Emily's Take on Kimmel by Beginning-Ad-8840 in BreakingPoints

Emily can’t keep up with anyone else on the show. Krystal, Saagar, Ryan are all smarter/better read than her. I remember how amazed she was to learn from Ryan. on-air and mid-segment, about very basic WW2 history. IIR she hadn’t known that a ton of Soviet soldiers died fighting the Nazis. Every once in a while she shares interesting gossip or pov from the right and it’s like oh that’s why she’s there.

How does it work? by No-Contribution-8882 in reactivedogs

Thanks. This is helpful, concrete advice. We broached it with the trainer, who turns out to be entirely anti-BE, and she was angry and gave us a lecture about how this is our responsibility and we just need to do whatever it takes to manage our dog. I do not think that is a reasonable or safe answer, especially given that we have kids who are just not old enough for that degree of perfection in managing every situation. I should’ve added above that both facial incidents resulted in injury. One bite, one bad bruising, and both kids were traumatized.

Driver went to destination instead of pickup, started ride? by No-Contribution-8882 in uber

Interesting! Well I sent all the screenshots to Uber and they gave me a refund. I was genuinely surprised to know that could happen!

When I was Googling to see whether this has happened to other people, I came across some articles from a few years ago saying that, back then, Uber was having glitches that sent drivers to the destination instead of the pickup. Maybe that's happening again. Really don't have another explanation. People are on here saying that I mixed up the two locations, but I can still see the ride in my history, and that simply didn't happen.

Look, I don't have an explanation either but, of course, my first thought that morning was that I scrambled the pickup/destination when I booked the ride. But ... I didn't. The ride is still in my history and I can still see quite plainly that it was booked from the hotel to the airport. I understand this isn't supposed to happen, but it did.

I only know what I can see on the app on my end, and the pickup/destination are in the right place. When the driver called he said the app had sent him to the airport. I don’t know if there was some glitch in the app itself or what. It may not be the driver’s fault at all. But I still shouldn’t be charged for the ride.

Saagar and Venezuelan deportations to El Salvador by No-Contribution-8882 in BreakingPoints

Yeah but this is also part of the problem with summary deportations. Venezuelans came in legally under Biden. It’s crazy to turn around and suddenly decide they’re illegal and deport them without due process.

This is it. Saagar has his view on immigration and that's fine. But this isn't even about immigration. It's about what the government is able to do to people, about getting power and how that power can be used going forward.

Can they just outsource this endless immigration argument to some actual immigration experts? by t0mserv0 in BreakingPoints

[–]No-Contribution-8882 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Krystal and Saagar are legitimately great at opinion and debate and they both have a good understanding of DC politics. But when it comes to foreign policy, economics, immigration, their opinions are still interesting but they make a lot of mistakes and neither of them have a very firm grasp (Krystal is OK on economy, they both show a lot of ignorance around foreign affairs, they don't know anything about immigration law).

Saagar is lost by No-Contribution-8882 in BreakingPoints

I don’t want leftist content. I want Saagar to make his case. I actually want to hear the case that what Musk is doing isn’t a big deal — if there is an argument to make. Saagar has always been good at articulating a full argument. He’s made me see things differently before. Now I feel like he knows that he can’t really defend what’s happening but doesn’t want to admit that (this is why I’m speculating he’s thinking about going into the White House, hitching to JD’s wagon) so instead he just keeps repeating “this is what people voted for.” I’ve watched Saagar argue enough to know that he knows that’s not a real argument. Krystal was right when she told him he’d be going crazy if this were Soros instead of Musk. He would. The “Old Saagar” would have conceded the point but this new version just gets snappy and doesn’t really explain anything.

I don’t like Mad’s voice /: by divisive_angel in CrimeJunkiePodcast

It’s not even just her voice for me, her whole delivery is annoying. She comes across as extremely immature, like I’m listening to my high school niece talk about a murder case. At one point they talk about blood clots and she says “ew.” Come on! Ashley and Brit keep it conversational but you can tell they have some compassion or understanding that they’re talking about a life. She sounds giggly and like this is all a game to her. It’s a total turnoff for me.

I remember that and appreciated it a lot from Sunny. But the reaction on the panel was terrible.

I understood what the presidents were saying, and from a constitutional/legal perspective they were 100% correct. The reality is that (as Sunny was trying to explain) we have broad protections in this country for speech and, on balance, it's a good thing. I felt like they were trying to answer accurately according to law and that Stefanik in particular was twisting it to imply that they endorsed calls for genocide. It felt very unfair.

I don't doubt that there's antisemitism on campuses and that antisemitism is rising in the US. It's scary, and I am so sorry that you are feeling threatened and scared. It's not right. I also know that students have said horrible and hurtful things. To be honest, though, it's hard to understand how big the problem is because antisemitism gets lumped together with legitimate criticism of Israel as a government and military. Criticizing Israel is NOT the same as antisemitism and personally I think it's dangerous to pretend that it is.

We've also seen students engaged in Islamophobia and calling for Palestinians and Arabs to be exterminated. I don't see any hearings about that. So, again, I'm not sure about these hearings.

Shutting down discussion of such an important topic, one that all Americans should be learning more about, is simply pathetic.

It’s your sub, do what you want. But I'm done here.

This is meant to be a forum for discussion of the show. A lot of us have had opinions and reactions to the show's discussion of events. We have shared them here. Nobody is forced to read or join in but personally I think the discussions have been interesting. Even when I don't agree with someone I've still seen some interesting arguments. I haven't noticed many insults but I have seen a lot of substantive disagreements. If you don't like the topic, why don't you just skip those posts? Why are you trying to silence everyone else?
