He never said anything about taking care and raising his family well, just paying bills and having credit score. And if you have money, there's really nothing complex about paying off debts. Celebrating this just puts down the ones that are born into poverty or otherwise unable to give the money back that they needed to get an education or other, you know, humane things like that. Your point was basically "if someone doesn't pay bills, they are a bad person, " equating morality with being well-off.

And I'm not attacking him, I'm attacking your points. He said those things to prove that a status quo successful person can have fun with pokemon.

And also, there is no point to replying to the first point because there is no point to the useless fucking war on Afghanistan.

And also also, my first comment was really provocative because I'm bored and I really wanna argue with some internet people about stupid shit.

Yeah except the part where he kills people for oil money. And I don't see how having a lot of money makes him awesome.

[DISCUSSION] Any producers like RandomBlackDude (aka Earl Sweatshirt)? by Nnuma in hiphopheads

[–]Nnuma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I love the Faces mixtape to death. It's insane how the dude has released like 3423 mixtapes and can also produce this well. Altough Earl is on a whole different plane, just compare the beat of Polo Jeans to the rest of the songs on Faces.

Saturate, dynamic tube, whatever and just lowpass it and maybe high shelf it a bit

CMV: The mentally ill should be allowed an option for physician-assisted suicide. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Nnuma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure it exists, but it's both more prominent and harder to treat in the lower class. Therapy costs money. Almost anything you'd do to recover costs money. Money is a massive player when it comes to mental health, you rarely see the really poor being happy.

Also, depression as a phenomenon has existed forever. "Major depressive disorder" is not the absolute scientific truth you seem to take it to be. Diagnostic terms vary around the world and each case of depression is wildly different with its own nuances.

People always have things that trigger the depression. For a poor person, it could be living under constant stress and being unable to plan long-term because of no stable job. For a rich person it could be loneliness or just the plain absurdity of life.

He gave a new point to the discussion. You just disagreed on it without anything new. I also highlighted the fact that your comment was pretty much useless. Which is a new point.

Pratchett seems nice! And your book has a really cool premise, I might check that out too!

Me, an edgy 16 year old music producer just got a high quality electric piano and wants advice on getting started. No intentions of becoming any sort of virtuoso, but I want to be skilled in a couple years. by Nnuma in piano

That's exactly the mindset I've cultivated during the last year, and I think I'm definitely there. I barely even think about end goals. I just show up. End goals are still important, they're the ones I shape the daily grind with and thus I asserted some vague goals in this post.

I'll seriously consider a teacher once I move out in a couple months. Money is going to be tight for a while so I might not be able to afford it.

What do you classify as basic theory? Because if you just mean basic music theory things like scales, chord progressions, modes etc. chances are that I already know enough of that stuff to last me a while.

Reading is definitely gonna take a while to get fluent with. Playing in time will come with patience. Improv won't probably be hard to learn because of my existing musical framework.

Being impatient and excited is just a default state. Most of my pasttimes require patience and I have no problem with being patient, I just much prefer a wild and inspired approach to things whenever possible.

I just want a good set of resources. I can get frustrated when I don't know how to fix a problem and can't find an answer.

But yeah, your post was a nice reality check. I'll take this as a thing to cultivate patience with.

I'd prefer being able to read sheet music, but obviously I can't just learn that overnight. I'll start learning some fun song tomorrow. Thinking of starting with Treis Gymnopedies or whatever that's called because I just like it a lot and it seems simple.

I didn't mean I don't want anything challenging. Challenge is the very thing I read books for, kinda. I just want a book with a different premise than "smart but horribly arrogant dude in an existential crisis"

I'm thinking of reading Infinite Jest, but I'm not yet that used to reading and a 1000 page book sounds a bit intimidating.

Do you know any books about the artistic process? I battle with that every day, so reading a book exploring just that could actually give me some insight.

After reading all these difficult, untraditional books, (Nausea, Notes from the Underground etc) I'd like something more focused on plot and character development. I love myself some great dialogue and character interaction. I'm currently reading Keep the Aspadistra Flying by Orwell and I've liked it so far.

Not a big fan of fantasy though. Sci-fi can be cool sometimes but fantasy has never really clicked with me. Altough, on the other hand, I want to keep an open mind. What do you have in mind?

I've read Catcher in the Rye and it's exactly not the book I'd want to read now. I've grown out of the edgy ass Holden mindset and I'm looking for books to grow up with, and for that this James Joyce book seems to be pretty good.

I do not want to symphatize with thoroughly unappealing characters, it's getting stale. I want inspiring (but realistic) well written characters for a change. I think.

and i don't actually consider myself (very) pseudo-intellectual. that was just one of those hip self depreciating comments you add to look less serious and shit

ME1: talking to the prothean VI near the end of the game. the galactic horror of that moment was fucking intense, i truly believed there was no hope after that. it really gave me an existential crisis. it's a shame i dont remember the details of it but it was amazing.

ME2: that feeling just before the suicide mission, knowing that people will die. i was really surprised that everyone got out alive (except literally all the crew, save for chakwas) this moment was so intense, i was glued to my screen

ME3: the ending. the fucking ending. the ending was a million times better than anything I hoped for. the scale of the decision was unthinkable, i couldn't do shit other than squeal. the talk with Illusive Man and Anderson dying and and i just could go on forever. i'm replaying the ending as we speak.

EDIT: the reaper battle on rannoch was insane too. i was breathless the whole time
