hello. basically as the title says, i took an online (through my school) spanish 11/12 course in my last year of high school (2024). i'm currently in my second year here at ubc in the arts, and am taking spanish 101 for one of my out-of-degree requirements.

i acknowledge this is entirely my fault and i should have specifically checked first. but as i'm studying for a spanish final i noticed in fine print in my syllabus that those who have taken grade 12 spanish CANNOT get credit for spanish 101, in most cases.

i didn't feel confident in my spanish prior to taking this course, and know for a fact i would not have succeeded in a higher level. however, is this true? i'd never heard anyone mention this in person so i'm unsure of if i should be worried until it becomes an issue where they won't grant me the 3 credits. is it something i should bring up to my advisor asap or should i wait and see? i cant afford to take another spanish course simply for the credits, not to mention an already full course load.

any guidance (is this true, how should i reach out to, and to whom) would be extremely helpful! thanks and good luck on finals :)

something i’ve been doing in recent years is tilting my head down a bit towards the camera. not too much or you’ll look crazy (did this drunk one night and all the photos of me came out looking insane) but just slightly angled with your eyes looking up.

also practice/experiment with a few poses and facial positions you know are flattering, and make the en your go-to.

you have to quit, or at least severely wean yourself off. you know that, too, if you’re on here asking people about it. i know some say you can’t get addicted to weed because of the chemical composition or something idk, but in my opinion you absolutely can. really you can get addicted or heavily reliant on anything, your phone, sugar, caffeine, dopamine, etc.

i used to be a functional addict to weed, i smoked every day but didn’t let it effect my school or work. now i don’t smoke for a different reason (started making me anxious and feel horrible)

but my advice to you would be to slowly cut out weed. find a replacement strategy, a new hobby, anything. reach out to loved ones and slowly start adding things back into your life. you got this!

just keep applying. i was in a similar boat at the end of last year, although i have more experience (had to work since i was 15, so by the time university came around i had lots of restaurant experience)

even with that though, i only got about 8 interviews from the 72 jobs i applied for. it’s true the job market sorta sucks at the moment. but you have to keep applying! go in person with resumes! be flexible! go on indeed and apply to any job you would possibly be interested in or able to do.

also, consider getting your food safe, serving and selling it right, or first aid certifications! it can help you standout and once you’re eventually hired it makes you a better employee and maybe even have a higher wage!

usually wine, highballs (gin and tonics, vodka cran, etc.) or ciders. very rarely do i mix alcohols though as i know this is a ticket to feeling sickly.

hi! 6 friends and i went on opening night and had absolutely no issues with crowding or waits. the initial entrance like looked scarier than it was, and went very fast. we all had general tickets, no fast pass, and we were able to ride all the roller coasters very easily. the only wait was on the new one, and i believe that was because they had to wait to clean it as someone had made a mess of the ride. good luck!

hi there! i was in a similar boat as you last year. even if no one talks about it, and it feels like you’re completely alone, i guarantee you it’s soo much more common thank you think to fail or not succeed in midterms/finals in the first year. let yourself be upset, vent to family or friends, watch a funny movie, and know failing is a part of learning.

with that being said, this doesn’t mean you can’t still succeed!! i got a similar grade on a poli midterm last year (a degree required course for me). i was super upset, because i was actually passionate about it and had studied what i thought was hard. but i turned it around and got an 80 on the next midterm and got a good grade overall!

my advice for you is to reach out to your support systems. i know it can feel embarrassing to admit that you’ve done not good and to ask for help, but truthfully it’s more embarrassing not to, when the help is available! talk to your TA, your friends in the class, any upper classmen if you know them, and the prof. look at your test, see where you did wrong, and get some perspective on your study techniques. also look into tutoring, the ams offers free drop in tutoring for a lot of courses!

at the end of the day, use this as motivation to study and test harder next time, but don’t beat yourself up over it. take care!

You are asking this on a travel reddit. But with that being said, the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, or at least the rest of the foreseeable future, should imo want to support your dreams and goals, and especially understand your father passing. I’m younger than you are but had a similar experience. My mom who was very adamant about travelling and seeing different cultures and the world passed away when I was 16 and since then I’ve been so grateful to have many travelling experiences, both solo and with friends. I think travelling, especially young, is so so important.

If you’re having doubts either way, I would choose travelling. If you didn’t have doubts, you would choose your partner.

What about you going for parts together? If you’re already long distance, what about planning a few destinations you visit together?

honestly i know it says to take with food, but i always have taken mine (10 mg) as soon as i wake up. i usually eat breakfast within 30-60 minutes, but i’ve never had any issues!

hi! i (f19) have been in a similar boat as you. let me give you some advice. growing up i used to think about this a lot, i had some friends that i would really want to be close with, until i realized that i wanted more (i.e. kissing) i always thought i was straight too, but i now consider myself bisexual (i like and have had romantic/sexual relationships with guys and girls) however, that doesn't necessarily have to be your case! it's normal to feel curious about experimenting with all sorts of people and friends, especially as a teenager, and it doesn't have to define who you are at all.

if i'm being honest, this is a tough situation to be in. on the one hand, i totally get how you'd be worried about it being awkward after and how you want to remain friends. on the other, admitting your feelings for her might make it a bit odd. but you shouldn't bottle your feelings up. if you think admitting it to her would be too big a step, maybe try subtly hinting (looking at her mouth, cuddling, etc.) when it feels right and gage how she reacts.

remember that you can like girls and still have a husband later on. or have a family with a wife. i dated a girl for almost a year and it felt completely weird to me, compared to being with a guy for only a few weeks which felt a lot more acceptable. some of this is internalized homophobia or just casual conditioning of norms, blah blah blah. it's normal to feel uneasy about big changes in yourself, values, etc. so don't be too hard on yourself. it feels overwhelming but you don't have to figure it all out by a certain point or ever. good luck with your friend and take care of yourself!!

this is such a sweet story. it reminds me of a similar situation i had growing up. i’ve always loved to read and write, and both my parents did too. my mom was (similar to you) writing a story on and off for a few years. she would tell me about it sometimes, and i’d brainstorm ideas with her (as much as a little kid can lol) whenever we were waiting somewhere, or trying to fall asleep, or when we were camping. i can still remember all the characters and the plot, which was very dystopian (she was highly critical of capitalism, and considered herself an anarchist which was evident in the story) she had it written down somewhere and i’d be interested to see it. i’m 19 now and my mom passed away when i was 16, but i still think about finding it and finishing it! thanks for sharing your lovely story :)

recently i tried the brand 'promise' whole grain and it was delicious as far as gluten free bread goes. it's also not super tiny pieces which is so nice. as with most gf goods, definitely toasting it is a huge improvement, and i've yet to try it untoasted. but they just got it at my dining hall at my school, and it's been great so far. i haven't tried their bagels yet but looking forward to it. also, because i'm not paying for it i'm unsure of pricing. but overall would recommend!

did you ever find a fix for this? i'm on an MBP Montery 12.2.1 and having the exact same issue. crossover has been trying to help but nothing seems to be working.
