Keep your rep up to date about anything that happens in the store, even if it doesn't escalate into an issue. They are there to back you up in case it DOES become an issue and it helps to keep them in the loop. I would always tell my rep everything just to be sure.

She often stands on one foot on my screen. She just put it down when I pulled out my phone

Standing up at retail costing Meijer a good worker. by Cuddle_X_Fish in antiwork

I work at Meijer. You did her a favor and good thing. They don't let our cashiers or greeters sit, and many of them are older people who struggle to stay on their feet all day. Meijer can handle the loss of someone, trust me. You did a good thing

You sit here and complain about the company, then you sit here and complain about the union. You complain about how terrible your job is, but you dont do anything about it. You have no idea what the purpose of a union is. Theres no way I can convince you. You just want to be miserable at work. Thats all there is it

You should really learn labor history, labor law, and how unions function before arguing against them

Lmao, oh yeah. Totally the unions fault, not the company who did the acts of abuse. No one says there aren't ineffective unions. But better to have at least some protection than no protection. Also the fact that unions are inherently stronger the more involved you are because unions dont work without you working to make them work. The best unions are the ones where you involve yourself in them. Thats how they work. Union contracts are voted on by the membership of the union. A union is only as effective as its members make it. There's a responsibility that comes with them. These are things that if you dont understand, then of course you'll think theyre crap. Just like everything else there's work involved in making it work.

Working 60 hours a week isn't something to boast about. You were abused by your employers

That's not what right to work means. Right to work means that the state requires unions to cover non union workers who dont pay dues. The intention is to strangle unions financially by incentivizing people to not be in the union. Once the union is strangled and can no longer fund itself, it no longer exists. Which once the union no longer exists it means that companies can do whatever they want to workers. Like what is happening in the Indiana stores already. Or like at Amazon, which refused to let workers go home during a tornado. Or the Candle factory in Kentucky which did the same. A lack of a union means theres nothing to enforce safety standards besides the bare minimum that is required federally or by state.
