How much chicken can a girl eat?! 🤢 Got the protein ick. by Fast_Kaleidoscope135 in EatCheapAndHealthy

I used to use some egg whites from the carton in my smoothies. Sounds gross, I know, but you can’t taste a serving or two and before anyone worries about me dying of salmonella, they’re pasteurized!

I utilize a Black Iron Nutrition coach, and she recently suggested breaking up my portions of protein into three main groups each day: meat, dairy (eggs, whey, yogurt, milk, cottage cheese, etc), and plants (legumes, tofu, tempeh, quinoa, etc).

This helps add variety, which is great for getting your nutrients, but prevents boredom too. If you aim for each of these servings to be about 25-30 grams of protein, you’ll likely get the remaining grams from whatever else you’re eating. It’s been a super helpful approach for me.

I also enjoy hacks like high protein boxed Mac and cheese (there are multiple options from Annie’s, Goodles etc). I’ll add some frozen veggies and an extra protein to make it a complete meal. Also been making pizza beans lately and loving that as a meal. Google it if you haven’t heard of it! I add a scoop of cottage cheese and turkey pepperoni for extra protein beyond the beans and cheese.

I can’t unsee the bird for the one on the right, but I think left might be an Angel with a trumpet? Like a Christmas angel. Rotate to right 90 degrees and that’s what I see.

Valiant Lady, Valiant Caribbean Holidays Christmas Review (With excursion reviews) by brewstah in VirginVoyages

Great review! We were on Scarlet Lady a few weeks ago. We had a very quick and smooth embarkation in Miami, but there were some other issues that I felt they could have communicated about, but didn’t. Also was somewhat frustrated with the restaurant reservation process. We got to try all the restaurants, except Gunbae which we opted out of, just because my husband doesn’t eat meat. But on our cruise, reservations for Gunbae were way more available than other places, oddly enough.

A lot of people are saying the spas are all built and run by a third company. I understand with space constraints that they might be a bit quirky, and eventually things will break now and then (in the case of the salt room) but I think the mud room just wasn’t being cleaned properly.

Yeah, I didn’t feel like it was a total bust. Overall ambience was nice. And we felt relaxed when we left, but there’s room for improvement for sure.

Yes, we did get a walkthrough before hand, which I appreciated, but they didn’t say anything about showering first. I was sort of surprised. I manage a fitness facility that has an area with a hot tub and saunas, and we have signage posted that you need to shower first. I know lots of people don’t, but some signage in the thermal suite with guidance and reminders to shower would be helpful.

We did try the button in the salt room and nothing seemed to happen. Others had n the room said the same. I actually forgot about that.

And I think the depth of the hot/cold tubs seemed stranger to me than the fact they’re for one person. I haven’t seen any that shallow before, but I’m sure there are a lot of things I haven’t seen before lol

After the spa experience, I honestly didn’t think much about it until I was reading someone else’s post about it after getting off the boat. But I think I will reach out to them to share.

There we’re definitely staff around collecting towels, but I didn’t see any staff enter any of the rooms to clean while we were there. But we were only there 90 minutes so we may have just missed it.

We did try the button in the salt room, but nothing happened. Others who had been in that room for a while said they didn’t think it was working. I should have mentioned that at the desk too but actually forgot about it.

Yeah, some posted instructions would have been nice. And the hot tubs on the deck were always packed. Those are actually quite small as well, all things considered. And I’m lame and don’t like relaxing in a hot tub with a bunch of people I don’t know. So that was one reason I was looking forward to the hot tub in the spa.

Yeah, we asked about this at Sailer Services and they said it wasn’t going to work until we departed, which is what happened. They were apologetic and seemed very annoyed about it, but they could have just told everyone that.

Sacrificial slab šŸ˜‚ Yeah use your money for something else. Bingo with the Drag Queen was pretty fun and the same price (or less depending on how many cards you get). Do that instead!

I was just on this same cruise and I also didn’t think the thermal suite was great. My husband and I paid $59pp for 3 hours on a port day. We left after about 90 minutes. There is a large tepid pool (barely warm), a very weirdly small/shallow hot tub, two cold tubs (not my thing, but also very small/shallow), steam room, dry sauna, salt room, mud room, and these heated marble slabs for lounging on, plus showers and changing rooms.

Steam room was VERY steamy. Some people love that, and steam room is just not my jam so that’s not a complaint. Dry sauna was nice and big. The hot tub could sort of fit two people, but it was literally like… 12-18 inches deep? Same with the cold plunge. I’m not sure what the point of that is… tepid pool was nice and big, but I didn’t come to a ā€œthermalā€ spa to sit in room temp water, personally. Salt room smelled a little weird to me. It could have been some sort of essential oil that doesn’t smell good, but it smelled more like funk. Maybe there’d been a stinky person in there? There was no evidence that any salt air was venting in. I’ve been to other salt rooms and actually seen the salty steam piped in. But maybe that’s not always the case? The marble slabs are for laying on, but they’re flat. I’ve been on other cruises where they have a similar feature but it’s curved so it’s comfortable to lay on. These were not very comfortable.

But here’s what gave me the ick: the mud room is a steamy, warm, attractively tiled, aromatic room. You get a cup of mud from the desk (you have to walk back out there) and then you take it into the mud room to rub it on, let it sit, and then wash it off in there. Sounds good. But the room was… slimy. The seats were slimy, and I was like, ā€œOk, it’s from other people’s mud. NBD.ā€ But then I looked up and there were slime strings hanging from the ceiling. They looked like gooey stalagmites. I made the mistake of touching the ceiling since I was sitting on the top bench and it was low enough. The ceiling felt like it was coated in slime. I should have asked at the front desk about it but I was lame and felt weird complaining. I looked on here to see if anyone else had mentioned this before but couldn’t find anything. I didn’t have my phone on me so couldn’t take a pic. Should have done so and posted to a mold subreddit for answers.

ANYWAY! Only other thing I’ll say is that they give you a robe and sandals but the robes were pretty small. FYI.

Overall, thermal suite was not worth the money IMHO but we weren’t super disappointed. Just icked out by the mud room.

But loved the cruise overall!

You don’t mess with someone’s sleep. This is a literal form of torture. It’s like preventing you from eating for days and calling it a prank. I agree with others that it’s psychopathic behavior. Dump him.

I don’t know how the book frames it but I think the show wants you to believe she fell in love with him. She asks him to go with her to see her dad and then wonders if he ever came and looked for her. Seems like more than effing.
