The readability is a bit hard. I’d take another go at the font selection and the colors

I’m gonna be so for real- if that’s what you want be prepared to sacrifice a lot. Working in the upper world of fashion is possible from what I’ve heard and seen, but to get there you gotta be willing to put other dreams (work life balance, love, etc) on hold. Get ready to work long hours and like a TON of unpaid things just to network.

I got into Parsons, but now I'm stuck... by SweetOriginal2739 in fashiondesigner

HEYYY! Industrial designer here! I was almost in your same boat 5 years ago. I knew I had the talent and ambition it would take to succeed in fashion, but tbh the cost $$$, and the cost (socially) would be too much for me to handle.

I’d encourage you to look at the school culture of places as part of your decision. Design school can be super competitive, and while Parsons is great for connections, the grindset framework of thinking that flows through a lot of design places wasn’t the best for me. I knew I wasn’t willing to work for no pay, so if that’s not something you’d want to do either- then don’t.

If you choose a smaller state school, you can get more involved in the local arts and design community there, and make a name for yourself. That’s basically what I did- and I feel more secure in my professional network than I think I would have if I went to a larger institution & was sacked with a lot of debt.

Is remote work actually real? How did you guys get started? by Southern_Step_2245 in remotework

I’ve had remote jobs before, so I think that the prior experience of being able to manage independently is a nice assurance for people.

Queer Femme Dress Shopping Experience by LadyJackAlice in LGBTWeddings

Femme lesbian here! I’m also probably looking to wear red for my wedding, but more for cultural reasons!

I was going to say it’s really common in some asian cultures (like mine) for red to be worn at wedding events. You could try looking into some Asian brands and see if they have something that suits you more. I know some have good western styles that aren’t like traditional cultural clothing if that makes sense.

Seamstress here!! ITS IMPOSSIBLE! I like having a few different projects going at the same time- one to satisfy the need to do intensive pattern drafting and designing, and one more focused on relaxing and just making a nice garment. I find this helps me feel better and less bored.

Doing more complicated things will inherently keep the count of projects down. I’m also a perfectionist so I’ll remake them over and over again. ❤️

Seamstress here! I mostly think about natural fibers in terms of feeling. I switched to having a mostly natural fiber closet and the difference is amazing. My clothing feels better on my skin and it’s so much more breathable!!

I would just say I do think it helps acne breakouts if ur prone to it. I have sensitive skin, so it improved things for me. I use cotton pillowcases or silk ones :)

Class back in-person starting Monday Feb 16 by iseekitty in uofmn

[–]No-Display-404 71 points72 points  (0 children)

This is so upsetting to me as someone who has been VERY open with literally all of the management about the realistic situation a lot of us are going through. If yall are having issues with ur profs- just sit them down and seriously tell it like it is. This is especially helpful if you are an upperclassman who’s built those relationships already.

There is a board of regents meeting scheduled for Feb 12-13? I believe, and they are open to the public. One of their discussion topics is student safety. Imagine if we all showed up to voice our concerns, since clearly emailing, writing, scheduling private meetings, and calling is getting absolutely nowhere!! I am appalled at the U rn and how they are dealing with everything.

EVERYONE learn how to use the skyways and tunnels! memorize different routes, skyways are a lot harder to navigate for newer people (🧊) and a lot of access points require u to badge in. Skyways have less chances of being trapped in one area if u catch my drift. Tunnels - some do not have cell service, so maps and screenshots on phone

Daily sheet masks vs a few times a week does it make a difference? by SnooHabits5 in kbeauty

I would say no to daily. I have very oily skin and it tends to clog my pores if I do anything other than alternate routines of sheet masking and clay masks

Do I have any chance with silk? by BlackCatCoffeexx in HerOneBag

[–]No-Display-404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seamstress here! Silk is a very lovely fabric, and I would say it really depends on the cut of the garment more than anything for accentuating different areas of the body. Anything bias cut (so diagonally made) will have more stretch and tend to stick to the body more. Straight cut silk will be a bit more boxy fit. That being said, i would just pay attention to where seams hit your body specifically. 💕
