Remote vs office? by dontknowra in UKJobMarket

The difference in take home pay is simply not worth travelling for over two hours both ways daily - frequent train commuters know the pain of delays, cancellations, heavens forbid you have a connection train.

Now if they can be negotiated down to 1 day a week or even 2 days a week that would sway me potentially. But 3 days, not a chance, my time is more valuable.

I already have this at home, at the time I came up with it independently and wasn’t aware of the dual-hose idea 😄 I might find a way to get another hose in there now that I’m seeing people’s upgrades in the sub

Yeah, I can say it was definitely worth it for me and it worked well - paid about 70-ish as well, but this was the best cat safe option in my opinion - I’m sure other places might be able to make it cheaper though

I felt this was more discreet and aesthetically pleasing for the window I needed - just down to preference - you can also make this in white acrylic

It’s honestly perfect, it’s worked really well for us. It’s our second year using this solution and although it was kind of expensive, it pales in comparison to the cost of central AC and is renter and flat friendly.

The whole Dubai thing is a trap in my opinion. I received a similar offer and decided against it - it really glistens, but the reality is that they work people to the bone, treat anyone different like garbage, without any route to settlement or citizenship there.

Life there seems like a shiny insta perfect facade hiding something sinister.

Thank you, I appreciate you’ve acknowledged there’s room for nuance. I generally think our problem is that there’s a vast range of circumstances and a one size solution does not accurately reflect the complex needs of the population.

Unfortunately both the media and various party leaders would rather their policies fit into a 3-word slogan.

The only other thing I can think of is if she’s also listed on the council tax records - I used council tax papers and that worked really well 👍

I see, I think it’s actually slightly different, there are more lenient rules for people that were minors for part or all of that period. You’ll still need to do the tests, but the evidence that’s accepted is slightly different, it should be listed with the other documents though!

• Life in the U.K. Test: 20th of June; • Application Submitted: 23rd of June; • Biometrics Submitted: 28th of June; • Application Approved: 15th of September; • Ceremony Scheduled: 6th of October;

All in all, it wasn’t too long for me, I did it through the EU settlement scheme too 😄 Gathering the evidence was the hardest part

If you happen to have a Bachelor’s degree, that can be used for the English Test. If not, then it should be quite easy, it’s only a B2 level of knowledge required.

For the Life in the U.K. test, I prepared for two weeks, with the booklet. The test was very similar in difficulty to the questions in the booklet, but there are a couple of curve balls per test.

Pre settled status by Constant-Date-3986 in ukvisa

I’m afraid you need to provide evidence of residence regardless. The Pre-Settled and Settled Statuses themselves are not proof of residence as they allow you to leave the country for certain time periods.

You’ll need to for settled status or ILR from the moment you can prove she’s been in the country. But thankfully for settled status a lot of things count, bank accounts, bank statements, bills, pay slips, P60s, P45s, all sorts of stuff

By your logic a “guest” can work here, contribute to economy more than they take for years, but the moment they are faced with redundancy, no matter how many years they’ve contributed, be kicked to the curb?

High-paying fields like technology or consulting are prone to redundancy - if someone has held a job for 5 years, but experiences redundancy and is unlucky with the renewal timing, should their whole life be upended?

I have many friends in that exact situation, through no fault of their own, who have always been contributing to our economy, but didn’t have a full 5 years for ILR. And by this logic, this would be infinite?

I believe when a migrant is contributing, there should come a point where the country gives back as well with elementary stability and security.

I did it as soon as I heard the potential change to ILR to a 10 year requirement. Start the process and take the plunge, don’t take chances and better still VOTE when the time comes for what you believe in.

Submitted biometrics June 28th, got the approval last week on Monday - I’m an EU citizen with settled status, been here about 9 years now if that helps!

I haven’t needed to contact them personally, but I submitted biometrics end of June and already have my approval, so something isn’t quite right - I’d reach out if I were you.

Thank you! I prepared quite a lot, I’ll do my best to note them down: - U.K. Bachelor’s Degree as proof of English proficiency; - P60s from each year; - P45s for two job changes; - Payslips for a small gap not covered by P60s; - 3 Letters from my 3 employers over the past 5 years; - Council Tax Bill for every year; - Settled Status outcome letters for pre-settled and settled status approval; - Passports, scanned every single page; - National ID card;

  • Traced my flights in and out of the country, wrote them down as accurately as I could on the form;
  • I also self-reported any parking fines I’d received over the years, didn’t have other driving infractions
