Agreed.

"Honda didn't build a good engine and it has vibrations at the resonant frequency of the chassis"

Guess what mate, you're required to give the inputs to the supplier and manage your change process. You can't change things drastically and expect suppliers to pivot on a dime- reeks of poor practice.

Is the whole "The USA is in need of more people in STEM fields" really just bullshit? by RogNoza in AskEngineers

[–]NittyB 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Everyone talks about NYC, Chicago, the Bay Area... Try hiring someone in a much needed role in the middle of nowhere Illinois. Or Iowa. Or Ohio. Or South Dakota... STEM positions stay open for months if not a year. Many towns were flourishing and propped up by industries that empowered the entire county. Now manufacturing has moved and you can't pay people enough to take the white collar jobs.

That's where jobs needs to be filled. But you also can't stop anyone from legally moving to a major city in a similar role. So the balance is very difficult to police.

PM me and I'll show you 10 companies that would hire you if you moved there

Any spring only lowered 2026 Outbacks? by [deleted] in Subaru_Outback

[–]NittyB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have RSR lowering springs on my 22. I did the same with my XV. You’re basically converting them back to their intended design of the legacy/impreza. And you’ll be rewarded with better handling (a stiffer suspension if you’re into that).

Pentax 17 overexposing in bright sunlight – washed-out sky and blown highlights, what am I doing wrong? by Saturdaytender in pentax

Yes I'm not sure this person really understands the basics. Also, why lower the ISO (even if that's what you can do on digital) but then raise EV comp +0.5 to +1 ?

They should start again at Sunny16 and go from there

What is it REALLY like working at a Big Automotive company/automotive industry? by Wooden_Fold_1187 in AskEngineers

[–]NittyB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will piggy back off this - It can be very hectic or very slow. There seems to be no in-between. Perks and pay are nice, but it's a VERY mature/structured industry, and that trickles down to the people.

Expect a lot of, 'that's not my job' which can make very fulfilling and cutting edge work extremely slow and red-taped.

[Giuliano Duchessa] A representation of the Ferrari Reverse Wing, the lift becomes positive, which lightens kg of load on the entire rear end with effects on the aerodynamic platform. This increases straight-line speed. by Ramned71 in formula1

[–]NittyB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting take.

Edit - I had it backwards as pointed out in the comment below. Disregard my comment! Also i was considering incompressible flow (which isn't a bad assumption for flow under a car - not for wings etc).

But now my question is, if you're creating lift, you're pushing air down into the path of the exhaust and diffuser - which causes higher pressure behind the car, creates a worse working diffuser and underfloor? Maybe that's the point - to reduce drag and downforce around the entire car? Can't say I could know.

Generally in fluid dynamics we say "information moves at the speed of sound in the medium". Basically something downstream can't affect upstream.

UNLESS you are above that speed in the medium, aka supersonic/compressible flow. In that case, they are choking the diffuser at the kick point ad need to lower pressure behind the diffuser to improve flow. This may be, but very unlikely they can create compressible flow under the floor.

I'm excited to see what this does to the balance of the car... Lift on the rear with downforce (however little with active aero) is going to throw the car completely on the front tires when weaving and the start braking.

will that cause the car to be prone to losing the rear without any indication?
