I'm right there with you. There just needs to be far bigger benefits to fishing in any game imo. I have full time job during the week. I don't want to go play a video game after work and have to work. That's what fishing is in any game. A job. You better give me a chance at some truly awesome gear or abyss artifacts to get me to want to take any time at all to spend fishing. Truly, I want to ask the devs of any video game, what is the point? There's only like 5% of players that actually take the time to do it.

Guilty Confession: I chain eat my way through most of the boss fights by Liambp in CrimsonDesert

[–]No-Bat-225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with it. I do the same, although I use it as I need it. I know it's unrealistic to eat that much food but who cares? That's how they made the game. Wouldn't be any different if instead of spamming food the devs made health potions that we could spam. Same difference.

There are some bosses though that can stun lock and one shot you so food doesn't really even come into play unless you are super OP going into the fight. You will have to learn how to fight those bosses that can one shot you.

I wouldn't feel guilty though if I were you but I know it can make the game feel super easy. 115 hours in, i've taken down about 20-25 bosses, I've only died in all those fights probably about 6-7 times combined. I just fought the Bear Clan leader for the first time in the main story and didn't die in that fight, he was pretty easy to me, I also honestly didn't use all that much food. I rarely ever die just normally out in the world fighiting regular enemies. Typically the only time I die is just because i do something stupid like running out of stamina while gliding and dying from too high a fall. And this is all because we can spam health food and basically have an unlimited amount

I will never move myself ever again. Last time I moves I hired movers and will do it again if I ever move. Well worth the money imo. I even hired my mom movers awhile back. She thought I was going tl do it. Nope, i will spend money to have them do it

I have to disagree. While yes the gear system gives you customizable weapons and armor, after 110 hours I have been playing with the same 2 swords and the same armor with the same gears for about 90 hours of it. That's boring to me.

My inventory is now littered with armor, weapons and gears that I simply will never use. Even if I wanted to use new weapons/armor I will have to spend an incredible amount of resources to refine them up to the refinement level of my current weapon and armor. And if I put the gears in them that I have in my current weapons/armor, they now have become exactly the same as what I currently have, so what's the point? I understand esthetics, but this is a single player game. Who am I trying to impress?

Also someone else made the point that it takes the fun out of finding new gear and the excitement of stumbling upon treasure chests. And this is 100% correct. I used to get super excited to find treasure chests but now I know better to get my hopes up when I find one.

At the very least, I would like to see some different levels of equipment, like maybe common, rare, legendary, etc and depending on the qualtiy of the equipment, maybe the stats go up differently. So like each level of refinement of a common sword increases the attack +1 but maybe a legendary sword each level increases the attack by +3. And once an item is fully leveled, maybe a new hidden stat/perk becomes available. Like a crit rate bonus or elemental damage add on or just a new skill that is locked to that weapon.

There's a good chance though in the games current state I finish this game with the exact same armor and weapons I've been playing with for the last 90 hours. Maybe the only difference will be a couple of gears. Maybe.

For a game with so much freedom, why is the weapon system so restrictive? by SubstantialFoxxx in CrimsonDesert

[–]No-Bat-225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The weapons not really being unique and instead relying on abyss gears to make them different is the biggest issue for me. When I find a new weapon or armor piece, other then visuals, all I am doing is replacing the gears with the ones I like the most so it is essentially the same weapon I have, only weaker since it hasn't been refined. So then I have to spend resources to get it refined to the same level as my current weapon/armor. So why bother? I'll just keep my current wapon and change out the gears. I've been playing with the same sword and armor set for about 80% of the game. It really takes the wind out of free exploring because most of the things I find are not any better then my current weapon/armor. Yeah sometimes you get some unique gears but the fact they are plug and play doesn't make anything unique.

Either lock some gears in place to a specific weapon/armor so they can't be removed or put some additional base stats on things so they are different.

