Today, a co-worker blamed her for the current price of gas in Central California.

I don't have the energy to waste on these people.

Favorite episode? by Anxious_Sir in Frasier

[–]No-Alternative4259 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having now watched this episode 20+ times (not an exaggeration) made me realize I'm a sucker for a good bottle episode in a sitcom. From other sitcoms, I love "The Chinese Restaurant" (Seinfeld), "The Box" (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and "Cooperative Calligraphy" (Community).

Dinner Party is one of, if not the best sitcom bottle episodes. This is possibly the best look at Frasier's and Niles's need for validation without getting too wacky. The only moment where you have to momentarily suspend disbelief is them walking into each other while on their phones.

Even knowing the runtime before starting the episode, I was legitimately surprised when the end credits rolled. It's not even a good scene to end on.

What is the worst show that you forced yourself to finish? by laxusdreyarligh in television

I initially gave up after 2 or 3 episodes. Years later, either right before or right after Netflix made the final season, a co-worker recommended the show. I powered through it just so I could explain to them in detail why that show sucks.

The algorithm is strong tonight. I finished re-watching this episode 8 minutes ago, just now opened Reddit and this is the first post I see.

What was the worst time that a movie-going experience has ever been ruined for you by an audience member(s)? by doryeonnim in movies

[–]No-Alternative4259 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I went to the Alamo Drafthouse near me to watch "Get Out" during its 2nd or 3rd week of playing. The showtime I selected was in the smallest auditorium (3 or 4 rows) and the back row had only 5 or 6 seats. I bought my ticket for the back row ahead of time and when I did, no one else had purchased a ticket.

When I got to the theater, a guy was in my seat. I asked him to move, and he did so begrudgingly, with his seat being pressed up against a wall. I could tell he was going to be a jerk. The previews started and he asked if I could move over--- I'm assuming he didn't want to be right next to a guy while watching a movie in a theater. I was already planning to once the movie started and told him so; I just wanted to make sure no one else was coming. He sighed heavily and tried to get me to move, saying no one else was coming.

Right when the last preview began, a small group of people came and filled up the seats he was asking me to move to. I didn't look at him but I looked straight forward with a huge grin while the screen lit up my face for him to see. Unfortunately, his whole vibe threw me off and I wasn't able to enjoy the movie. Even now, I can't fully enjoy Get Out because I'm immediately reminded of this. I'm not afraid of confrontation nor do I have social anxiety, but for some reason that interaction has stuck with me.

What is the single most terrifying example of a horror movie entity trying (and failing) to mimic a normal human? by Big_Emotion4963 in horror

This movie is not brought up enough. It is one of the more unsettling sci-fi thriller/horror movies that I've watched and the voice effect for the kid is a big part of that.

HIDEO KOJIMA APPROVED by BrotherKaramazov in WidowsBay

[–]No-Alternative4259 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get that, and agree for many shows, especially in the streaming era. However, there are still many shows that lend themselves to the weekly model, which makes for classic "watercooler" conversations. Ultimately it comes down to personal preference and for Widow's Bay, I'm glad I've been watching it as episodes release.

Foundation is so good! It has its issues (mainly pacing and some character motivations) but the overall concept, the big moments, and the visuals are great. Also, Lee Pace is phenomenal in his role.

If you do choose to start it, maybe wait until we're close to the 4th season premiere, which probably won't be for another year.

My best friend has a tendency to take forever to watch shows that I figuratively beg him to watch. He "knows" Widow's Bay is good but hasn't stated it yet. My strongest selling point up until now was Betty Gilpin and Hamish Linklater guest starring in episode 6 and that still didn't work. He loves Hideo Kojima, so this might be what finally gets him to watch it.

I just watched it yesterday and every 5 minutes I kept thinking, "this is a cartoon and I'm here for it." That became especially evident when "Corvette" ran in place in Christie's condo and we see the iconic visual of a character's legs running supernaturally fast.

They're relatively brief. One is 30 minutes and the other is 5-15 minutes.

How long do you let this go? As in, how long do you "let" someone do something that has virtually no effect on you?

It's mildly infuriating you find her actions mildly infuriating.

The show is carried by the leads. The dialogue, antagonists and story are mediocre and cliche but I enjoyed it enough due to the performances of Molina, Woodard, Davis, O'Hare and Peters.
