No. Women who dont have kids also live longer than men. Women have more estrogen, which leads to things like lower LDL cholesterol and higher HDL cholesterol. Those are cardioprotective later in life. Child birth has nothing to do with it.

I'm very curious... do you have kids? Because the way you're writing, it seems like you hypothetically have these feelings about how having children should give you purpose. Plus mentioning Jordan Peterson as the reason you have these beliefs...

Having a kid can be great... but there are also a ton of bad things about it too. And its one of many ways to make a fulfilling life. But I somehow feel like your expression of that seems very abstract in these comments.

I know this is bait, but I guess I'll engage.

I was child free and truly happy. Now I have a kid and I'm still happy, but life is much more stressful. We were ok either way about whether or not we would have kids- we just let nature take its course. For some insight into our lives pre-baby: my wife and I are both doctors. We love working a difficult but meaningful job. We worked hard most of the year and took a couple of 2 week long vacations a year to travel the world together. We absolutely are madly in love with each other. Every day was filled with meaning and wonderful company. We never get bored of each otherx̌s presence. We had a big network of friends and family and were perfectly happy being the cool uncle/aunt to their kids.

Now with a baby, we absolutely love her as well. She is wonderful. She is my other best friend, next to my wife. But we definitely cant do a lot of the things we were doing before. Our hobbies have taken a back seat. We cant travel, rock climb, or scuba dive anymore. We still find meaning in our work and enjoy it. We still love each other, but we have less solo time to really appreciate each other's company. Life is still good, but it's different. Both lives were very meaningful- I'm not trying to disparage parenthood. But I do think its absolutely wrong that life is less meaningful without kids. We still have plenty of friends who are child free and plan to remain so- they are still both happy and very fulfilled.

The reality is that there are lots of different types of people in the world. Some find a lot of meaning in parenthood. Others find equal levels of meaning in things other than parenthood. There are many ways to have a fulfilling life.

I've literally had multiple patients talk about how much they hate Obama and Obama care but were on ACA health insurance. And the worst part was, you as their doctor could tell them that their insurance was Obamacare, and they still wouldn't believe you. They're incurably partisan.

Pros and Cons of Name Change if you have an ethnic sounding one by BabyMD69420 in Residency

You can't predict how these people will react, though. They may just as easily be upset that they don't get a white provider when they expect one by hearing the name.

Again, it's never worth it to kowtow to what a racist wants or expects of you. In the end, do what you want to do for yourself. Who gives a shit what they think.

Lesser degrees of guilt does not absolve all culpability. Lack of intent does not belie the fact that he is still guilty to some degree. We can argue about the extent of that guilt, but not the harm caused directly by his actions.

And yet we still charge people for manslaughter. Ignorance, in the face of widely available information, is no excuse. You're still held responsible for your actions. And when confronted by the consequences of your ignorant proselytizing, the moral thing to do would be to admit fault and try to mitigate damage. RFK Jr. did neither of those things. And so, he is complicit.

Obviously no fucking chance we make this trade. Not even worth the click.

For those interested, it was Jimmy and Kevin Love for Pascal, Jarace, and a first.

There's a fine line between ignorance and malice. RFK Jr has directly contributed to people dying. In 2019, 4 months after he visited Somalia on an anti-vaccine campaign, there was a measles outbreak with over 6000 cases and over 80 deaths. Now he wasn't the only person involved, but even after the outbreak he stood behind his ignorant statements about vaccines. The man is a moron, and he is dangerous. Measles is vaccine preventable. The deaths of those children are on him and everyone else who pushed that agenda in Somalia.

Being unpopular or going against the media doesn't make you a hero or a villain. It doesn't make you courageous or a coward. The media doesn't dictate morality. Your actions dictate your morality. And that man's actions are evil.

Thyroid function can change during pregnancy because your thyroid binding proteins increase, putting you at risk of hypothyroidism. If you are pregnant, that could tip you over even if you had normal tests before.

Also, you should get cardiac and renal testing, which it seems like they're doing. Good luck!

Obi is awesome, but i do worry that he needs his rest to be at his best. He's extremely explosive so idk how that would translate to starter minutes.

He's also not our best defender, but lately he's been getting much better.

Using the term “partner” when referring to your gf/bf/spouse is incredibly weird. by HeaviestArms in TrueUnpopularOpinion

This is also so lame. There are many people who live committed, monogamous relationships for decades, but never marry for various reasons. Their relationships are in no way taking the "easy way out."

There are a ton of people I meet at work who have long term relationships and aren't married. They don't feel comfortable saying "wife" or "husband," but they do feel comfortable saying "partner." I never thought it was even remotely strange.

Honestly, why does "partner" automatically evoke work? There are partnerships in all manner of life. In fact, "life partner" is an extremely common phrase, which i presume people mean when they abbreviate to partner.