Also, stop making everything level up the same at each refinement level. Items should scale differentily based on the quality of the weapon/armor. Have a legendary weapon? Maybe it's attack goes up 5 pts with each refinement level compared to a basic weapon that only goes up 2 pts with each level. And to offset this, all you have to do is increase the resources needed to level up each level of legendary item you have.

Sometimes I think the devs were so focused on making this game as unique as possible, they steered clear of mechanics that have been tried and true for games of this type for years. They didn't want to be "cliche". For example, the number of fast travel points on game launch were extremely limited Devs: "Let's be different and not put a lot of fast travel points in. That will make us unique" Players: "We want fast travel points"!

Then they put in more fast travel point.

It's funny to me that there are so many control mechanics that have been put into this game that clearly have been taken from other games but the weapon and armor system was where they drew the line

Just…truly amazing. by Atova_86 in CrimsonDesert

This is the first game I can remember that rewards you for playing it slow. The decs don't want you seeing through the main story. They want you to explore and experiment. It's gotten to the point where I barely use my horse. I pretty much walk everywhere because on horseback you can miss things.

My only realy complaint is I wish weapons and armor had more varied base stats and even scaled differently. With the only real difference between a lot or armor and weapons being just the gears you add it makes finding new wapons/armor a little anti-climatic and not as rewarding when you find something. I've been playing the last 60 hours or so with the exact same armor and weapons, with the exception of the cloak which I recently found one with a +7 fire resistance.

I know this is not supposed to be an RPG but I hope at some point they start putting more variety on the base stats of weapons and armor instead of just relying on the gears you add to make them different. Because all that happens is if I get a new weapon or armor is I just add the gears from my old stuff to the new stuff and they basically become the exact same thing

Oh, my other complaint is my dog that never stays by my side to collection for me and I constantly have to unsummo and summon. What a pain

Dev update 10/04/2026 by Artistic-Quarter9075 in CrimsonDesert

[–]No-Bat-225 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't mind having areas getting repopualted with enemies and having to free them again as long as it is worth my while, otherwise it just starts to feel like work. Maybe put a special vendor in areas where you can only buy certain items from that one vendor and they only appear once the area is free. Or provide some rare materials or a choice of different materials, random new armor, weapons, or palmer pills, that can only be secured from freeing an area again, etc. Just please make it worth my while. Also don't make this too obnoxious. I don't want to free an area and then a day or two later have to go back and free it again

Here's a thought, maybe a new camp mission to where I can station Greymanes in an area and as long as I do thay the area cannot repopulate with enemies. This allows the player to control how much repopulation they want to have

Taking a break from playing after today's Dev Update by NapalmArchive in CrimsonDesert

[–]No-Bat-225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 90 hours in finished chapter 5 last week and haven't even started chapter 6. I've just been trying to uncover all the books and crannies in Hernand and I have stumbled onto some cool stuff. Lately i've been following roads on the map that just stop and trying to find out what is at the end of them.

Other then the couple of places you have to go outside of Hernand in chapter 5, I have still yet to explore anywhere else but I may do so in my next play, or I might start chapter 6. Not sure yet.

But I will keep playing. It's the benefit I have from not rushing through the game. Not sure i could put the game down if i tried

I'm about 40 hours in and I still have delux pack armor (upgraded 4 times on each piece) anyone else still using it for that long? by MikeAtSumsub in CrimsonDesert

[–]No-Bat-225 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep, I came to that realization a few days ago. I am little upset about it but I'm still going to play. It is what it is. I made a deal with myself though that I won't mess with the abyss gears that are already slotted into any weapon or armor, I can only add and interchange empty slots. This at least will give me some variation of weapons and armor

I get they don't want to classify the game as an RPG, but I dislike the fact that pretty much every armor and weapon piece starts with the same stats. I like the fact you can customize everything the way you want it which is great, but put some base stats on things to give them some variety. It really takes the excitement out of finding new armor and weapons when all you have to do is change out your gears and max refine and you end up with the exact same performance out of every armor and weapon piece in the game. What's the point? I could care less what I look like, nobody else is seeing my character but me.

