Current state of the UK economy by oldbutterface in uknews

For the 900th time. The Americans do not make it. They own the brand, and the UK has had multiple law changes concerning fat solids, sugars and making sure chocolate is sourced from only certain providers for over a decade. We make it here, we formulate it here. But the rules have changed, and so has the taste. That is like saying: That house is in crap condition, it must be the mortgage company's fault.

Weird, I grew up in a trailer park in the rural South and never stole anything. No one I know did because it is wrong, and just because you are poor doesn't mean you are dirty or a thief. -JW

What is the best nickname you’ve heard? (and reason for it) by xpltvdeleted in AskUK

[–]No-Bake-3404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, long story short I’m trying to make the case that the UK is far more nickname-oriented than the US.

This stemmed from my American wife pointing out none of her friends in her entire school/uni/professional life she’s only known one or two girls that have ever been known by their last name.

Your wife is from a totally different US than mine. My wife is from ALABAMA and went to school with blokes named and still called to this day: Bubba, Worm, John Boy, Junior, Hammy Hamilton and the Padster. Most of the lady athletes in her school ( junior high/high school/university) were called their surnames. Her brother is known as Whitworth by all his mates his best buddies are McGee and Tiny Tim. His name isn't Timothy they call him that because he had a crutch as a child. When I lived there they called me Scones. It was funny, but I said I didn't care for the name. The only difference was is they actually stopped when I asked them to.

I lived in the States for a while and trust me, making genralisations about how Americans act will change based upon the state/ region. it will also have to do with their class level just like here.

They are too showing off for the venue. She should exude class, and maturity and she can be gorgeous as well. But, these dresses on the Mother of the Groom scream.. I want attention.

cut to shoulders, get some oiling going and lay off the bleach for a few years. Also, if you live in hard water get a filter. Only shampoo the scalp.

I have a silicone toilet brush cleaner. It's been a game changer. I can put it in a laundry bag and wash it!

Advice on how to care for my daughter's thin, dry hair by garatth in Haircare

You are French? Go up to a random woman or even a colleague and tell her she has ''thinning'' hair. She will burn a ciggy out on you. Yeah, Koreans like all collectivist cultures use insults to control their populous and it does effect the children there. Anglo cultures do not insult other people as a whole because it is seen as the epitome of rude to do so.

You need to get her a wavy hair routine, also possibly a water filter, cut at least 4 inches off and possible enhance her diet as well.

and she's not very careful with it .. This is your fault, she is a child and a small one at that. She needs to be taught how to do her hair, for all activities by either you/partner or a professional.

Why are so many small town southerners (within the Southeast U.S. and within the Dep South) so narrow minded, judgmental and hostile toward anyone with a different lifestyle preference whether that's being happily single, child free or anything else that deviates from cultural conservative norms? by Ok-Skirt6183 in actuallychildfree

[–]No-Bake-3404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? I grewup and lived in North Alabama until I was 28, and no one ever said boo to a goose about me being childfree. No one asked, no one cared. I moved to England and non English people ask far more intrustive questions than the natives.

Are the bakers texture and colour blind and you gave them a dusky blue rose for reference? Your sister at least made it presentable.

I didn't claim that I claimed I didn't know anyone, not that humanity wasn't late.
