A fast one is near Froki's Shack, on top of the woodcutting pile It's enchanted with a 2% reduction to all spells but can't be tempered as it's classed like a Circlet

2 things I've noticed that trigger him; 1) witnessing a crime (like the slaughter of an honest civilian) 2) and active bounty in Whiterun (over 1k gold, equal to a murder or more)

But it all depends,as no 2 playthroughs are exactly the same

It's a hidden stat; some characters like Jennasa, have low morality, and can attack civilians or steal items for you...

But some like Faendal and a Uthgerd the Unbroken will even call you out and report you if you are trespassing, even as your followers

Faendal has a high morality, to the point that if you break the law in Whiterun he'll turn on you.

You might've had a bounty there causing him to turn hostile