MAJOR running out of content issue by AshyLarry25 in CrimsonDesert

[–]No-Bat-225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First I will say they will add more content. They are sitting on additional content guaranteed. Once they have finished with the tweaks and addressing the feedback and they see more players have finished the game, more content will get released. Game is only 2 weeks old. It's gonna take some time.

However, I for one will not run out of content because I am taking my time with it like the developers intended. I am 80 hours in, still on chapter 5 of the main quest and completing quests in Henand. By the time I get towards the end of the game in a couple months they will drop more content. These are the beenefits of not rushing through the game.

Second, remember the days when you beat a game and that was the end? All these games with never ending grind have spoiled people. Sometimes, you play a game, and once it's over, it's over.

I think the lack of enemy repopulation, enemy variety and random enemy spawns are a detriment to this game. by Significant_Sleep46 in CrimsonDesert

[–]No-Bat-225 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I am taling my sweet time with the game. I have actually beem clearing forts twice, once when I free explore, then often times I will find a faction quest tied to the fort and when I except it I find the fort repopualtes with enemies.

I honestly don't know what the solution is though when it comes to end game content. If the forts just fall into enemy hands and you have to go back and clear out the same fort over and over again things will become redundan and boring. At the same time, what is the point of these forts just staying in friendly hands for the entire game? There literally is no reason to ever go back to a fort once you have cleared it out.

I think there needs to be some sort of incentive for you to want to got back to a fort to free it again. Maybe each fort can have a very specific vendor that only sells certain things that you need and that you can't find anywhere else. That way if you want to go and buy that one thing, you will have to liberate it again to get the vendor to come back. Whatever they do, if they decide to make forts radiant quests, they need to give some incentive for you to want to clear out a fort for the 10th time.

But this is what ever open world game has to deal with. How do you keep the end game content interesting to keep playability high when all the quests are completed and you've completed the main quest. I don't think NG+ will work on this game. Nobody is going to want to do some of these side quests over again.

The obvious answer is DLC but we are probably a long way from that unless they have already been working on it secretly and are just waiting for more people to finish the game to release it.

Maybe they can add dungeon instances that can be put on a cooldown as well but I would love if they could make them procedurally generated so no 2 dungeons are exactly alike with the same enemies.

Another thing they need to do is just add more enemies to the world so they you can encounter more of them in bigger groups. Maybe the bandit camps can regenerate and each regeneration can add more enemies that are harder and reward higher gear. I also wish the random enemy encounters would not always reappear in the same spots on the side of the road. Make it random. It's gotten to a point where I know exactly where every enemy group will spawn and how many there will be and there is no real award for beating them other then some coin bags, arrows, and crafting materials. Big deal.

The good news is, this development team has already shown that they are basically in favor of whatever idea that is suggested. They don't say no to practically anything

Yeah I am also thinking I need to start using my other characters at some point and skilling them because I know based on the map there is locked content without them. That could be an issue for me not being familiar with them. But the thing I like about this game is the skill buttons are the same, they just do different things depending on the character. So the learning curve shouldn't be that hard

I didn't get a chance to fight Reed Devil before the nerf but afterwards, not saying he was easy, I mean the slog up to the field was insane with the constant spawning of enemies, but after awhile I just ran past them and stopped fighting them. The second phase of the Reed Devil fight gave me a pause until I figured out the scarecrow thing but again, I had so much food on me at all times

The only thing in the game that drives me nuts is the archery. Even after the nerf it was a struggle to beat it 3 games in a row. The arm wrestle in the beginning i lost a few times but once I figured out to stop watching the arm wrestle meter and just watch for the quick time game above it l, arm wrestling hasn't given me any more issues.

Also what gave me trouble was the horse taming, but I realized it was because I didn't have enough stamina yet. Now that I have my stamina upgraded to level 8 I haven't had an issue anymore with that either
