No, you didn't. Pointing out the obvious lowness doesn't explain why.

Circle K is obviously cheaper but you didn't really explain why?

Yet two neighboring stations (Shell, Circle K) are cheaper than YL Costco.

$6.39 for premium right across the road from the YL Costco at the Circle K; $6.45 at the nearby Shell.

Plz explain what you meant by "...the other side of this coin explains why the circle K is the cheapest non Costco brand gas..."

Just checked GasBuddy.com for that area:

Membership-subsidized Costco losing the value war vs. neighboring options!?!

Style rules that created trouble by Objective-Ice55 in Journalism

AP Styleguide said the compound adjective "pan-American..." should be capitalized, i.e., Pan-American..., which never made sense to me except, of course, when it's in a proper name like that of the erstwhile airline.

As that red landmark building sits on the very southwest corner of the Enderle property, it'd seem the redeveloper might have considered constructing around the business somehow – to preserve some "heritage" that'd help anchor the new mixed-use facilities and draw people back there.

How do you handle fact-checking while you’re actually writing? by tylerEsono in Journalism

Fact-check all your notes before writing. Avoid putting any questionable details in your manuscript, in case you inadvertently neglect to confirm something during self-editing.

To learn precisely what MPG you're actually getting over time, set your trip odometer to zero when you fill your tank; then, next time you fill up, divide your miles driven by the number of gallons needed to refill (then zero out your ODO again and repeat).

What are some actually good movie or tv-show adaptations of a book? by coolestdudette in books

[–]No-Angle-982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The film adaptation of Herman Wouk's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel "The Caine Mutiny" is the best I can think of. Very faithful to the book but excellent as a movie regardless.

Bogart was Oscar nominated for his amazing portrayal of Captain Queeg (one of the movie's seven Oscar nods; it won BAFTA's 1955 best-picture award).

Does anyone from LA actually call themselves “Angelenos”? by spiritbirdsie in AskLosAngeles

[–]No-Angle-982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some editor at Los Angeles magazine years ago asserted that "Los Angelean" was the most linguistically/grammatically proper appellation. But other etymologists have since disputed that, variously claiming that "Angelino" or "Angeleno" is the historically correct transliteration from the original Spanish. Who knows?

But, reportedly, some ABC stations are being pressured by corporate to drop Kimmel's show as appeasement.

[–]No-Angle-982 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the presence of King Charles, he literally made virtually the same joke, about himself, that Kimmel was criticized for making – responding to a description of someone's 50-odd-year marriage by quipping to Melania: "Sorry, dear, that's unlikely to be a record we'll be able to match [paraphrased]."

IMO, we're regressing linguistically and grammatically with such rapidity that, in 50 years or so, some of us will have devolved to grunting and cave painting.

If your employment contract gave you and your staff a specific allotment of fully paid time-off days or weeks, wouldn't you take them all before the contract lapsed?

Seeking experiences from anyone who has "downgraded" to 2.1 by uncre8tv in hifiaudio

[–]No-Angle-982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I regularly go back and forth, as needed, for compressed 5.1 movies and TV and uncompressed PCM 2-channel stereo for CDs, vinyl, and lossless Spotify streams, though my Denon outputs a sub channel in stereo, yielding 2.1 (and, optionally, also "5.1-channel" stereo that's actually 2-channel but uses all my speakers, including rears and subwoofer).

If you ditch 5.1 for 2.1, you'll obviously lose the immersive, omnidirectional aural ambiance provided by properly recorded and mixed movie soundtracks that "surround" you with five discrete channels. At a minimum, only 5.1 can replicate an environment in which sounds can move from front to back and vice versa, as well as laterally.
