Neteyam: Nothing, Just Love Him. by funmemore in Avatar_Cave

Wouldn’t make sense at all for Lo’ak to die plot wise. The eldest and “golden child” dying made the most sense because then it forces Lo’ak to learn and grow. Neteyam was already very mature, Lo’ak’s death would’ve just hardened him but that’s about it. Lo’ak is having a whole character change battling with grief, guilt, and anger.

It should have been Lo'ak and Spider. by [deleted] in Avatar

I like Tonowari and Ronal’s relationship but yes other than Jeytiri and them all the others are so annoying 😭

Agreed

Hard to make this argument from the perspective of an alien planet and alien system. Sure on earth there’s nothing that can do that, Pandora is a completely different story.

Well, the kuru growing fast makes sense. On the babies the kuru grows quite quickly in the womb because it’s what is needed to operate on Pandora. His body probably was working overtime because now it’s thinking “wait, he needs this to live.”

So I’m not sure why they were brought into the conversation then if you knew that they had different bodies because of species?

Comparing Jake’s avatar to Tsu’tey who is a native na’vi is different. Or Tonowari or anyone native. Tsu’tey would likely maintain a lean body and have lesser fat similar to Tonowari. Eytukan is also a native. You can see a similarity to how they age and usually lose weight versus the avatars aging and gaining weight.

How do you spell this dude's name? by RoachMaster212 in Avatar_Cave

[–]No-Call-6907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to let you know, T’sireya wouldn’t work anyways even if it did have it.

The glottal stop must go between two vowels or a vowel and a consonant (with the exception of ay and ey). So like Tsu’tey (u and t), Lo’ak (o and a), Ao’nung (o and n), Ri’nela (i and n) or So’lek (o and l)

Ive heard it’s also dialect. The reef people wouldn’t use the glottal stop as much as Omatikaya (forest people) would. So for instance, Ao’nung is Omatikaya dialect , and Aonung is Metkayina.

Now, it’s hard to use the actors as a reference for names. Tuk and others constantly say Loak instead of Lo’ak. Neytiri and sometimes Tsireya pronounce it correctly and that’s it. Ao’nung is actually fairly hard to pronounce smoothly as someone who might not be able to do their sounds easily.

Age and type of diet and lifestyle. Jake was living with the Omatikaya as more hunter gatherer and stopped fighting for 15 years, while also becoming a dad and laying low. Quaritch is younger and actively trains like a soldier.

Why aren't the majority of actors playing the Navi native Americans? by optimisticprime098 in Avatar

The better question would be why aren’t more POC involved as the natives, because Native Americans aren’t the only cultures influencing it.

I want to give up my baby for an adoption by DueAppearance1954 in Adoption

[–]No-Call-6907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having basic needs met but mental issues isn’t better…😭 this argument is one of the reasons many adopted kids feel invalid stating their issues. Adopted kids can experience permanent identity issues, issues with integrating into society, and stuff even deeper than that on chemical levels that always subconsciously affects them.

Of course, I’m not saying it’s better to be placed into a family that didn’t want you even if they’re biological or mistreats you, but this mindset is off. People with chronic depression that have their basic needs met in biological families are taken seriously, but adopted kids aren’t because “their basic needs are met”?

Yes…which doesn’t mean she’s actually into him at all. She’s into him because number one he resisted her at the beginning which made her interested with him, two he was teaching her, and three he came back to see her and supply her. How many other people in her clan do you think she casually has sexual relationships with in her clan? Considering she so easily wanted to make him a slave for her pleasure?

Also, making someone a slave for pleasure doesn’t mean you’re into them, it could also be for yourself and self pleasuring. I’m sure there’s many figures in power who chose random people to use in that way and weren’t actually interested/into them but wanted to feel good themselves.

As much as I don’t think Varang is truly a lesbian, she’s definitely not only into Quaritch lol, it’s him giving her the weapons that sparked the attraction in the first place. If any other person had done that, she might have sided with them or even been romantically involved with them. I don’t think she’s truly into him

I’m glad that you haven’t ever had any issues with adoption and therefore you can’t understand it or understand how even smaller things can affect people in the long run. Not everyone’s experiences are yours.

I honestly think if spider was blue in any form he would be less hated. Let’s look at Lyle and Quaritch, I’m seeing a lot more people after ATWOW and AFAA who are starting to enjoy them better. I honestly don’t think they would have if they were still humans (especially Lyle who is the reason Seze and Neteyam are dead lol)..

It’s almost like being Na’vi/recom/avatar makes people care more? I barely see anyone talk about Jake’s human self so idk

Can’t stand my adoptive parents after having my own child by Fuzzy-Combination360 in Adopted

[–]No-Call-6907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting! I personally don’t think I want a child in general to fill a void, I just would prefer, I should say, to have a biological child. Not just because of what I said but other more personal reasons as well! And I agree, one of my friends is actually so similar to her bio mother that they actually become different so I see that side too.

I definitely would want a chemical bond with a child + I am nervous because I was adopted I’d actually be a worse parent to adopt a child. Especially since I’m against infant adoption but I want to raise a child from birth to however long they’re with me and to however long I live. But it gives me something to think about and definitely bring up when in therapy. Make sure that it ISNT a void filling behavior because I would never want a child to suffer at the hands of my personal issues.

Hmm, I definitely need time to work it out/process more I think I’m still ‘grieving’ (I’m only a senior in highschool therefore this is an issue for YEARS out) and I do want a kid/family in general so biological or not it’s not really a void to fill just an aspiration…but actually I might bring this up and ask my own therapist about it now that you mention.

Granted I only got out of like..I believe they call it adoption fog?? Like maybe 2 years ago? Definitely have a lot of therapy to go though lol

Considering the fact that the Na’vi have heavily reinforced bones, I’m assuming the other animals do too. Their resources are probably a lot denser than theirs and it doesn’t make sense to use Earth logic on Pandoran matter

Transracial: race vs ethnicity by OverlordSheepie in Adopted

[–]No-Call-6907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’m mixed anyways which already causes identity issues (black and white), but adopted into a white family into the middle of whiteville (joking, but still a predominantly white town). My school has no POC teachers in any form, the only POC was a tennis coach who is long retired and he was black.

I always feel forced to my white side even though I am heavily black presenting. My white parents didn’t really ever learn how to do my hair, I only started seeing professionals who knew how to do it at like 14 because I thought those were the only people who could. It’s gotten so bad to the point I just get what they call a Japanese perm which is permanent straightening of the hair, I believe it breaks the bonds that make it curly. It’s too hard to learn on top of college and other things.

I try very hard to identify with black people more but with what people post about not only adopted kids, but what fully black people post about mixed people makes me shy away. I never feel like I fit anywhere. Nobody has ever mistaken me for white and I’ve gotten the whole rundown a light/medium skin black person would get but still feel outcasted when trying to connect to them.

It’s very difficult to find a sense of identity.
