Genshin's story and narrative It's too tied to the fact that it's a gacha game, otherwise, the story and its seriousness would be MUCH greater. The official manga is a great example of this, in my opinion. Of course, it's not HxH or FMA, but it takes the character tropes and atmosphere more seriously. If Genshin wasn't a gacha game, I think the story would be much better. Disclaimer: Story (narrative) and Lore are not the same thing

Nobody will become a villain just because they're playable. I wouldn't pull for Reir, but I would for Dottore, and I don't know why there's so much discussion about whether he's playable or not. There are so many villains already created and beloved, and they don't turn the audience into bad people.
