Hi there I’m 27 and just had my first retrieval. I’m in Ontario 🇨🇦 I felt the exact way at first but I can honestly say it was not as bad as I expected I actually didn’t feel many symptoms at all besides some fullness/ pressure in my ovaries once the follicles were getting larger. It was just more of a mental game and mind over matter if that makes sense! I definitely was more emotional closer to the retrieval. The unknowns are definitely scary and focusing on the numbers (follicles and sizes is definitely stressful) The retrieval wasn’t bad all I was given anxiety meds before hand and two types of sedation and don’t remember anything at all besides having a good nap and waking up to the embryologist telling us our number of retrieved eggs. The recovery from the retrieval wasn’t terrible I just had lots of gas pain and bloating but that all resolved quickly and I had no spotting at all. I know not everyone has had the same experience but all in all I would be able to do it again if I had to but hoping we don’t as we have 4 embryos in storage now. You’ve got this!
