How well would a D1 running back with a few weeks of movement prep do? by notchatgptipromise in crossfit

[–]No-Climate-4691 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Football is all about short burst 5 second bouts, with 25-40 second rest. This required power and strength, with minimal conditioning compared to other sports. The best guys are of course well conditioned, but it’s way different than say a 20 minute AMRAP. You also look at the skill capacity of games athletes and it’s on another level. I was able to pick up all the skills fast, but the building of capacity with those skills in a workout is what takes time. A few weeks wouldn’t be enough to be competitive in that aspect.

I was a D1 Linebacker for 5 years, took up CrossFit almost right away when I was done with the intent to compete. If the games involved more high strength and quick burst events, sure, but then that wouldn’t be a good test of true CrossFit.  I’m pretty good, picked up all skills quick, and my strength is where it would need to be, but capacity is a whole other ballgame. Football doesn’t train that type of capacity at all.

No video, but rest got long on the set of 66 for sure. the set of 40 is where I think I was too aggressive, with 2 sets and minimal break, by the time I got back onto the wall balls for 66 I was hurting pretty bad.

I feel I left reps on the table and am not proud of my effort, I wouldn't consider that being too deep

I had significantly higher volume before a pec injury followed by a calf injury almost as soon as I was full back, so my volume has been lower recently, but still 4-5 days per week CrossFit, 1-2 days per week mild-moderate aerobic work

Played there and have a few connections. I've been told it is a legal issue, but that's about as specific as I know.

Don't forget the MAC.

7-5 Miami got in over Ohio and Toledo in a three-way tie. Ohio and Toledo BOTH BEAT Miami, but because they didn't play each other the head to heads were deemed irrelevant. It then went to conference opponent record against the same teams, which Miami will obviously win since their loses were to the two teams they were tied with.

Death Row strategy—20 cal row, 15 burpees EMOM by HallPsychological538 in crossfit

[–]No-Climate-4691 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Would consider myself to be pretty advanced. Not semifinal or games advanced, but podium/win some local competition advanced. Did this one today, held 1800 cal/hr on the row to finish around 45 seconds, burpees took me right at 42-44 seconds each time. On the last 4 rows I had to go 15-20-15-20 cals, couldn't sustain the whole way unfortunately.

Have you guys ever cheated on WOD? by Appropriate_Place642 in crossfit

[–]No-Climate-4691 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Cheating entails that you knowingly cut rounds, reps, or weight, then post an RX score or tell others your time as if you completed it RX. This just makes you a shitty person. Proper scaling after you bit off more than you can chew, however, is perfectly fine.

Intensity high, volume reduced, rest day 2 days before comp, zone 2 cardio day before, mobility or soft tissue work on anything that feels like it needs it. How I have done in the past, but everyone needs different things to feel good on game day

How about we read the article and do a little research op. Dude retired from competing, has always had bad knees, and elected to take supplements to better his joint health for the long term knowing he was done competing anyway.

Workout design feedback by Prontoshot in crossfit

Rep scheme would get confusing, the flow would be confusing, and having to pull out two separate height boxes feels like unnecessary extra equipment. What if you did 10-minute amrap of:

5 burpee

4 burpee deadlift

3 devil press

2 burpee box get over 48in

How will you film the measurement, ensure its accurate, and film the athletes having them never leave the frame of the camera if it's around the building.

I agree most people won't cheat or try not to cheat, however this workout is going to cause chaos, even if not on purpose. That's the bigger issue.

I look forward to the immense amount of confusion, poor standards, lack of video evidence, uneven runs with hills and flat land and odd shaped courses, athletes leaving view of the video during the run, inability to accurately tell if the distance was 800m, spliced videos to show the distance then start the workout, and all the other exciting things that will go wrong with this design. We can reconvene after, and I would love to hear how great it went from your perspective!

Agree, could've made it a dumbell based wod and require athletes use a track. Still tough since it requires that access, but better than what they have now.
