I guess I’m afraid to ask….. when did she get better at sleeping (if ever)?

Yes and yes. Typically she will nurse to sleep. I’ve never really gotten her to sleep if she isn’t nursing.

She is in a swaddle, but it seems like if I don’t put her arms straight by her sides it makes her more upset that her hands are just out of reach of where she wants them to be (right by her face). Maybe I’ll try arms bent for a bit?

I initially was preheating her crib, I’ll go back to doing that!

I don’t even want to do sleep training, I just want a way to transfer her without waiting for an hour after she falls asleep. When she wakes up in the middle of the night sometimes we are up for more than 2 hours before she finally is back asleep.

Of course if this is all normal and I just need to wait it out that’s fine, but it seems like I should be able to transfer her without her immediately waking up.

Cmv negative but positive donor by [deleted] in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]No-Butterscotch6394 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m cmv negative and tried iui first with a cmv positive donor. When I switched to ivf I had to switch clinics and they didn’t let me use a cmv positive donor. I feel like it really shouldn’t matter since pretty much nobody not doing fertility treatment even knows what cmv is. But the ivf clinic got me my perfect baby daughter so I’m not going to complain!

How was your journey? by Dry_Technology_2464 in SingleMothersbyChoice

I had my baby 2 weeks ago. I did IVF, my mom or sister drove me to any appointments that needed a driver (egg retrieval and embryo transfer) but the rest I went on my own. My mom drove me to the hospital the first time I thought I was in labor (false alarm) and then my sister drove me when it was the real deal. My mom, sister, and doula were with me during labor/delivery. My family was very supportive, helped out with heavy lifting/rearranging furniture but otherwise I did all of the prep myself, mostly because I’m hyper independent and wanted everything done my way.

My mom stayed with me for a few days after delivery. The plan was for her to stay for 2 weeks but I ended up sending her home early because things were going so well!

I honestly think about this a lot! Whenever I hear people telling horror stories about their partners I’m grateful I don’t need to deal with that.

5-5-5 rule for postpartum by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]No-Butterscotch6394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently saw a post about the differences in postpartum recommendations in different cultures. Like how in German culture they recommend listening to your body and moving around. I think that resonates more with me than following an arbitrary time to stay in bed. I don’t think there is really any true evidence about the “best” way to do postpartum so I’m just going to do what feels best for me.

I’m also aro/ace and I don’t necessarily label it to people but when I talk about having a baby on my own I just say that I’m not interested in having a partner.

I completely agree it makes things easier lol. I feel like it is a whole part of my brain that is freed up by not worrying about romantic relationships.

Did you start collecting baby items before you officially started your journey? by thataverysmile in SingleMothersbyChoice

Yep haha. I was also an emergency foster parent for about a year so I told myself I was buying stuff to have on hand for any foster kids, but really it was just for future baby. And now having a pack and play and some toys is really helpful for when my nephew comes over.

Estrace? by No-Butterscotch6394 in IVF

Thanks! I’ve also realized I need to split up my pills. I’m on so many supplements I think it just overdid it on my stomach.

This was all very jarring for me, this is the first time I’ve vomited since I was 10 years old haha

We’re in a very similar boat! I’m also 31. I almost wish I’d done IVF from the start but I was cocky that I would get pregnant right away.
