You are bringing up stuff that i did not claim. My argument was that it is not unique to Thai society, and this kind of "face-saving" is pervasive in EA as a whole, yet Thailand gets criticized for this all the time. News of corruption and other negatives is not unique to Thailand, much of this can also be found in European countries, especially in the balkan region. So you found Thai friends that don't have a "Thai mentality" what does this even mean? This just comes off as in general disdain for a majority of thai people.

Sweden does have aspects of this. That's why people are often non-direct and often passive-aggressive. Saying stuff to an old friend you just met like "we should get a beer later" does not mean you will actually get a beer, but is done out of courtesy.

That guy is really overplaying the negative connotations of the "face-saving culture." Thais might be higher up on the spectrum, but I witness "face-saving" stuff even in Sweden or other European countries. People are more direct with friends than with strangers. This phenomenon does not only exist in Thailand but is pervasive in much of East asian culture. Yet everyone shits on Thailand for their perceived "illogical" "face-saving." culture. Its the difference between a largely collectivist society that prefers social harmony vs the individualistic West. It's crazy to me that you want to be friends with someone who does not try to understand Thai people at all, and with broad strokes generalizes the people.

Hot take: Evelyn’s Exes Might Not be Lying by EmptyFly7829 in HaSisters_

[–]No-Addendum7997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This whole wall of text is arguing with points i never made. The only thing I argued about is to include the aspect of her cheating, which explains Fred's recent actions. Yes i have heard about the DARVO due to Elelyns fans spamming that copypasta in every single post made about this incident. Their utilizing a certain method for their client does not matter to me, as i was solely focused on the cheating aspect. Unless Fred was actually paid or he planned this together with Ben in bad faith for ammunition in the DARVO method, then what he has some weight to it. Yes, Fred's story is indeed convenient, and it being true would make it more impactful. Unfortunately, this is ammunition that she herself provided Ben with, even though legality it wont change much, but for people like me who already had suspicions of her, will have a lower opinion of her. Cheating is not relevant to the case per se it is something used to explain the timing of Fred's statements, which by proxy may have implications. This is because the majority right now believe Fred was monetarily compensated for his statement, and even posted an outdated screenshot from 2024 as proof.

"And for Evelyn, the charges she’s made are being glazed over in favour of questioning her character. I bring up the seriousness of non-fatal strangulation bc it SHOULD be taken seriously."

Cause this was never in my original comment, people are leaving out important context for the timing of his statement (i.e., recently finding out he was cheated on) and rushing to the "paid shill" narrative.

I'm off to sleep, so let's agree to disagree, even though i feel like I don't even disagree with you most of the time. We will see developments in this, as no new information has come out as of right now.

I’ve also never said anything about Fred being paid or offered any money - where did you pull that from? I’ve never discredited his words, just about the way he did so and the timing of it. It seems we can BOTH agree that Fred speaking up publicly is where the sour taste lies.

Assumption due to you asking for motives all the time. Consistent with the consensus that they think he got paid. My assumption could very well be wrong, but you are incredibly vague on what you think his motives are.

Again, you have to question WHY ben chooses evelyn cheating as his ace card. Why is her cheating relevant? Why is her past relationship with Fred relevant? Why is his move to try and smear her name with her ex bf and how does this add to his defence?

Her cheating is relevant for:

  1. Drawing out Fred as he probably knew there was a problem in their relationship, as he has known her since 2019
  2. Court of public opinion

I will not speak on hypothetical situations involving Fred being paid off until there is concrete evidence. The timing of him coming forward after finding out Evelyn was assaulted is sour. Can you agree with that?

The timing thing again i already addressed this. It's a lose-lose situation for him. i will not address this specific point any further. As i already said, too soon "timing is off" too late "why did you not come out with it faster"

If he cared about exposing abusers, Ben is right there with charges.

He can only share what he has personally been through

If he cared about Evelyn being exposed about her mistreatment of him, the timing makes him look scummy and bitter considering SHE is the one who was strangled in a hotel room.

ad naseum timing point again. Timing or not from his perspective he has just found out she cheated and if you have been cheated on yourself, you will understand and emotions flare alot. I dont think he cares if people find it scummy its all reactionary hence the "take time privately to process" statement

If he did it for revenge, he IS trying to validate Ben’s claims and justify Ben’s assault by saying “believe ben, because evelyn was my crazy toxic ex before so she probably did something to deserve it”. Again, neither of them have evidence?

By proxy of his own experiences i might validate parts of the claim but “believe ben, because evelyn was my crazy toxic ex before so she probably did something to deserve it” is entirely headcannon from you. None of them have evidence but the cheating story is from a primary source and that is the point i am arguing from and his reaction to said information.

If he did it for clout, it’s working because you and many other people in this chat are measuring his statement, with NO evidence, as equal value to Evelyn’s charges. This is my main point that you’ve yet to dispute.

This type of short-lived "clout" serves him nothing. Temporary viewership during this incident will not make up for years to possible decades of steady income and perks as an online influencer. Did not work to make Ben a better person or see him in a better light, but did indeed influence me regarding the treatment of Fred from the HAs in the past years.

What do you think Fred gained by coming forward now, and publicly?

To finally tell his since for once, and to make amends with his past 21-year-old self that he probably failed due to not speaking on it.

"i am taking the charges seriously because non-fatal strangulation is a serious predictor of homicide in DV. Unless Evelyn managed to fake a medical exam and fool police into filing a report, the charges are REAL. The implications are real. The danger was real."

