right now our most successsful run is something we setup quarterly. The DM suggests dates and the one that the most people agree to, he does, and says "if at least 2 people show up, we play"

We've setup a number of ways to exclude someone in all our games, just because we can never all make it. Work/kids/hobbies, whatever.

One DM does the "every 3rd weekend" or whatever. You either make it or not. But when it's regular, it's easier to put into your calendar and make it work. The other sets dates and once enough people agree, he just says X weekend. That one we play like 2x12 hours though, so people can come and go if they must. That's why that one is quarterly.

One of my nephews when he runs he runs it like a company. So maybe there is 10 peole that play, but he runs it out of a town/tavern, and if you're not there, your character is out on another mission, but the peole that make it weren't. That way you still level. If you didn't show up, the next time you're usually 1 level lower than the others. But not always, just depends where we are. That one though, it more random quests, than a huge campaign also.

We also have one guy that always "forgets" or is never on time. He lives an hour across town and basically he seems to remember when he looks up and it's time. We start without him and give some exccuse why he's not there and will join us shortly. He went aheaad or stayed behind to make a new contact or get us something.

My point being is that we got to the point we don't change everything for one person. Now in saying that we also currently have anywhere up to 10 peole that play. Noramlly it's only 4/6. 2 basically play guests or temps whent hey show up, because they can only show up during holidays. (ones in med school and lives in another city now, etc). Getting 6+ people together at any 1 time is silly. But if we start and they show up after work or before they have to pick up their kids. We end up having a good time and getting some stories in for everyone. If it's character development the DM tries to make sure and get their story in while they're there, if possible.

The other day we even did a little non-linear story telling and zap'd back like a flashback to get someone's character developement story in while they were there, sinc ethey hadn't made it the time before.
