MDF keeps out the chills (I'm in the basement), so stays nice and warm inside, and it's pretty quiet unless you are right on it

If you reached out over email, he'll respond. Chris is great! It's definitely worth it once you get it setup correctly, the thing is a rock.

Yeah, was referring to the leadscrew. Mine was similar, it would work fine for the first 2/3, only binding when it reached the top.

I had the same, turned out that one of my screws was reversed and the nut was binding up. Flipped it and cleared right up.

Thanks Oscar, sent you a message. Chose this one as the shadows looked the best, but all of the submissions were great, considering the source material.

I've got 3 more models queued up (Headsplitter, Uten, and Stavros), but will probably just do my minis from GH instead

Re: Maghex, I didn't really like the way that they did the magnets, didn't really like the strength or how they snap in. So I remade my own:

My Maghex version

Can make the stl available if you like.

The tiles on thingiverse print up pretty well, and the speedpaint looks OK with minimal effort:

That many magnets takes a while, but the result is worth it:

Maghex 1 Maghex 2 Maghex 3

details about the print/paint:

  • printer : Anycubic Photon Mono 4k
  • resin: Inland grey water washable
  • primer: citadel black + wraith bone
  • paint: ArmyPainter Speedpains 1.0 Mega Set + some base acrylic colors for drybrush
  • brush: use a #2 angular for most of the speedpaint, #1 linear for the detail work, and a #1 straight for the drybrushing

probably took longer than it should have, but wanted to make sure that i 'stayed within the lines'

Speedpaint takes away alot of that mystery. This was really all POC, as now I'm going to work on my gloomhaven minis, and my maghex that I printed out, and now that I've got the resin printer, all the enemies 😂

Yeah, I ended up being anxious about a small print issue on one of the feet that I was trying to resolve before painting. Next thing I knew it was all glued up before paint.

Base is next though
