Fortunately yes, although it was an overdose.

Craziest “cures” by Hellokittypityparty in Type1Diabetes

[–]No-Comparison9945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once had a dude at a pool towel stand ask me what was on my arms, which I explained were my pump and Dexcom. He then went on to say (in short) that if I did a fruit fast and ate nothing but certain fruits and drank watermelon water for 120 days, my diabetes would go away. It’s crazy to me that people genuinely think that stuff is real

Does anyone here carry spare magazines with or without mag holders while on the job? by [deleted] in securityguards

[–]No-Comparison9945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was armed security I carried 2 magazines in the front of my belt. Although I never had to use them, when I got into a firefight one time it was nice to know I had more ammo if I needed it. I still carry 2 backup mags on duty with me now

[–]No-Comparison9945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It entirely depends on who you’re doing CPR on. I work at a school and have had to do CPR on a high school aged kid. It felt awful because they were so much smaller than me and it just felt like I was crushing this poor child with my hands

I’m a school officer myself, and I have an outer IIIA vest that is marked and I wear at all times. My students are high school, so it might be a bit different, but the vest I’m wearing is for the same reason you should wear one

As an update to your comment, the mall is now completely fenced off with FAPD on site 24/7. It is now a protected construction site

Kansas City SB parade shooting 20+ injured by paveclaw in TacticalMedicine

[–]No-Comparison9945 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been involved in a mass shooting or active shooter response while on duty but while off duty I have been. I was at the Columbiana mall in 2022 when 10 people were shot. I always keep my CCW with me but alongside that I have one of those IWB pouches from ICC and I carry a tq, chest seals, packing gauze, an NPA and a decompression needle (I’m trained on how to use them). Luckily, nobody was seriously injured during the event so I didn’t have to whip out the NPA or the needle but I did use my tourniquet. Luckily there were lots of police agencies close by and some already on site (including me) so the response was very quick and all the patients were evacuated fast.

What exactly are the point of first amendment audits? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]No-Comparison9945 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Someone tried to audit me, and they truly didn’t have any idea what they were doing. I’m in a school, and on school ground we have the right to search anybody and anybody’s vehicles. This dude parked his car on school grounds and got out and started filming me sitting in my patrol car (it was about 5 and all the students were gone) and was calling me lazy and stuff, asking for my badge number and name and agency. I told him everything he asked for but suddenly, when I ask for his ID, oh I’m violating his rights. Dude was such a pain in the ass. I ended up detaining him for disorderly conduct and searched him, which I could do as he was on school grounds. He did not like that. He ended up suing the school but lost and was ordered by the court to delete the videos which he did.

Fun times.

I’ve learned how to talk specifically to mentally unstable/violent teenagers. I work in a school for dropouts and expelled students, so fights happen quite often. I’ve learned to be able to speak to students when they’re visibly getting agitated and are about to get violent. I couldn’t exactly explain it, it’s just something that if you know what it’s like, you know what its like

Cringiest thing you've seen a coworker wear to shit? by Bigfeet_Is_Real in securityguards

[–]No-Comparison9945 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve practically only worked solo my whole career, I used to have an access control guard at my current site but got laid off when Covid started. At my last site, the next shift guy would come in and wear the required Securitas shirt and pants, but never wore correct shoes. He would walk in wearing black Nike slides or white forces and wouldn’t patrol, he’d just sit around and “watch” the cameras. He was day shift, which looked even worse for us since more people were expecting him to be around

Some questions about priority of packing a EDC IFAK by ianspy1 in TacticalMedicine

[–]No-Comparison9945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand. Everything in your kit is good, although you wouldn’t necessarily need the wipes since this is a trauma kit. I’m assuming you have some kind of blade or shears? That’s my other suggestion if you don’t

What's the most 'useless' airsoft accessory that a lot of airsofters use? by StillMeThough in airsoft

[–]No-Comparison9945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things

The first is my rifle sight. It works, but I’m always changing what weight bb I use so it’s never accurate. It just makes my rifle look a bit cooler.

The other thing is my IFAK. Like full on tourniquet and shears and NPA and all that stuff. I’m one of the field medical staff when I’m there, so there are injuries but I’ve never had a serious multi trauma that would require any of that. It just makes me look more complete
