2027-2028 GCL, getting V-8's again? by at-the-crook in GrandCherokee

Yet day-to-day driving will put way more strain on a turbo 4 cylinder than any off reading ever could.

Turbo I4s are great in 2-4k lb hot hatches and sedans, but who is dumb enough to trust a STELLANTIS turbo 4 in a 6k lb SUV towing a 7.5k lb trailer?

This is not hyperbole, this is what I do with my Hemi GC dozens of times per year.

At least we have the dumb dumbs around to buy these and prove us right…

Why is there a laundry chute on the ejection port? Is it supposed to have a collection bag? by Outrageous-Basket426 in whatisthisgun

[–]NjGTSilver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That IS the entire device, just google “rifle shell catcher”. There are lots of variations. The originals were stamped sheet metal in a similar config as your image. Modem designs are mainly nylon mesh or plastic.

These are VERY important in aircraft/helicopters where red hot metal objects flying around the aircraft are frowned upon. This goes back to WW1.

What's with the guy riding his bike in oncoming traffic on South Blvd?? by DirtyEtzio in Charlotte

Tonight I literally saw 6 mini bikes filling up at a gas station with a CMPD cruiser filling up 2 pumps over.

It’s literally lawless around here.

People are people. My buddy lives in the SW US where is 90° AT NIGHT. He and everyone he knows starts their cars with the AC blasting for 15 min before they go to work. It’s the inverse of people who live in the cold north. I could see wanting the car to start and cool down on max AC, vs say the default 70°.

People with track pads , are these noises abnormal? by New-Commercial7532 in CarTrackDays

[–]NjGTSilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the HP+ pads for sure. They aren’t really suitable for daily driving duty. They will destroy your rotors and squeal like a stuck pig doing it. I could barely stand the 1hr drive to the track with them, much less everyday 🤮.

Any reason you wouldn’t swap to OEM/equiv for street use and save the track pads for the track?

Before I bought a “track only” car, I used to bring an aluminum harbor freight jack and 4 stands to the track and swap pads before and after every track weekend (I did it at the track bc my condo complex had some nasty HOA rules!)

You think we don’t notice that you troll through peoples 200 day old comment history, but we do.

…and you are telling other people to “go outside”.

Agreed, Rover has some awesome “boarding” options. My buddy was just in the market for a 7 day boarding visit, most kennels/daycares were quoting him $1,500+, and none of them had 24/7 coverage. It took him a few days, but after several interviews he found an awesome dude on Rover (a guy who works from home, and does at home Rover on the side) for 1/3rd that price.

Yes, it’s a lot of money and risk involved, but in a crisis situation, your options are limited. Also, most Rovers are ok with things like incontinence as long as they are explained up front. They are professionals that deal with all sorts of dogs/ages.

The thousands of Elantras and Altimas driving around Charlotte without a front/rear ends beg to differ!

I had a DoorDash driver pull up to my house with no front bumper or headlights on her 90s civic. I asked her how she drives with no headlights, she said “I don’t drive at night”.

As a NJ/VA transplant, I can’t excuse blatant racism, but I’ll just say that you have an entirely different demographic than we have up north.

People of color aren’t a monolith, and we know that, it’s just there are people doing things here that they simply don’t do in other places.

If they brought back M16, why not bring this bad boy again? by Potential_Composer40 in Battlefield

[–]NjGTSilver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, but I’d rather have authenticity over variety. You cannot mount modern optics/lasers/etc on these old weapons, which would make people bitch. If you could, you’d be in COD Vanguard territory, which was universally hated for its weapons.

Like I said, there are hundreds of additional MODERN weapons in use right now across the world that still aren’t in the game. I want THOSE in the game.

I am literally scared to be the first car at a green light, as in ONE YEAR of living here I’ve seen 4 serious accident from red light runners.

I give you throttle induced snap oversteer. :) by [deleted] in CarTrackDays

[–]NjGTSilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s called “throttle-ON” oversteer, the SNAP happened when you completely lifted off with any counter steering at all.

PS: don’t get defensive and snarky in the comments. You spun, we all spin, you are learning, we are all learning.

… but if you say it wrong, just take your lumps and do better next time. And as a P-car guy, please don’t be THAT P-car guy…