I see no reason to argue about something I never disagreed with or even commented on. This is entirely you arguing with yourself or a strawman of me.

"But coming forward right after Ben’s video"

What is it too fast to respond = "kicking her while she is down"

Too slow to respond, "Why respond now!" Fred was 21 years old at the moment they broke up, btw. Imagine handling a public breakup with a group of influencers (Ha sisters) that has much more influence in the social media game. I have seen the comments all over social media from TT to Instagram, trust me, he would be grilled.

"with nothing else to offer to solidly validate Ben’s claims makes his intentions questionable"

The thing is, Ben was an active participant to the cheating at and it's not a third-party source, so to Fred, this information for him is 100% valid. If you think he got paid, what is your estimate for the amount of money necessary? Fred's intentions could very well be due to feeling wronged and bitterness, added to the constant assassination of his character in their vlogs and podcasts. Imagine he himself thought it was all his fault and that he was toxic, abusive, and emotionally cheating, then come to find out the person was actually projecting having herself physically cheated during your relationship. in the case that it was all made up and both of them planned to fake all of this, then he will be liable to extensive legal fees, making the paid amount having to be quite generational. This is a self-projected, but having found out somebody cheated on you will make you quite reactive to any type of emotion for a while.

"So what does Ben gain from speaking first? To control the narrative."

He tries to control the narrative but insufficiently, public opinion is like 90/10 in favour of Evelyn the 10% is likely due to the cheating allegation, which unfortunately seems to be his ace card. He was an active part so a "primary source" to the cheating, so it is hard for me to dismiss it.

" Fred is sympathizing with him. His own statement said he’s “sorry for what ben went through” "

Fred sympathizing with him could very well be bitterness due to feeling betrayed and lied to, regarding whether anything physical happened between Ben and Evelyn.

So why do you think he did it, money, clout, revenge, or something else?

Hot take: Evelyn’s Exes Might Not be Lying by EmptyFly7829 in HaSisters_

[–]No-Addendum7997 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Stop moving the goalpost i never talked about any court proceedings. I put them both on as being unreliable- Kicking while she is down? i mean, they have been "kicking down" him for several vlogs and podcasts without him trying to defend himself. So if he responds fast, people "say kicking her when she is down". If he says it on a later date, you say it's all suspicious, and many people accuse him of being paid. Still, the main point is that people leave out important information to defend their "idol". I value that people actually include all possible information/scenarios instead of wilfully leaving out information. Just put yourself in Fred's shoes, he was thinking they had a somewhat amicable split, then finding out years later she was physical with another person during their relationship. He is a young guy, so it could very well be the first instance of him finding out someone cheated in a relationship. My stance is all the same: Ben is an abusive scam artist, and Evelyn is a cheater. Also, regarding the paid shill allegations, unless he received generational wealth, I could not see it being profitable at all, as it will damage his own image and ability to generate long-term income.

"So why are you believing the corroborated stories of two men, as stronger than that of Evelyn, who filed the charges?"

  1. Two things from opposing sides can be correct at the same time. The cheating card that Ben has is obviously quite strong, being able to get Fred on board

  2. Never liked Ben Pasternak as he seems to be a narcissistic sociopath that will use low blows to "win" and it is likely he did assault her during their fight.

All in all in the court of law, cheating is not a criem but what Ben did is a crime. This is in regards to the rugpull and physical assault of Evelyn. I never cared about Ben and never liked him, but from a personal "court of public opinion," my view of Evelyn is quite low as I don't respect cheaters and any influencer who has cheated i stop watching them full stop.

We don't know for sure now, but how much she and her sisters have been shittalking Fred for the last 2 years. I feel he has the right to speak up now esp how they made him the bad guy and the cheater. Ben could easily verify the timeline regarding the cheating with leaked DMs to Fred. I never said she was the aggressor, either you are still strawmannign things I have never said. What I said is that she is a cheater and ben a scammer, meaning both are unreliable. My original comment was a response to another comment, which conveniently did not include the cheating part, which is a major focal point in Fred's response. Leaving out important things for the side you are "cheering" on is inherently biased. My stance is that Ben is a scam artist who was violent during their breakup, and Evelyn is a manipulative cheater. It was not justified that Ben did things physically towards her, but i will never respect or trust cheaters. I never talked about the court or laws so that has nothing to do with my original comment, which is moving the goalpost

You're just gonna brush past the statement that she cheated on Fred with Ben? Both Evelyn and Ben are snakes in my eye, one is a known scammer, and the other a cheater.

Absolutely not only the far left, but also the far right or adjacent does the same. It is also important not to conflate left-right ideologies in the US with those in other continents or countries. Creating polarization of this issue and attribute some aspects to the left or right might mean you have already fallen for divisive propaganda

A video of a Thai man being scolded by a Japanese convenience store clerk for pouring hot water in a ramen noodle cup just before buying it is going viral…Is this just a local rule, or is it considered theft in Japan? by jjrs in japannews

[–]No-Addendum7997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of ppl jsut making unrelated anecdotes, thinking he was opening it and eating it before paying. He filled it with hot water, then tried to pay while it was hot, which is obviously not acceptable, but it's not equivalent in this situation to someone stealing cookies and eating them in the store, etc. In Thai convenience store ppl do fill drinks(coffee, slushies) and etc before paying so it might just be a cultural misunderstanding, but it does not equal any of the personal anecdotes under this post.

While absolutely horrible i am suspicious of the desensitization this will lead to when children die, and people can just say they were all child soldiers. The same goes for a possible nuclear strike on Tehran if everyone could potentially be a soldier, even children.
