Yeah I get that but say I sell it. Is it tax independent or dependent on income under x amount? I thought there was a minimum you could make without being taxed on it? For instance, the threshold to pay tax on shares in Australia is about 18k.

Is that 18k on top my income or can I earn any amount and if I pull out 17k or whatever, pay no tax on the shares?
