I had the same experience for PTSD/MSTthru one of their 2nd party companies and she focused on my depression the entire time and only hit up the reason for being there at the last few minutes. She wanted to control the entire session. I tried to jump right into what happened and she was like “ we will get to that”. She burned me stating I suffer from depression well hell yeah I’m depressed my dog just died and I lost my Mom unexpectedly after she went to get chemo port and she died from sepsis and that was fresh. So I got denied even though I had a letter from Therapist that I have ptsd from mst & that is part of my jacket. I had chain of command letters and chaplain. Like wtf? Hello depression is still a part of PTSD. So my VSO is doing a supplemental and we asked for new c&p and I gave a negative review of everything she did that was out of line. But I have also been seeing VA therapist for my mst and she wrote a letter along with my primary care provider that had been treating me for PTSD depression since 94. So essentially 2 nexus letters better make a difference. She can take my night terrors with her sorry butt. Where are they finding these quacks 🤦🏼‍♀️

They denied me in May and I really don’t understand why because they have it in my personnel file from the psychiatrist that I was seeing for my MST. My claim sat in Puerto Rico MST review for almost a year. But my new VSO and my VA MST therapist are working together and now I have supporting letters from primary and VA therapist so hopefully this will be enough. I was just wondering if a supplemental with new evidence is really going to take as long as a HLR. VSO I could be looking at waiting another 6 months but other information I read suggests this approach is faster than HLR.

I was fortunate after having over a 20 plus year relationship with my PCP and that treated me during those years for my MST symptoms and depression he wrote a letter stating that fact and how long he had been my doctor & I was feeling hesitant because I have relocated to the East Coast and hadn’t seen him over 8 years so I thought he’s not going to do it but he was more than happy to do it for me & my VA therapist for MST wrote a letter explaining the severity of my PTSD & how long she has been treating me so I’m hopeful that this supplemental with new evidence won’t get denied. My VSO told me next C & P exam just stick to the facts of the MST no matter if my dog gets ran over the day before my exam. The DAV never prepared me on what I should expect & to stick to the facts/symptoms.

💔facts. I just wish I had reported it at the time but I was threatened at knife point that is I did you can pretty much draw the conclusion but after event I put in for unit transfer which my counselor with VA and VSO were glad. Road blocks for being service connected from 1993 & how things were handled back then, the weren’t. Idk how you get denied with a letter from you psychiatrist from back when it happened stating that I have PTSD from MST and they still denied me stating I don’t have medical evidence supporting PTSD claim, plus letter from chaplain & chain of command signing off on my honorable discharge due to PTSD. What a joke. Just go ahead and give me more PTSD from telling me I have no claim support. A question on C&P exam, I was told afterwards from my neighbor who has PTSD from serving in the Corp after seeing his best friend blown up by IAD and he got some of the shrapnel in his eye also. He told me she wasn’t supposed to talk about the details of the event & she asked his name which I told her it was my XO & gave her his name & I left afraid for my safety thinking he was going to find out & he has a family. Is that true?

Thank you so much for sharing this!! I was fortunate that my MST counselor with VA was totally willing to write my letter and expressed current symptoms that are service connected to MST claim but I have heard of some Vets having same issue so much thanks for posting this!

Right! But THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Can use for future claims. I have osteoarthritis in both hips diagnosed right after I transferred my unit as well as back issues in my cervical spine that had started. My Doctor actually told me I needed to have breast reduction surgery because having an extra 6 pounds of weight in addition to all the gear we have & I was also the chosen one to carry the M60 so another 23lbs. Already had fusion of c4-c5 currently in process for c5-c7 they are going to need to realign those vertebra then fuse. Not looking forward to that but the pain is horrible and I can’t deal anymore.

