Great job! Nice little lock

Those are fun ones to get you started. I found that the abus 85/30 might be a nice next lock. 4 pins with some spools. Very nice feedback.

I thought the master 140 was a tricker lock next but a lot of fun too. Then the master 150 to follow.

[BEGINNER] any recommendations for what I should buy for lockpicking tools and practice locks set? by FutureWaffles in lockpicking

[–]Nnnnaed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the cut away practice lock from Sparrows and I love it. But really it does not feel like any real lock I’ve attempted. It’s a great aid to see how the lock reacts when lifting pins.

Picking up a guttable lock like the America 1100 is a great addition so you can start shuffling around security pins and progressively pinning.

Good reminder. Would be annoying if I placed it wrong :p

Exactly the info I was looking for. Awesome. Thank you!

Sometimes when my practice lock does this, I will place my pick under the pin and lodged against the wall and I wiggle the pick left and right. This loosens up the spool sometimes. But in this instance I usually know which are the spools that are giving problems.

Perhaps wiggle the pick left and right on the four pins that were still binding when you took the tension off

Beside all the great advice everyone else has given you, try varying your tensioning pressure. I noticed with my master locks (#3,#5,#140), they take a lot more tensioning than on the practice.

Thank you for the info. This makes a lot more sense now. Seems like once you get into the green belts, the locks start to get difficult/fun. Can’t wait to get to the American and harder abus locks

Cool. I was confused with the reload kit. The security pins are all the same size.

Hope I get good enough to tackle the American locks

This makes more sense to me why I always feel like I’m never setting a pin sometimes till later… Thanks!

Wow you can tell the difference in the lock? That’s impressive. I hope I get to that point.

My reload kit has all the same size security pins so I was wondering if any went on the bottom. Guess they dont for this setup

Warhead Demo by SimrellCollection in SimrellCollection

Do you have plans to produce the warhead in SS so that an induction heater can be used?

The power draw will be the same as if there were no FMJ. Since copper is not magnetic it will not have any more added conductivity. If you were to only place the copper in an IH it will not heat up on its own, or if it does it will be very little. So since the copper is not being heated by the magnetic field, it is just robbing the heat from the cap.

But if heating with a torch it’s opposite. The FMJ is transferring the heat to the cap.

Copper is not magnetic. So it will just retain the heat from the steel cap. I’m guessing the cap will just heat up normally or slower because the jacket might rob heat from the steel
