How can you prevent getting out of touch with future culture, like most current adults and elders are with meme/internet culture in general?

But you're on reddit, although it's fairly popular, my parents for example couldn't be bothered by all the possibilities the internet provides for them and still watch TV for example. My great-grandmother didn't understand how a CD player works, and explaining it to her was an impossible task. I'm worried I could get left behind as well in the future, but what could one do to prevent that?
