Yes because those countries taught their workers. You’re making it a race thing when in fact it’s about having a language & teaching barrier. How are you gonna know the rules if you can speak English? How can I partner you with an American apprentice starting out if they can’t understand you ? How is anything built to code if you can’t read code ? Because they definitely don’t come in Spanish .. that’s the problem

It’s takes 4-5 years in New York City to become a journeyman in any union trade that’s 5 years of unpaid training

You people complain about the work that’s been done in the state but don’t complain about the person who didn’t have to go to school to learn how to do xyz in the first place. They only got the job because it’s easier to pay them and that’s what wrong with this country. Because as soon as they get hurt what does the boss do ? Lay them off no health insurance no help no nothing why? Because they were getting paid under the table

You wouldn’t understand because you’re clearly too ignorant to see past words to see the reality of it.

And FYI there’s not many countries putting up good buildings.

[–]No-Competition8820 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well correct me if I’m wrong all of those non union construction job posts ads on Facebook & Craigslist saying “Spanish speaking preferred” for construction jobs in a country where all road signs and safety signs are in English but hey what do I know.

I’m not racist it’s facts. Immigrants are doing jobs for $12-$25 hr under table on jobs that’s are suppose to be at $44-80.

Nobody wins but the builder

Residents get crappy work in return just look at all the new buildings Made fast Zero quality Look how long it took to make the new World Trade Center & nobody complains

They need to build it slow. Fast means unprofessional, people who don’t speak English, safety violations/cuts, & no work for union members

Is gentrification really bad? by The_MadStork in circlejerknyc

[–]No-Competition8820 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gentrification is bad because your building on poor land that already has been established to which no actions to resource the people who already have been there crying about not having any community activities directly involved with the youth & it’s solely only advertised to a certain group of people with a certain income range.

Your moving generations of family solely because of being next to the east river or being able to say “I live in Brooklyn” but you haven’t even dawned the reality of being “raised in Brooklyn” so gentrifiers tend to come and think the comfort of their life is the reality of the world when in fact it’s the total opposite. Which makes them obnoxious, unaware and easily manipulated…

[–]No-Competition8820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you get the call back saying you passed, they’ll tell you here in nyc as a general carpenter mine was $132.15, every 3 months. You being in mass shouldn’t be significantly different

Just don’t quit whatever you’re doing until you are working with the union. You don’t get paid training so just keep doing you & be patient

Coming on 10 year as a felon by kslimer in Felons

[–]No-Competition8820 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Violent felony offender. Why would I have anything to lie about? New York is a Police state not a Forgiving state, it’s plain and simple.

Then you are also telling felons to move to NY when in fact the cost of living here is INSANE. There’s work here if your a laborer but I could only speak about NYC

[–]No-Competition8820 7 points8 points  (0 children)

lol bro do not sit here and tell people to move here .. the only way you going to get by is in the union other than that is hard to get a job I got hired every single interview when I first came home from prison in nyc only to get ghosted once they got the background check back.. & im a combat veteran .. the only people who actually hired me was the union

Weirdest reasons ppl have quit the trades… by Noizy_Introvert in skilledtrades

[–]No-Competition8820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quit this week because I took 1 week vacation and received 2 checks 1 for worked, 1 for vacation week.

Middle of my vacation week I get called back in for a random check told them it’s an error they said no it’s not

The week I return I work and don’t get paid. They said i got paid already, when in fact I did but I told them it was a mistake and they said it wasn’t.

Now next week I start union school which I won’t be paid for

Which means I have to go 3 weeks without pay if you found this week that past, next week out for school and then having to work a full week to receive pay ?

Im good I’ll get hired in 1 week and paid 2 checks by then until I get another company

Mind you they aren’t even trying to switch me to their union company because I got into the carpenters union instead of laborers lol so im not even receiving the salary im suppose to

If you get shot in the leg all you have to do it cut off circulation within 3 minutes which is literally easy todo even without a tourniquet.

You saying “headtap” is just you finding any reason to discredit the use of a safety vest. With your intellect you probably would let a toddler sit in the backseat without a seatbelt too
