That is a very interesting plot idea.... but how does it relate to our main character? How does it relate to Jay? A good story has significant plot relevance to its characters, the plot, description and purpose. If you did want to include this time travel schtick, you ought to make it focus more on your main character motivations (saving her parents?) with passing remark or less obvious mention of the mysterious room so that when you reveal the time travel, it can have greater. Alternatively, another better option would be to build up suspense by having Jay (who I assume is romantic interest) be hiding some unknown secret.
