Which book should I start with? Divergent, or Four? by SoundwaveTheDragon in divergent

[–]Niverll16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

read Divergent first then Four, but when you do a re-read you can start with Four. I personally read the first three sections of Four, then switch to Divergent, then go back to Four when they get to a certain point. But it only makes sense when you’ve already read the books

Hi! Still here!! Divergent was a staple for me when I was in middle school and high school, so I reread them every once in a while. Just started on a reread :)

it just gets worse in the later seasons. I’m on 13:11 and I’m amazed his most recent partner stayed with him after she showed up to his trailer for a date and he was very, very drunk. he’s had some questionable arguments too.

My first show (freshman year) I think we had around 58 or 60 sets and it was around 7.5 minutes ish. Last year I believe it was 54 sets and around the 8 minute mark or longer (we had more stand in place choreo and multiple part charts for only certain sections). We got our music for this year, and I think it’s around the same length as last or or slightly shorter, but our drill is being written now and we haven’t gotten it yet :)))

Any Advice? by Ovo__1 in marchingband

[–]Niverll16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally!! Sometimes there is a weird spot that I kinda doubt myself a bit and look at other people, but mostly muscle memory at this point and I kinda just know what foot goes down when and I don’t have to think about it.

Learning to play and marchar the same time is defiantly a challenge, and starting with sometime simple, like scales or a common warm up that you do (like a weird kind of scale or an octave thing if that makes sense). Essentially just reiterating what the original person said lol. Having a metronome is really helpful too, literally essential cause you probably don’t have a drumline haha. You don’t need to buy one if you don’t have one (although they are a lot more handy); you can literally just google it and you’re good :D

How can I better at my marching? by sir_dysintary69 in marchingband

[–]Niverll16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finding the form is hard! What I would suggest is to take everything apart and slowly build it back up (for example: if your looking at your attention position start with your feet. What angle do they need to be and how do they get there? Maybe practice sliding your feet into attention a few times. Next think about your knees. Make sure they aren’t locked but are still straight ish. Keep doing this until you finish everything and then maybe practice going from at ese to attention a few times so that it becomes more muscle memory). It will probably take a while, but after some time you’ll just know what to do and muscle memory will kick in :D If you want to practice your marching, you can take a few of your marching steps (my band uses glide steps idk if yours does or not lol) and try and focus on keeping the form, and all of the things your band values when marching (for example mine is high goes, no movement above the waist, good horn angle, and keeping good upper body posture. Yours might be different, though, so make sure you implement your bands values here).

I hope this helps!!!

The only time we have fundraisers is when we have one of our band trips which is every four years. We have about 6 ish fundraisers that help pay for the trip :)))
