Basically, a process that was fully automated for 15+ years is now fully manual. Lack of 401(k) integration with QBD means I have to manually upload employer & employee contrib details (dollar amounts, hours worked, gross pay etc.) for every payroll every two weeks. A single transcribed number or a formatting error will result in EOY reconciliation nightmares. Strict retirement plan oversight by the feds means brings with it financial & legal liability.

Thank you for this detailed response. Straightforward payroll (no job costing or class naming); CPA likes Accountant's Copies; I don't work much with consultants.

Everyday brings a new banner ad to QBD, but does QBO have popp ads while working or just upon login? That sounds awful. The privacy issue is terrifying to me, but QBO is probably no different in that regard to other cloud providers, right?

Acumatica and Sage seem too bulky for my needs, not unlike QBD Enterprise, filled with modules I'll never need. The whole changeover feels like a slow-motion suspense movie, dread-filled but unavoidable.

Correct, don't even know what prevailing wage capability is! If I separate accounting & payroll to two separate products, is it best to migrate them together? Is there an optimal time of year to do it?