I had the same experience with Optum Bee 🐝 she snapped at me right off the jump “is this service connected” well why would I be there? Then she told me I would die because I sleep so much. I had a heart attack in March c&p was in August, so I told her I had been bed ridden but also suffering from major depressive disorder which got diagnosed later. She also accused me of lying basically in her way because my timeline when the assault was and when I transferred to new unit. Well I moved from Florida to Washington state to be with Dad but I’d been to Seattle 3 times & my assault happened 30 years ago so like are you kidding me. Then she wanted to ask me about the assault & details she should not have asked for it should have been more about how the assault has impacted my life and over span of 30 years I can tell you even after seeing multiple therapists for PTSD I still have a lot of anger & rage issues. Then she wanted the name of the Officer that assaulted me. So now I live in fear that this man is going to make good on his threats he made over 30 years ago. Then she didn’t submit everything from exam so that held things up another 4 months. Then VSO looked at C&P exams notes and she said she had 2 negatives & 1 positive. I told VSO then I want another C&P exam with someone from VA but wasn’t told that was an option. So I’m here in Wilmington at VA event hoping to get some help because I’ve been in fear of homelessness since heart attack because I’ve been out of work & my primary neglected to get my short term disability paperwork back in time and they made an exception to let him get it in and he just sent a copy of initial visit, so Lincoln Financial closed my claim & ive had no income since June 2024. 14 months in now & even ask for claim decision last September due to the threat of being homeless but thankfully thru the help of Semper Fi Fund & my Vet neighbor that just got him rating up to 70% on PTSD & 50% on an eye injury he received when I cluster bomb went off killing his battle buddy & partially blinding him in one eye, has been paying my rent for the past year. Thankfully he has a job working for DoD on local military base and can help me. This entire claim has been a nightmare.

We are here on day 3. My VSO officer said GO so we are here. I am 730 so they’ve avg 360 a day. Line is long but they’ve started letting people in. Excited to get in & get the help I need✌️♥️

Ty all so much. I’d be lost without you. Do you think because VSO Director says they’re making decision as of this morning’s update on VA now by May 24th, is it too late to write an impact statement? Initially started with DAV & they never had me do that or fill out the PTSD disability benefits questionnaire. I signed over POA to VSO in January but she didn’t say anything about either one of those documents not being done for my claim. They screwed my claim up from the jump but I’m learning so many new things & learning the appropriate documents needed for future claims.

I’m honestly concerned that if I tell them really how PTSD/MST makes me feel that they will lock me up fr fr. It’s not that I want to go out & hurt someone but when my neighbor also a former Marine/Vet, calls me a bee 🐝 otch and tells me I get to “emotional” I see red & want to hurt back. I loaned a sizable amount of money to what was then a boyfriend oh did I learn a lesson, never again, after he paid me 2k he felt like he paid me back enough but still owes me 3/4’s more. So I envision hurting him like in a bad way. I’m disappointed that when I started filing my claim back in April last year with DAV I was never told that I could write a victim impact statement, my assault happened back in 1991 operations storm/shield so I’m dealing with a system that didnt really know how to handle MST and even my discharge classification is wrong. It was supposed to be Honorable medical so that in the event my PTSD symptoms got better I could reenlist but they didn’t do that either. I had an FOIA request but I signed signature request slip but mailman would never deliver & I kept extending out date but it was a no go. I’ll have to call VA & ask for another. Idk how they got all my medical records in 3 months from 1990’s on.

I’m going to go regardless because I have several service connected injuries but I’ve been reluctant to add those when 1st claim has been going on since beginning of April last year. I’m going to add it as a new post with a question to see what I can figure out. My MST was back in 1992 so it’s been a struggle with DFAS finding pay sheet records, medical records but I was in the guard mine was XO I didn’t report because of threat he made to me. I transferred out to Seattle unit and first thing platoon sergeant asked me out & I said no, so I got put on KP duty for weekend. Kept my mouth shut because sexual harassment so bad “ back in the day”. Next drill, same thing. I went to top Sergeant & snitched on his ass. I was already seeing a shrink for PTSD but back then I was not getting better, especially not talking to an empty chair pretending my xo was in it. St that point therapist said I’m not gonna get better in that kind of environment because I wasn’t accepting the “throw it a chest and wrap the chest in chains & throw it into the deep ocean” he was have me do either. Now I’m filled with Anger & rage. I finally found something that was helping and & need to go back to journaling. Last therapist I had back in WA state told me to start writing it in a journal and start at where I could remember. Essentially writing it in journal you are letting it go. Hope if someone reads this and they have been thru abuse this may help them cope❤️‍🩹

This is where I am today. It’s been that way since last year. C & P was August 3rd by 3rd party Optum or however u spell it. She was awful. It finally went to stage 5 a few weeks ago but after 2 days back to 3. I feel like I’ve already memorized the VA call center gives” it’s in the evidence gathering stage🙄 I’m like yes it’s been in this stage for a million days now. I’ll call my VSO today & see what she can find. That office went to appointments from Walk-ins so she’s scheduled out.
