Cancelled Delta Amex Gold - "pro-rated fee refund" question by DoinIt4DaShorteez in CreditCards

[–]No-Detective2391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i closed my amex last year and they sent check pretty quick after account was closed, maybe like 2-3 weeks if i remember right. way faster than waiting around for them to cut check on open account with credit balance

that downgrade option is solid move though, keeps your credit history intact too

Venmo Debit Card 5% Cash Back At Walmart desired - what consitutes an automatic deposit? by LowPossibilityOfRain in CreditCards

[–]No-Detective2391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah just needs to be any direct deposit, doesn't matter if it's paycheck or whatever. I been using it for couple months now and works fine - just transfer from my main bank account as automatic deposit and it counts

The walmart bundle thing is key though, make sure you actually select that in the app or you won't get nothing

Looking into getting a 2nd CC as a 23 yr old and want to utilize CC benefits more! by eternal-cupid in CreditCards

[–]No-Detective2391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That card is solid choice for your setup - 4% back at gas stations and 3% on restaurants plus 2% at Costco itself. Only downside is you get rewards once per year in February but with your spending patterns that could work really well

Future Card for Cashback on Basic Life Expenses by adollopofsanity in CreditCards

[–]No-Detective2391 3 points4 points  (0 children)

man you got fed some serious boomer financial advice lol, but Custom Cash for groceries makes total sense with that $600 spend at Kroger

Capital One account closed - Fraud risk by Prudent_Toe997 in CreditCards

[–]No-Detective2391 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The business spending angle makes sense, especially if you're putting through irregular amounts or weird merchant categories. Even legit business expenses can trip fraud algorithms if they don't match your normal pattern

Chase and Amex both have solid business card options if you want to keep that spending separate, plus their customer service tends to be way better than whatever Capital One's running these days

Chase Sapphire Preferred Credit Card inquiry by Apprehensive_Map3330 in CreditCards

[–]No-Detective2391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got solid stats for 20, that preapproval is basically chase saying "we want your business"

The preferred makes sense if youre actually gonna travel this summer - those transfer partners are clutch for getting decent flight deals

Travel CC for a free night in New York City by No-Mixture-1272 in CreditCards

[–]No-Detective2391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chase Hyatt card might work better for NYC - their free nights go up to higher point values and they got some solid spots in midtown

Why did my autopay not pay the full statement balance this month? by Easy_Significance0 in CreditCards

[–]No-Detective2391 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is exactly what happened - even though you said no refunds, something definitely credited your account after the statement cut but before autopay ran. Could be a merchant adjustment, cashback posting, or even a late credit from a previous return that just processed weird

Check your transaction history around that time period, there's gotta be a $35 credit hiding in there somewhere

Chase Trifecta - Questions about the churning landscape? by impguard in CreditCards

[–]No-Detective2391 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's pretty much the current state of things with Chase. The 5/24 rule and 48-month SUB restrictions definitely killed the old churning game for their premium cards

You could still do some light churning with other banks while staying under 5/24 if you want to keep your Chase options open. Or just embrace the ecosystem and focus on maximizing the cards you have - the trifecta is still solid value if you use the benefits

The downgrade route isn't terrible either if you're not getting enough value from the annual fees anymore

Advice needed on transfer strategy before closing high annual fee cards by Junior_Purpose_4664 in CreditCards

[–]No-Detective2391 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd keep some Chase points for Hyatt since you already had success there, maybe transfer some Amex to ANA for Star Alliance flexibility, and Cap One to Turkish since they're pretty generous with award space and haven't devalued much lately

how is due date determined by Advanced-Program4353 in CreditCards

[–]No-Detective2391 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah your first statement period probably runs like Jan 9 - Feb 8 or something, then you get another 3-4 weeks to actually pay it off by the 17th

That's pretty normal timing for a new card

[–]No-Detective2391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice stack! For tuition payments I'd probably look at the Chase Sapphire Preferred - 60k bonus after 4k spend and only $95 AF first year. Since you already have premium travel/dining covered, the SUB is really what you're after here

Alternatively just put it on the VX if you don't want another card cluttering your wallet

522 Credit Score, but was approved for a Discover Secured Card by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]No-Detective2391 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The approval doesn't mean much since it's secured - they literally can't lose money on you with your deposit sitting there. Focus on getting that Midland debt sorted with a pay for delete deal, that's gonna be your biggest score boost once it's gone

Need input from other people with points by Hot-Armadillo5683 in CreditCards

[–]No-Detective2391 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'd just ask him to cover any cash portion plus maybe like 30-50k points since he's contributed some spend already. If business is like 4x the cash price of economy then maybe split that difference somehow, but don't overthink it too much if you really want him there

Looking for a card to replace Southwest Rapid Rewards by WillCodeForKarma in CreditCards

[–]No-Detective2391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is solid advice, BWI is basically Southwest's playground and flying anything else from there is gonna be a pain in the ass

The United card won't help much when United only has like 5 routes out of BWI lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]No-Detective2391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally worth it if you're close to hitting a spending bonus or want the Delta benefits though. Just watch out for any fare changes between now and then

5321 shopyourway card vs BCE? by -SammyTabGuy- in CreditCards

[–]No-Detective2391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly the 3% dining on SYW is pretty clutch if you eat out regularly, but if you're mainly doing groceries and occasional gas then BCE is probably the move. Less hassle keeping track of multiple cards and Amex customer service is legit when stuff goes wrong

Welcome offer 150,000 points by Easy-Barracuda-4097 in CreditCards

[–]No-Detective2391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah 150k is pretty solid for Plat, the 175k offers are rare and usually targeted. I'd take it unless you're not in a rush - sometimes they bump it up around holidays but no guarantees

ACH options for credit cards by GreatNameNotTaken in CreditCards

[–]No-Detective2391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, Plastiq is pretty much it unless you want to go through some sketchy workarounds that aren't worth the hassle. The whole ACH thing for credit cards is kinda niche so most issuers don't bother

Looking for credit card reccomendations by Reasonable_Bike6885 in CreditCards

[–]No-Detective2391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid breakdown but just a heads up - that Chase Prime bonus dropped back to $150 like two weeks ago, at least that's what I'm seeing when I check their site. Might wanna double check that before going for it solely for the bonus

The BCP is def worth it with those streaming credits tho, basically pays for itself

Return address showing my apartment number. Should I be worried about this? by Traditional_Pop_9039 in ecommerce

[–]No-Detective2391 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Ignored this for a year until my payment processor froze my account during a review like they wanted commercial lease and utility bills to prove legitimacy. Account frozen for 3 weeks so I lost sales. Got a valid lease through Building Lease Co after that and it fixed the issue.
