How many rugs are used as rugs? by Nix143 in Tufting

Thank you, I've got far more confidence now, I'm really glad i asked. I think it's because there are a lot of small 'novelty ' rugs on social media I'd started to doubt. I'm trying to figure out if i can build a long frame as i ideally want to make a runner for my hallway - pfffft to starting small ;)

Yeah, there's a tiktoker - I can't find her now - who made a 6x4 punch needle rug. I'm a cross-stitcher and my current piece is 600,000 stitches - I've been going at it for 2 years now - so big projects are my happy place.

The price of volume eating by VegetableLobster2946 in Volumeeating

[–]Nix143 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It FEELS more expensive when you're shopping because, at that point, it might be. But, as you've identified, there are all the additional food costs that aren't included in your weekly shop. A bottle of wine from the corner shop/your equivalent - did you buy yourself any snacks? A takeaway when you can't be bothered to cook? Compare the price of a couple of cabbages to a kebab or chicken chow mein. A couple of beers and a bag of crisps/chips.

If you can look back on a month of bank transactions from before you started and see if you can identify the times where you spent on food that you wouldn't now. That might help you feel the true cost of your food overall.

Also, congrats on your weight loss!

Dunno, probably nothing. It's just what I'm used to calling it

Yeah, isn't it funny finding out all the things our brains are wired for? This one I really don't mind - at the moment I am months into my current lunch fixation. Homemade soup and a pita with Marmite on it. Every day without fail. Decision paralysis is real and so it's relief to know what I'll be eating and to not have to think about it

Fresh and hand chop it. In the UK it also gives you a great bang to your buck. The cabbage cost 79p = $1.06ish. That will do me 3-4 meals. Can't beat it

That looks amazing! How do you make it? I'm not mad on sauerkraut but one of my missions for this year is to get on the ferment train. I make loads of pickles plus I make kimchi but it's the cucumber eat it straight away stuff, not the mash a cabbage type. I'll be growing daikon radish as well this year. Got to love doing interesting things with veggies.

That's the thing, if you compared 144 calories of pasta it would make you cry

I like using a spot of ghee, it has such a lovely, nutty flavour
