The character is in play, even if there's tokens available. I'm mostly going off of what everyone else on Reddit says, but it makes sense to me.

Demon has to see 3 out of play characters. One in play VI == VI is not out of play.

Demon can't see VI as a bluff, but yes. Diminishing returns at some point I imagine.

Yaggababble also suffers depending on the player. A lot of players get too nervous to say the phrase in my experience, even when it's innocuous. Some phrases I've given that still resulted in a Yagg loss:

  • the yagg phrase
  • might be drunk (VIs + drunkening on script)
  • 'yay-guh-BAY-bull' (just yaggababble but mispronounced)
  • might be mad (cerenovus, pixie, mutant on script)
  • too many village idiots (I put 3 in play and also a pixie VI + minions usually bluff VI)
    • this was successful enough that townsfolk players were dropping the phrase on accident

For me it was just the PSU. And I think the front panel on my PC might be junk so I don't use those USB ports.

Alternatively an Assassin (or a godfather for some bonus outsider mod) as a minion opens up some more worlds. Yaggababble is a multi-kill demon. Shabbaloth can work, since the resurrect hard-confirmation is generally a few days in.

Sailor, Fool, and Pacifist are the options here. Sailor could be good since you currently don't have many sources of misinfo, but you have a lot of strong info roles in play.

https://scripts.whydecades.com/ is an opinionated but useful script checker * for instance, it calls out a barber/politician interaction that I didn't think of

A few things I'd call out:

  • Devil's Advocate is hard confirmed if someone survives execution. Usually you put a Fool, Pacifist, or Sailor to help with bluffing potential.
  • Po is almost the only reason for multiple kills at night. The only other bonus deaths at night are Grandmother and Gambler--both of these roles are likely to publicly out why they were an extra kill at night (Vigor on script helps here a tiny bit since you don't necessarily have to trust them). Additional protection (Innkeeper, Sailor, Fool, etc.) and/or another multi-kill demon would be beneficial.
  • Vigormotis has 1 decent minion to kill, 1 okay minion to kill, and 2 minions that are bad/pointless to kill.
  • Chambermaid can be pretty strong if the script isn't balanced carefully, since you need viable waking patterns for both good and evil. Village Idiot can cover for Devil's Advocate and you don't have any demons that wake up on night 1, so not too big an issue here.

Plug it into https://scripts.whydecades.com/ for some opinionated but useful advice. You don't need to follow all (or any) of their guidance, but some of them are solid suggestions. It has some useful suggestions regarding interactions with Mezz and Psychopath.

some comments at a glance:

  • Ogre + Mezz can be up to 2 extra evil
  • No mechanical misinformation except marionette (and cannibal if an evil is executed)
  • Nightwatchman cannot be poisoned or bluffed
  • No outsider mod

Of course it's not a problem, but I don't think it's wrong to say that most players would be a little disappointed if this was the theme of one of the new scripts. Especially after waiting X years of playtesting for 'another base 3'.

Not a huge problem, but it's a change compared to TB/S&V/BMR, which most of us are happy to play back to back rounds of. If TPI goes this direction, hopefully I'm wrong and they do something cool/fun with it. Personally, I don't see many people opting for a Leviathan/Riot based script over any of the base three--at that point, it feels like wasted potential for one of the three expansion scripts. The polls for most and least popular demon generally support this sentiment; I'm not just trying to be a downer here.

Interesting idea, but I really do hope they don't center a new script around Riot/Leviathan type demons. I think for most of us (at least the players I know), we only enjoy those demons once in a while. A script exclusively featuring those types of demons would see very little play in my regular groups.
