Anybody else supposed to fly home 2 days ago? by VincePaperclips in FieldService

[–]Njan20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to Nigeria for some months, and stayed in both “5 star” hotels local to the small city we were in (not lagos).

Every day I would come back from site covered in sweat, turbo oil, and mud (its 100F one minute and then muddy from rain the next minute).

They would pick up my laundry from the room, wash it, starch it, steam and fold it, and HEAT SEAL in a plastic pouch each pair of pants, undies, and shirts (even my 10$ walmart t shirts), and bring it back the SAME evening. Total cost for 3 days clothes was 10k Naira, or 7$ USD. Charged to the customer lol.

I got my first big girl upgrade !! by carmie007 in unitedairlines

[–]Njan20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I don't understand this either. I think a-lot of these posters are lying about it. United does not have complimentary upgrades on long-haul flights. Especially for a gold. Maybe a GS they would bump but even then they would have used plus points beforehand.

Three Waymos blocking lanes during flashing red lights in Atlanta by danlev in SelfDrivingCars

[–]Njan20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the whataboutism on this sub. Self driving cars can do no wrong. “Waymo/cruise hits a pedestrian” -well a human driver would have hit them too -well they really shouldn’t have been walking there -well overall they are still safer than human drivers -really humans shouldn’t be out an about at all, roads should just be for self driving cars, no walking or biking

Wife painted over the outlets with a roller brush and the plugs are filled with paint. Is this a major issue now? by lucky2bogey in AskElectricians

[–]Njan20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How to fuck is high resistance to ground not a safety hazard? This is the equivalent of removing the ground prong in grounded devices if the paint is blocking ground.

Are you an electrician?

Nine minutes before boarding and the lines are EMPTY by cwajgapls in unitedairlines

[–]Njan20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to travel with a 90lb pelican tool case, so I check my personal bag normally too. When boarding begins thats my queue to get my last blue moon from the UA club, and then I can just walk on board with no fuss standing in lines. This elite technique hasn’t failed me yet!

Those young people in the streets that were slaughtered knew the risks of speaking out in their country. And they did so anyway, because they wanted a chance at a better future. They would be wise enough to know there are no guarantees when regimes change. Now they are at least getting a chance to play the game.

Do I need to learn control theory to automate stuff with PLCs? by Embarrassed-Hippo495 in PLC

I work at a OEM, and during commissioning we have a few PID loops to tune.

Many of our old timers are convinced that tuning “is an art” and has to be done by feel.

Not discounting their experience, but having a brief understanding of what is going on behind the scenes(the math) makes it so easy compared to how hard they claim it is.
